Jun 3, 2015I want to reserve my copy of windows 10, but the icon for the Get Windows 10 App is not showing. I have tried most of the "fixes" from the Microsoft Forums but none of them have worked.

View 1 Repliesmy cd drive icon was showing and working then stopped showing up. I did as much research as I could and purchased AVG driver updater and it worked for a few days and won't work again.
View 1 RepliesEverytime I try to return to my desktop, it just shows my apps. It doesn't show my desktop at all, besides my desktop background, and how to revert these changes, or how I even got it like this, but I can't view my desktop.
They aren't my running apps either, just general stuff.. Calendar, mail, photos, etc.
In System Information it shows that I have 64-bit Operating System. Why is it showing only 4 GB of RAM is usable, out of 6 GB available? And how to enable it to fully use the whole 8 GB? Because I had in stalled 8 GB of RAM to this machine.
However, when I went to check by myself, by right-clicking on 'This Computer' icon and selecting Properties. Under system, it says that I have x64 based processor, and 64-bit OS installed. Here, you can also see that I have highlighted that there's 6 GB of RAM available, but only 4 GB usable.
And this here is a snipped screenshot from 'System Information, well, it also says here that I have 64-bit version of the OS.
I just purchased a Samsung 850 Evo SSD, and after connecting it up, my new SSD as well as my older WD Green HDD are not showing up anywhere in Windows. I can't seem to find them in Device Manager or Disk Management. They both do, however, pop up in the BIOS. The motherboard is an Asrock b85m pro4 if that matters.. I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this issue. I have an 840 Evo as my boot driving which is starting Windows up just fine.
View 1 Replieshow to fix the search function in Windows 10? It's not showing any results. So far I already tried the following but to no avail. Rebuild indexing, scannow cmd, chdsk /r,.
View 9 RepliesI have one or two Folders that I just cannot seem to get to appear on my Desktop. They show in the Files listing just fine, the way they should. Nothing that I can think of is anything special about them.
Also, in their Path, the last item is Desktop. If I create a shortcut, and put the shortcut on the Desktop, clicking on it works just fine. So, I imagine that they certainly should ?
I use Windows 10, but ever since upgrade from XP to windows 7, PSD thumbnails are not showing in windows explorer, as jpg and gif does.
Tried this solution but nothing changed:
How to enable Thumbnail view for Photoshop PSD files in Windows 7?
Also I cant access the Universal Applications folder, the apps seems to be working fine tho but the folder is in-accessible.
View 1 RepliesI have recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my main work PC and for the desktop background I have a slideshow and I have the taskbar showing. I have an HTPC in the lounge which is running on Windows 8.1 (not upgrading due to losing WMC ) and for this PC I have a single background for the desktop and the taskbar set to auto-hide.
When I change the settings on one PC it automatically changes the settings on the other PC - the background changes and the taskbar changes to/from auto-hide etc... Not sure if anything else is changing as well!
The two PC's are not in a homegroup and are not on a network - they're connected to the same router (BT Home Hub), but don't show up in each others network within Windows.
As I've been writing, the only thing that comes to mind that is "connecting" the two PC's is the fact that I am logged in to each PC using the same Microsoft account. However, the pictures I am using on each computer are not on my OneDrive, so how is it changing things and more importantly how can I stop it from happening, short of signing in with different accounts - which I wouldn't have thought I would have to do?
As you can see from the above desktop icons are not showing.
This happened after resizing desktop icons and then rebooting.
I recently downloaded Windows 10 Pro and Display Fusion (I prefer it) for my multi-monitor setup and now when I alt-tab I see : Which are many miscellaneous applications that seemingly have no use.
View 2 RepliesJust purchased a used Samsung Chronos 7 laptop and updated the OS from 8 to 10. Now the SSD disk doesn't show up anywhere.
The C drive is 1TB and the SSD would be 8GB.
Not sure if you will understand my problem but I tried to search it everywhere but was not able to actually find the correct searching criteria so I was not able to fix my problem. My laptop has win 10 and it was always in English. All my windows used to have the menus (file, edit, view...etc.) on the left and the (X) to close the window on the right. for all my windows like control panel and my computer. But now they are reversed (X) on the left and menus are on the right.
View 5 RepliesI have upgraded my Windows 7 Pro to a VM in Mac Pro using Parellels, it worked fine and due to some reason I need to shut down the VM and created a new one with Windows 7 Pro. Now I have updated all the installers and there is no update left. But still I cannot see the Windows 10 Upgrade App in the task bar.
As I am unable to set the upgrade option, what is the alternate to install Windows 10 to my VM?
I too have taken the plunge and upgraded two of my systems (my personal laptop and my work desktop) to Windows 10 and working on a third (HP Stream 8 tablet). I am having an issue on my laptop where the Settings menu does not load. I wanted to go in and change some of the personalization settings and tinker with a few others but when I did, the window flashed for a brief second and then gave me and error that reads as follows:
"ms-settings:notifications - This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
Again this is just to open the Settings menu. I did not receive the same message on my work computer. Mind you, the laptop is from 2010 and came with Windows 7 and I've been able to successfully upgrade each time, including today (albeit very slowly).
I have just noticed, on a fresh install of Windows 10 on my tablet, that the Mail and Calendar (and probably more, the list is a lot shorter than on my main PC) are not in the list.
View 1 RepliesJust download Windows 10. How or what step do I need to take to get pictures to show in mail app? I don't see anything to show picture in mail and I don't like the red x in email.
View 1 Repliesjust turned on my pc and i can see an icon in my system tray saying " Get Windows 10 " . What is this ? Is it like the final version or demo ?
View 1 RepliesI've tried all other browsers on Windows 10 and YouTube shows and it works. I'm on Firefox and YouTube is just a black screen with sound. I've tried on incognito as well and it's the same thing. It only works when I have "Enable hardware acceleration" turned off.
View 3 RepliesI have windows 10 on my new system and when I insert my SD card it wont show its content. I plugged my camera directly into the computer and still not showing up. I go into windows manager and I can see my SD card in there but when I right click I cannot assign a drive letter. Everything is grayed out. My USB flash drives are all showing up and all additional hard drives. The SD cards I saw are FAT32 format from the camera. When I put them in my laptop and another desktop the pictures show up.
View 1 RepliesI am not getting some notifications on Windows 10. For example, when I plug in my flash drive, there should be a popup dialog like in prior Windows asking how I'd like to use it (i.e. open folder to show files). But that doesn't appear in Windows 10.
However, when I opened the action center notifications icon in the task bar, I saw that the notification for my flash drive actually did appear there. But why did it not appear on the screen? I have app notifications enabled in the settings menu.
Also, very annoying is that when I then click on the notification in the action center, the notifications just disappears instead of allowing me to actually do what I want with it which is "tap to choose what happens with removable drives".
I'll have connections available on my computer (Windows 10 Home 64-Bit HP) but whenever I click the connection menu, they don't show up, which means I have to reset the modem, wait the 15 minutes it takes, and then the connections FINALLY show up. Once I'm connected however, if I click the menu again, the connections wont show up. The image I've connected shows what I'm talking about. I can wait for a long time and connections still don't show up. I was wondering if there's a way to troubleshoot this without resetting the modem every time I want to use my computer.
View 2 RepliesI recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 10. Post upgrade I have just realized my DVD Drive is not observable/findable in the File manager. It is also not observable in the device manager.
It is however, powered up and is recognized in the BIOS Menu as Sata 4 and recognized by the computer as Boot Device one.
The computer will boot from the DvD Drive if I put a bootable DVD (my old windows 8.1 disc in this case) in the drive, I just tested this.
I noticed that when opening Desktop in Windows Explorer, it doesn't show any of the icons of This PC, My Documents, Network and Recycle Bin. I have enabled these icons to be shown on the Desktop through the "Desktop Icons Settings" option. However, Explorer ignores them and only shows icons that are manually put on the Desktop.
View 9 RepliesMy external drive(Samsung) connected via usb3 has started showing twice in file explorer. Opening either shows exactly the same files inside. Screen shot below, I've never tried this so I hope I've done it OK...
