When I try to turn smart screen on, the options are greyed out, and I am told that "this setting is managed by your system administrator". I tried running the reg file "Set_SmartScreen_to_get_administrator_approval.reg" but it didn't change anything.

View 1 RepliesThe windows defender in my pc is disabled and isn't starting up. It just shows that the app is turned off and isnt monitoring your system. The windows security center is also disabled. I tried manually enabling it from the services app and it got enabled but it gets disabled after sometimes itself.
I have tried booting into safe mode to enable the defender but no luck. i alos dont have any other AV instaleed on my pc that might be clashing with my defender. I also did an integrity check using /sfc code in command prompt and it returned no errors.
When I click a zip file all the options are grayed out. If I right click I do not have an Extract option. If I click Send to Compressed (Zip ) folder it makes another copy in the same folder. What is the next step? How do I open zip this?

None of the sign in screen options (power options, language, etc.) are enabled. I can't get to any safe mode boot options either so at the moment I'm stuck.

I don't know that happen, is like I'm running without admin privilege or something but I'm the only user in my laptop so that can't be possible.
Upgraded a few days ago - and everything was flawless.
But yesterday - noticed the Windows Store app won't open anymore. It looks "greyed out" in the start menu - and in the all apps area - shows a bar that won't move that appears like it was supposed to upgrade or something.
Tried a few things saw suggested - like removing the cache folder in the user app data folder and also the powershell command. Looks like the system didn't take a Restore Point.
I have disabled my lockscreen in both security options and power options, but it still shows up when it wakes from sleep... how to I get this PROPERLY disabled?
View 4 RepliesWith Windows 8,1 I was able to sign out of my account and then put the PC to sleep (or shutdown, restart or hibernate) by selecting the option in the sign-in screen. But there is no power icon or any power options on the Windows 10 sign-in screen. I can only put the PC into sleep mode while signed in.

View 1 RepliesUnlike Windows 8.1, the screen on my Yoga 2 Pro doesn't rotate when I turn the device upside down to "tent" mode after installing Windows 10. When swiping right to show the Action Center, the Rotation Lock tile is disabled, as is this setting in the Control Panel.
View 9 RepliesIn win7 and win8.1, i could set the screen of my tablet (Lenovo Miix3) to switch off after 3 min (not sleep, just switch off the screen). Tapping the touchscreen would bring it immediately to life again.
With win10, this does not happen. I need to click the on/off button to bring up the screen. So, it seems that Win10 switches off the touchscreen electronics. This is not a hardware issue, because previous Windows versions would let me switch off the touchscreen backlight but retain its sensitivity to touch (and therefore switching on upon tapping).
What do I need to do to restore the standard behavior (tappable touchscreen after switchoff) in Win10?
I've disabled the logon screen but after a week it asks for the password again. This is on a Dell pc. I have 2 other pcs, Asus and HP and the login stays disabled.why the login screen won't stay disabled?

Right after the upgrade from Windows 8.1, I started to experience SMART error on reboot, and only on reboot. I mean that if I just turn the laptop off and on it doesn't happen. It says that SMART detected a possible imminent failure of my disk. If I press "Continue startup", it says something like "insert boot device" or that it can't detect an operating system. Then I can go to BIOS options and restart from there - it boots up flawlessly. This happens every time I reboot. I upgraded 2 days ago. I have the latest SSD drivers. I used Windows' disk optimization tool. SSDLife Pro says disk health is fine.
P.S. I once had imminent failure problem with my previous SSD, but it happened once and it never started again; I got the refund under warranty.
I have installed win10 on to my Brothers PC and kept getting the message `Inaccessible Boot Device` and was caught in a loop. I then downloaded the iso file on to a disc and re-installed successfully from there. However when we switch on the PC I get a screen which shows two boxes, One reads Win10 and the other Windows. When I click on Win10 the OS loads. How do I remove the other box?. I have installed Win10 on two other PC`s and have not seen this screen before.
View 3 RepliesUsing Win 10 Pro 64-bit. Under Windows Update advanced options --> Choose how updates are installed, the options drop down box is greyed out. I've tried all three (enable, disable, not configured) local group policy options for windows updates (with reboot each time) but the option I mentioned above stays grayed out. I'd like to know how it can be un-greyed out. It also says "some settings are managed by your organization" in red font under the wind update advanced options.
View 1 RepliesI disabled prefetch on my pc because it was giving me 100%disk whenever i did anything.....but when i went to reset the pc(the instructions told me to) the pc began to do a disk scan and repair when it was booting...it didnt do anything so i trid to do a reset/system restore cant do either of them ahd now the system is on a reboot loop....so..would buying a new hard drive anr a new copy of windows fix this issue?
View 2 RepliesWhen Windows 10 is functioning normally, you can hold the Windows/Start-key down and press the arrow keys to move and resize the active window.
(i.e. Start-key + left moves the window to the left half of your screen;
Start-key + right moves the window to the right half of your screen;
Start-key + up maximizes the window to the full screen;
Start-key + down minimizes the window to the taskbar)
Basically when i go to turn on the PC it turns on and gets stuck on the screen where it tells me to push DEL or f2 to go to the bios settings. The problem with that is it wont let me access the settings at all when i push either of those buttons. So then I turn my PC off and then on again and it boots fine. Then I check for updates to see if it's some bug and I'm up to date. So I restart to see if the problem has been fixed. And it gives me the same frozen screen of the BIOS options. Then i turn it off and it boots fine, wash and repeat.

My current Intel i7 4770K desktop is running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit with Windows Media Center (WMC), which is not available on Windows 10. Since I'm planning to upgrade to Win 10 Pro, I'm concerned that Microsoft's offering of Windows DVD Player won't have equivalent functionality to that of WMC.
