I've just bought a new pc with Windows 10 installed on it -my last pc ran Vista with Windows Mail. I can't find a way to import all my email folders from Vista to 10. Everything was organised on my last pc - I had about 15 folders containing emails from Amazon/ebay/paypal/friends/car clubs/family/work etc. etc. etc. Now, after two weeks with Windows 10, not only can't I import my folders and emails, but the email interface itself looks a right shambles. It seems to be designed for 6 year olds. I want a more professional looking interface like my old Vista Mail (or like my Outlook I use in work.
I have a pc updated from 7 to 10 and now wish to get rid of my old xp pc. I have copied my folders and contacts from Outlook Express. In W10 Mail I have set up the email system and can log on perfectly and see all the new stuff. I cannot find anyway to import my contacts or folders full of saved emails into W10 Mail. Is there a way to do this or has MS given up on stuff from Outlook Express?
Finally managed to import my thousands of saved emails (had to buy a program to do it) but cannot get them to be sub-folders of the inbox, only down at the bottom as "Outlook data file". Cannot import contacts. I export to csv but they import blank, now I have about 100 blank contacts that this POS won't let me delete.I have 3 accounts, comcast, gmail, and outlook.com. All are IMAP accounts.
When I started this process hours ago, I was hoping the following could be done:
-Have one combined inbox -Have all my saved local folders as a sub of that inbox -Have a complete address book that I'm able to use and edit
I'd like to try Edge, but Edge won't even see Firefox as one of my installed browsers even though it is my default browser. I'm not going to use a browser that requires me to enter hundreds of sites one at a time. Any way to import FF favorites since it won't import html?
Before I wiped my Windows 7 install, I exported my IE11 favorites into an HTM file, "bookmark", by using IE11's "export" feature.
My clean Windows 10 install only has 2 browsers: Edge and Chrome. I do not want to install IE11.
How do I get the saved favorites/bookmarks to be imported into Edge? There is no browse function. Edge only allows an automatic import, and that seems to require a functioning IE11 install.
I have been using Windows Live Mail for years and have 3 email accounts synced in it. After some recent changes to my PC, the program is suddenly very slow to change between email folders. What I mean specifically is if I click on one inbox, and then click on my deleted folder, there is literally a 5 second delay before the view is switched to the new folder. This has never happened before, it normally take mere milliseconds to change between my email folders. Switching between any folders at all, even if they are empty, takes 5 seconds!!
As for the changes made to my pc, I recently was screwing around with my drive partitions and made a really stupid mistake. I accidentally created a new volume which took up my whole secondary HDD (not my OS drive, but where my emails are stored). Some quick google searching got me a free software that recovered my partitions and after a quick reboot my PC appeared to be working fine again. Except for Windows Live Mail... which when I opened had lost all my email accounts. I re-added them, and for some reason they started to download all my emails from the internet and wouldn't recognize the mail folders where all my emails are stored on my secondary hard drive.
It took over an hour to download all the emails again, which were stored in the default location on my OS drive. I normally keep them on a secondary HDD to save space on my OS SSD, so I was forced to delete all the emails on my secondary HDD where I normally keep them and then direct Windows Live Mail to move all the emails it had just downloaded to the location I just deleted my emails from.
So at the end of the day I made a really dumb mistake, fixed it, and then had to do this weird workaround solution to get my email storage working the way I am used to. All this screwing around now when I use my email it is super slow to switch between folders...
I have already tried doing a full defrag of the drive where my email is stored, as well as a repair of windows live essentials from the control panel. I have heard that addons can cause problems like this in WLM but until today I didn't even know WLM had addons. What I can do before I try reinstalling Windows Live Mail. If I do that I will have to re-download all my emails again...
upgrading a Vista PC from a hard drive that came out of my Win7-Win10 laptop. (The laptop mobo-gpu burned up)
I want to upgrade the Vista PC to Win7-Win10 because apps I use run better on Win7-Win10. Also, MS will support Win7-Win10 longer into the future than Vista.
**************** The Vista PC is a Gateway DX4710-09 (about 5 years old, works great) Vista Home Prem x64 SP2 586 gig hdd with 435 gig free 6 gig ram Win7 Update Advisor says OK to upgrade.
***************** The Win7-Win10 laptop HDD came from a Gateway NV7310u (about 4 years old, the hdd works great, the laptop mobo-gpu burned out) Win7 Home Prem x64 successfully upgraded to Win10 via the free upgrade 250 gig hdd with 125 gig free
****************** I made a DVD of Win7 sp1 x17-58997.iso
****************** I have a Sabrent USB-DSC9 hard drive adapter
I'm running home edition in both and trying to export contacts from old vista laptop to flash drive, then import to 'people' on win 10 laptop . Do I do it as csv -common separated values ...or vCards (folder of .vcf files)
I used my Vista Home Premium 32 bit OS to create data file back-ups to an external hard drive. I bought and used the Win 10 Home 64 bit disk to install Win 10. I have copied the " Backup Set" to my C drive, but I can not open any files. Vista was "Backup & Restore"..... Is Restore different from copying?
I'm creating new folders in Edge and try to give them new names, but when I right click the folder and click "Give new name", the name is not saved. It says "New folder" whatever I try to do.
I upgraded to 10 on 8/3. Had no problems. Windows 10 Mail needs work.
First, I fixed the problem with recognizing gmail. (AVG firewall.) Now I would like to import my old folders from EClient and give Mail a fighting chance to be my Mail of choice. I cannot find a way to do that task.
How do I import long-term storage files (with lots of really, really important emails I wish to save) from Windows Live 2012 to the new Windows 10 email program?
With the Internet Explorer I have my favorites organized into folders. When I import them into the Edge and look at the favorites I see a whole bunch of folders with 0 items in them and I don't know why. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?
Both the Windows 10 laptop and the Windows Vista laptop have discovery on and file and printer sharing on. The printer is connected to the Windows Vista laptop. The Windows Vista laptop can see the files within the Windows 10 laptop. The Windows 10 laptop can see the Windows Vista computer but as soon as it tries to see inside it gives an error about "spelling of the name, etc." If using the diagnosis tool it says "One or more network protocols are missing from this computer". "Resolving problems as administrator" does not solve anything.
I have the iPhone 6s plus. I am using windows 10 pro. I am having an access denied error when trying to erase the photos-videos after import. I can't find the answer anywhere.
To get the import started you have to plug in the phone via USB. Then in file explorer you right click the icon and select the importing option. Setup the options etc. and select import. Everything works great up until it starts to erase the files off the device and then I get that error displayed in the image below.
Start, right click, Control Panel, Hardware and Devices: my camera (Nikon D7000) comes up. Import pictures fails. The error message says: 'no pictures or videos were found on this device'. Did the same thing on my Windows 7 machine (good thing its not yet upgraded). It correctly found 58 pictures and imported them.
