View 2 RepliesI hear that insider program is same for phones and pc's too, i recently bought a new laptop. it has 8.1 pre installed, i dont want unpolished software on it. whereas my 520 is almost 2 years old ie perfect for testing ,so if i join insiders program will i have to download it on my pc also ??
View 2 RepliesI just signed up for the windows 10 insider program but it says that it's not done yet and I can't download it. Other people can download it.
View 4 RepliesBefore windows 10 was out, I was dual booting my system and I had windows 8.1 and windows 10 insider preview on it. So after windows 10 was out, I deleted the windows 10 insider preview partition and did a dirty install over the windows 8.1 (not an upgrade). Skipped product key entry on install and logged in with my Microsoft account (which is also my insider account).
The thing is now, my window 10 shows it's activated but I am not in the insider program ( I have checked in the settings app and I am not in the program). So did Microsoft give it to me for free? because I thought the prerequisite for having a genuine windows 10 is either buying it or being in the windows insider program.
I get through all of the downloads and part of the installation section and then it get to the part where it has the percent showing with the circle around it. This is the part where it starts to copy files and do the other two things. It get to 3% when copying the files then the computer just turns off.
View 1 RepliesFew weeks ago I have upgraded to Windows 10 TH2. After some time I have noticed that Windows Feedback app went missing, and I can't find a way to install it back. I tried searching for it at the store, it's not there.
I have tried Powershell command where it re-installs all other Windows 10 apps, however that only makes things worse - it deletes some other apps like Windows Store, and won't install them back anymore, giving me bunch of red error lines. I had to run a restore backup once, just to restore most of the apps. I did it successfully but Windows Feedback App is still missing.
Is it supposed to be like that or what? Because on my main home PC, I did the upgrade too, and and the app is there, all fine, but not on the laptop. Is there a manual way to install this one app somehow?
Today i unistalled a program i no longer wanted to use but to tile remained on the start menu and it won't unpin or delete.

View 1 RepliesI am running windows insider preview on my Acer iconia. On july 29 when Windows 10 is launched, can i upgrade it directly or do i have to restore windows 8.1 and then upgrade to windows 10
View 10 Replies I am enrolled in the Insider program, upgrading from 8.1. My current build is 10162 and when I check for updates, no updates are available. However, I've been receiving a message every 5 minutes that my build is expiring soon and once it does, I will not be able to boot my pc. When I go to Settings, I am presented with the option to activate Windows, but when I click the link, I am taken to the store with error code 0x80000FFFF.
I'd also like to stop Insider builds and just get regular windows updates. However, when I click the Stop Insider builds button in Settings>Advanced Options, I get a popup that says 'We need you to do a few things to stop receiving builds." with a link that says "how to I opt out..." When I click the link it opens a browser window that just says that I need to click Stop Insider builds, confirm and restart my pc. But I am not presented with that option. I have a little over a week before my build expires, and short of reverting back to 8.1 then upgrading sans insider builds.
I registered for windows insider preview but I never installed the preview builds. My pc is now running with windows 10 installed. I'm just curious if my PC has the build for insiders. I'm a little bit worried about my PC sending telemetry data to Microsoft.
View 3 RepliesI have Win 10 preview build 10240 and up to date.I want to continue as windows insider, but I want to update to the final version, So if I wanted to remain as an insider, should I upgrade to the final version and connect it with my insider account or stay with my current build 10240....
View 1 RepliesI've been part of the insider build progragrame for about 3 months before windows 10 was released. Ive been updating my builds regularly but unfortunately just before the full windows was release i went on a trip and Ive come back today. I don't know how to get the full windows and get out of the insider builds programe.
View 1 RepliesMy motherboard died, and I had to get a new one. I bought the same model. The rest of hardware on my PC remained the same. After that upgrade my Windows 10 isn't activated any more.
I don't have Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 licence, but I am early Windows 10 Insider, and I recieved free Insider builds. They had expiration date, so I had to keep ugrading to new builds, and stay in the Insider program to retain my free "licence". I was doing so, and I provided feedback to Microsoft about every build.
I was hoping that "minor" hardware change wouldn't affect my Windows 10 activation, because all Insiders should have free "licence" that is tied to my Microsoft e-mail account?
Now my Windows 10 Insider 10586 build isn't activated. How can I activate it? Shouldn't all Insider versions be free? Should I sign for Windows Insider program all over again?
Is there a Group Policy option (or something easier) that can disable 'Diagnostic and usage data' (in Privacy>Feedback & diagnostics section) as the lowest setting from the menu is Basic?
View 2 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 Professional x64 build 10240 on my Lenovo X220 laptop. I've subscribed to receive Insider builds on the fast ring, but every time I check for updates I am told "Your device is up to date", and no available updates are shown.
Previously it was working fine; I was receiving regular definition updates for Windows Defender and a number of updates for Windows 10 x64-based systems. Then, a few weeks ago I was offered "th2_professional_10525" (at least, I think that was the name), but this update appeared to fail, and on rebooting the laptop I got the message "Something went wrong..." at the logon screen.
I believe build 10565 is now available on the fast and slow ring. I've changed to the slow ring but still get the "Your device is up to date" message when I check for updates.
How can I get Windows Update to recognise that a later build is available?
The problem comes about after using the online feedback form that comes with Windows 10. The feedback form requires that the user log in before posting. However it does not appear to give the user the option to log out again. For some unknown reason, whenever I have used the feedback app then shut down the computer and rebooted, Windows boots to the calendar screen. When I click on that screen it changes to the dark blue password login screen and asks me for my password. I have never had a password!
I was so thrown by this last time it happened that I did not consider that it was asking me for my online Microsoft password. But this is exactly what it wants. This time I typed in my online Microsoft password and hey presto it continued to boot to Windows. The problem is I am now stuck in an infinite loop of having to click on a calendar screen and enter the password every time I boot up.
It seems that Windows 10 is somehow confusing my online password with an offline password and is expecting the online password to be entered offline in order to log in.
Any way to log out of Microsoft feedback app permanently? I tried going online and logging in and out of the Microsoft webpage, but this did not solve the problem. I do not want a password to log in. I just want Windows to boot to the main screen as it did before.
i don't want to use to built-in windows key hotkeys such as win+D, win+S etc. how can i modify them or disable them altogether?
View 6 RepliesNot sure what Microsoft is thinking, but the "most used" list...isn't functioning as you would expect. I want programs I launch often to go there, with the recent file list fly out, that's the most user-friendly feature brought over from Windows 7....
However, what Windows uses to identify "most used". I use one program every single day, it never appears.
A program I used a few times over a month ago is still in the list, when I chose to remove it, no other programs replaced it...why wouldn't the next most used program appear?
How do I set the number of programs to list...the number grows and reduces all on it's own...it's quite bizarre.
This would all be fine if I could CHOOSE to add programs to the start menu (The "real" one, NOT the "modern" one, with it's useless huge icons)..but...you can't!!!
There is a possibility to change or modify the applications installed, like in windows 7
Where is the folder in user, where the link are stored ?
Windows keeps telling me to disable three programs that start when the computer does, but the 'disable' button in the startup menu on task master is grayed out and will not function. I have followed all the directions, which basically haven't changed for this version of windows and repeated the effort several times, but am unable to modify these programs.
View 2 RepliesI come from windows 7 and i have not problem to copy delete etc. files on programs. Now every time i search to change file o delete or copy a windows appear ask me a permission..There is a way to disable this warning or ahve full acces to programs ?
View 2 RepliesI read many people complain about the Start Menu on Windows 10, specifically about not being able to modify it like they could in Windows 7.
You actually can modify it, pretty easily. Simply open This PC, then click in the address bar and type "start menu". You can then go into Programs and create new folders, shortcuts, etc. And any shortcuts you create can be also pinned as a tile from the All Apps section. And you can have Cortana launch them too.
How can I change the Protection Setting of external drives from OFF to ON in order to ensure equal treatment when setting a Restore Point?
