View 1 RepliesWhen I try to upgrade to Windows, MS says my BIOS is not compatible. I have a Dell Inspiron N5110, purchased in 2011, with a BIOS Version String AO3. Preliminary comments several months ago were that Dell was not going to update that BIOS.
View 2 RepliesThe W10 compatibility test says that my graphics card - an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 - is not compatible with Windows 10, but I think it should be - it meets their minimum requirements of DirectX 9 with WDDM 1.0. Cetrtainly the graphics on my current Windows 7 OS seem fine.
View 4 RepliesI just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 but unfortunately my Netgear adapter is not compatible with Windows 10. It has Windows 10 support available via online driver updates but I am not sure on how to install them since I do not have internet on my computer and the easiest route, albeit the more expensive option, would be to simply buy a network adapter that supports Windows 10 and can be installed from the driver disk that comes with it. I was curious as to what Windows 10 network adapter is best and for a reasonable price.
View 1 RepliesNow what! I have reserved my copy of Windows 10 on my gamer-rig, which is a Intel Core i7 4790K CPU. When checking my system, this is now showing up [URL]
The text is in danish, saying that this PC does not meet the standard for Windows 10. Windows 10 can't be installed on this PC because the CPU is not supported!!
Win 10 - DVD Player, Windows Media Player not compatible with Win 10? This is a shock!! I downloaded the Windows Media Player from the Store and it played the DVD once. When it did not work a second time, I spent 45 mins waiting for Microsoft support and an hour on the phone. They confirmed that the Windows Media Player is not compatible with Win 10. I got my money back but no one could give me a Media Player that is compatible with Win 10.
View 9 Repliesupgraded to windows 10 and my CPU broke, downgrade to windows 7 and the divers for my graphics card won't install."This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with the version of windowsThis graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." and now I'm not able to re-upgrade to windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI am using the MSI X99s Gaming 7 motherboard with the GTX 980 video card.I am having trouble obtaining the correct driver for the GTX 980 and the msi motherboard. What I want is the best resolution. I need the video memory to show exactly 4GB in dxdiag but instead it shows as 20000MB which is obviously a windows glitch. I have the Nvidia control panel. It is showing 4GB of vram. However the dxdiag utility is not showing this correctly. So I guess there is still some problem with the driver.
- Since I have windows 10 I need the update for the driver but that driver I installed specifically made for windows 10, has given me very poor results since my resolution has dramatically changed. I have used the Nvidia software to search for the windows 10 driver and it has found it but the driver is not very well coded. I am using DVI-VGA connection not HDMI however it should not matter because they output the same resolution anyway. The only difference is that hdmi also includes HD sound.
So I use a VGA 15" monitor. It should not be that that's the problem because even I use my banq 2024HD monitor (4K) it still happens. Maybe GTX 980 is not made for windows 10. That's why the new drivers are realy badly made?
I can roll back the windows 10 driver to the windows 8.1 one that gives me the best resolution. I can change the resolution to high so that everything looks nice and clean and the text is nice clear and small and not TOO large. When I play a game, it says that the video card is not compatible. I do not have on-board graphics.
I just upgraded my htpc computer from win7 to win10 this morning. I have an Asus P7H55 motherboard with onboard Intel HD graphics H55 series. things were not perfect to start with.
Situation before the upgrade:
- if I was watching a moving in full screen on Netflix and went away forgetting to come back to the main web page, 9/10 when I would come back to the PC, the TV would somehow have forgotten it was connected and flash as it had lost its signal. I had to hard-reboot the computer, then the problem was fixed until next time. I never was able to figure out why it did that - overheating? incompatibility when going to idle / screensaver if in full screen? was it specific to the TV? I just went with it.
Situation after the upgrade:
Now, the TV just won't display the computer, period. I know something changed during the install of win10 - as the TV screen suddenly went dark then an error message "incompatible" started showing at the bottom of the screen.
What I tried so far:
- I went on Asus' website to try to download windows 10 drivers. Somehow they seem to have forgotten putting them on their website. The 8.1 ones dont work either.
- I tried downloading stuff from Intel (they provide the chipset and graph card) but so far haven't had much success
What I'd like to avoid:
- in some research, I found that some people had to connect using VGA instead of HDMI to fix this problem with their Sony Bravia TV. I'm not thrilled with this idea as the resolution and quality would degrade compared to HDMI.
- if at all possible I'd also like to avoid having to purchase a brand new graph card for this computer.
My setup:
motherboard: asus p7h55
tv: sony bravia
My situation is that after a recent issue with my user profile going "missing" (I think) I thought do, do you know what I'll just reset my system and start over. But windows 10 would not reset. Instead I grabbed the windows 7 disk to reset that later hoping to install windows 10.
I was having problems with my Kingston SSD so I installed it onto my HDD and later on tried to clone the HDD to the SSD and then format the HDD so the OS ran off the SSD. I have clone the 2 drives but haven't formatted the HDD. I tried booting the SSD but it comes up with the BOOTMGR IS MISSING! I find a solution which is to reset the bootmgr using the code "Bootrec.exe /rebuildcd" but I can type the command in due to not being able to access the system repair.
This system repair issue says that the disk is not compatible meaning I cannot enter to the other options to get to the Command Prompt.
I have upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had problems going into and out of sleep mode which seem have been resolved by installing updates for Intel Graphics. Now I can't get anything to come up when I left click on the Start button. All of the other icons in the task bar will only work with a left click of the mouse, nothing happens with a right click. Also, I did not get Cortana when I upgraded to Windows 10 on this device. I also upgraded another lap top and have Cortana on that one. With all of these problems occurring one after the other, can I reinstall Windows 10?
View 14 RepliesUpdated my Win 7 Pro x64 computer last night to Windows 10. Now can't click on the start menu items or really any windows menu. Some other random things won't accept a left click either. Chrome seems to respond just fine but not firefox. I'm puzzled. I have a Razer Naga 2014 but tried a Cheap little logitech mouse with same results. I also logged into my machine Via team viewer from work and left click still doesn't work on things.
I'd be totally fine doing a fresh install but not sure of the procedure yet to have it activate without installing windows 7 first then doing the upgrade again.
I cannot left click my Start Button, only a right click works, but does not give the same results.
View 15 RepliesI just upgraded to windows 10 and when I right click on the desktop and click on "Personalize" or "Display Settings" I get the following error message:"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action, please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel".

View 3 RepliesWhen I click on my desktop and right click, I get a few options under the title "New" indicated by the red arrow below. How do I get rid of some of those?
View 3 RepliesI was trying to add to the right click menu and to get to it requires a registry tweek, well I can get into reg edit HKEY_ CLASSES_ROOT but having difficulty getting DirectoryBackgroundshell.
View 3 Replieswhy can I not right click on desktop or have my icons showing
View 1 RepliesWhen I right click in certain areas on my computer, I get a Not Responding error. This happens with my mouse and trackpad when I right click, so it's my computer and not mouse. For example:
Applies to:
- Desktop folders/icons/files. When my desktop stops responding, it flashes white, refreshes, and it's fine.
- Any folder or white space in any of my folders
Doesn't apply to:
- Browser (Chrome)
- Desktop empty space (right clicking on my desktop, not any icons)
I have a very strange problem in Win 10 Pro RTM:
when I right click on the start menu and the conext menu appears like this:
the only links that works are the first four starting from the botom (desktop, shutdown, run & find), when I click on any other option in the menu nothing happens.
It's not a terrible problem because I can access to the same links in other ways but this menu is really usefull.
The first 2 days after upgrade from win 8.1 this menu worked OK but suddenly stop working. In the middle I installed several programas, uninstal others and update some drivers. But I don't know when exactly start this behaiviour.
I can't right click taskbar apps, left click works as it should but not the right click. Also left clicking start button won't open start menu, right click works on this one as it works on other system icons (volume, network, clock and notification) but not the left click. Another weird thing is that always when i boot up, onedrive instantly crashes, i dont know if this is relevant. I tried rebuilding search index and "sfc /scannow" as i tried this powershell command with no luck.
Code:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}
Also this happened after a power shortage.
Tried both Edge and Chrome browsers as default. Hyperlinks work properly from progs, as they should, but nothing happens when I try to click on links from Apps.
Seems like the new start menu has some hyperlinks and nothing happens when I click them:
Red boxes do not work.
Same goes for the Twitter app, every time there is a tweet with a browser link, nothing happens.
Tried messing around with the default browsers, but never got it to work.
Hyperlinks seems to work from normal progs though.
Is there any way to set the color background on this? I don't much like the dark with white letters, I'd rather have a white background and black letters.
View 1 RepliesMy send to menu (activated by right-clicking a file) is not working now - seems to have changed with latest Windows update to version 1511. All I now get is bluetooth device. I checked the send to folder and all the old choices are there, but they don't show up with a right click.
