After I upgraded to Win 10 from 7, I started getting this bizarre issue when video files would crash in both VLC and MPC, but not Windows Media Player. The larger the video, the more guaranteed the crash. I've reinstalled MPC, VLC, and Windows 10, but the issue still remains.

View 5 RepliesSo I'm having a strange problem on my computer that I can't seem to fix. Youtube videos will not play after being left idle, on the videobar, it will show that the video is loading, but it wont play even if it says it is. I can't reinstall windows because I am dualbooting linux and I don't have the Windows bootloader to go into Recovery options, and even if I could, I don't want to uninstall Linux because it's fun to have another OS to use.
EDIT: I can fix it after restarting, but I've been doing that solution for days and it is annoying. It also affects all browsers. For example. if it happens in Chrome, I cant watch videos in Firefox
My issue doesn't really happen while playing games. It happened once while I was in a game. I simply spend more time not playing games, so imo it makes sense that this crash happens while I'm not playing games. I don't know.
The primary display goes solid green and the secondary screen goes black. The audio - if playing - repeats the last few miliseconds of whatever was playing just before the screen changed.
e: I guess I should mention that this doesn't happen very frequently. Usually once every few days. The quickest it's been to repeat itself was when it happened two days in a row, but after that it didn't happen again until a few days later.
So I started playing cs:go and while I'm in a gun fight the blue screen pops up and says kernel_security_check_failure ... How can I fix this?
View 1 RepliesI have been trying to play xcom 2 for the past week and every time during the first 10-30 minutes the game crashes along with the pc and I get a red screen with no text. I have to manually turn off my computer and my pc creates a dump file. This has happened every time except twice when I was able to play the game for over 2 hours straight. My pc was playing games fine, it's just xcom 2 right now. I uploaded my dump files, they are all from when my pc crashed from playing xcom 2 and the first three were red screen crashes the last one was a bsod. I am going to lost everything I have done and checked so far.
-I have turned off just about all of the extra graphical settings there are in the options menu, I even lowered the settings of the game even though my ps specs can handle the game on max settings.
-I tried to validate game files through steam.
-I tried to play in windowed mode and turned off antivirus
-I ran memtest86 (the newest version) for several hours with zero errors and 7 passes.
-I ran stress tests on my cpu and gpu, again no problems there, and if my power supply was able to support my gpu through furmark that means it should isn't faulty correct?
-I ran driver verifier for several hours, no crash.
-I am pretty sure all of my drivers are up to date, should I download driver booster or another software to check that?
Have you heard of these red screen crashes from other people and xcom 2 since it is a new game and it could just have problems? Also windows 10 might be to blame, but there's nothing I can do about that.
Do my dump files say what is causing the crashes?
My son and I have recently upgraded our 2-year old Dell 660 Inspiron from Win 7 Pro by doing a clean install of Win 10 Pro to a brand new HDD. As we have been testing out different apps and things to ensure everything is working, we've discovered that AVI files and MOV files will play just fine on either Windows Media Player or the "Movies and TV" app that came with Win 10. However, MPG files will not play - in WMP we just get the audio, and in "Movies and TV" it throws an error.
I've updated the latest drivers from Dell specifically for Win 10, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. As a further point of reference, his laptop, with Win 10 Pro installed, plays these exact same files just fine.
Other than email, my main use for the PC is video editing and if I can't get MPGs to play, I'll probably have to go back to Win 7...which would not be fun.
When viewing videos in Microsoft Edge or the built-in video application, videos are played at 2x speed. Using IE11 or WMP videos play fine.

View 2 RepliesI've been experiencing the same crash repeatedly now, while playing any game(it's happened so far in Rainbow Six Siege, Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3) my screen will randomly lock up and there's always a loud EEEEEEEEEEEEE sound until I shut the PC off manually with the power button.
I've tried checking the event logs and there doesn't seem to be anything in there when the lock happens and the PC is completely unresponsive during the lock.

I have been experiencing TubeCast Pro crashing after playing videos for ~3sec or so on Windows 10. The most frustrating thing is that there is no way I can feedback to the developer. No direct email or whatsoever....

View 1 RepliesI'm not sure what the best way to describe this is but when I have videos open for playback the colors on the entire display get messed up, even if the program with the video is minimized. Green or purple tinting, heavy banding, etc. And the moment I close the video it all goes back to normal. This happens in any browser (such as on YouTube), using HPC-HC player, or in my Roxio editor. At first I thought I messed up my codecs so (after messing around for a while trying to fix it) I used the Win10 "Reset" to essentially reinstall, but obviously here I am.
I tried to take a screen shot to post here, but it came out normal. So I would think the video has to be being processed correctly, but something is being lost on the way to the display. The only oddity in my setup I can think of is that I am presently using a TV as my display instead of a monitor. But I'm not sure how that could create this effect.
I upgraded my mobo from a 770t to a new GA-970a-us3p. Ever since then I've been getting reboots when I play a video or netflix. I've tried:
prime95 stress test with no problems, memtest with no problems updated the drivers updated the bios to fb replaced the video card and
power supply (I wanted to do that anyways) re-seated cpu and memory updated from win 7 to 10 disable the audio from bios with no change Furmark ran for about 90 minutes without difficulty
HWMonitor showed cpu at max of 62 and gpu max of 60. tmpin1 was highest at 72

Now i never got any of this on windows 7, i upgraded whilst keeping files and stuff, and i figured the driver was calling this, now i completely uninstalled nvidia software and all the drivers on device manager, then scanned for them and re-installed windows 10 64bit versions of them on freshly, now it continues to happen, if i have multiple tabs of videos on my pc crashes giving me that message.
I have been facing the File System error (-2143326205) ever since I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
Error description: All Windows Store Apps (Metro/modern/whatever they are called now) crash when I am not online. The Photos app is by far the only app that has given me an error dialog box. I can assume that all apps are crashing for the same reason because all of them start working again when I get back online.
I am not a great fan of these modern apps and the user interface clutter caused by them and hardly use them. But there are some games like Minesweeper that I want to play when I am on the go. I dunno why Microsoft even made calc a modern app (can't even multiply big numbers when not connected).
So far, I have not been able to find a proper solution to this problem. I guess it is a problem in Windows 10 itself and it will take a while for Microsoft to set it right. But I have an idea. Is there any software that creates a fake internet adapter that is always connected to the internet so that the apps think that I am online and don't crash? Is there an actual working solution?
I'm installing Windows 10 on new computer for my organization . I try to configure one with fresh install (package of apps like Libreoffice, VLC, etc. for users) and custom desktop describes in this tutorial:
Default User Profile - Customize in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums It works fine, in audit mode I install apps, drivers, custom desktop and configure default apps like google chrome for internet browser, adobe reader for pdf files etc. then I run the command line to enter oobe mode generalize. Everything is ok, I continue my install. Then I create new user local account. And when windows starts, I have my custom desktop but default apps are removed (Microsoft Edge replace Chrome, Pdf files are read with Edge, etc.) and Apps Windows like "Weather" or "Actualities" crash .
I'm having a problem with windows 10, it keeps resetting my default apps for watching videos and listening to music.
I want Windows Media PLayer to be my default app for all of these multimedia files but at least once a day a pop up informs me that there was a problem with one of my default apps and that it has been reset to default.
Is there anyway to disable Windows from taking this action?
When I click file and print i get an error saying internal error can not print. this locks up the picture viewer (any picture viewer) and the only way to close it is to end it in task manger.
I can print from any other application so i know its not my printer driver.
I always have to open these apps twice because they crash when I first try to open them.
I've tried running wsreset but it keeps happening.
So its been some weeks maybe my store application wont launch, when I open it, it shows the splash screen then suddenly closed itself without any error code or something. I've tried to clear LocalCache folder, Powershell command didn't solve my problem, even wsreset.exe returns error popup "ms-windows-storePurgeCaches the application cannot be started. Try reinstalling the application to fing the problem". And now the store and other metro application's tile like photos are grayed with exclamation mark.
View 9 RepliesOffice (2016) worked fine until I upgraded windows 10 to TH2 then stopped working and now crashes on startup. I have tried the quick repair and the online repair and even clean installing the program finding out that it still crashes.

View 1 RepliesI recently updated to windows 10 and haven't had too many problems, although my Toshiba video player gives me audio but not video when playing dvds. This isn't usually a problem for me unless I'm somewhere that doesn't give me internet access, that's when I'll put on a dvd. My question is how do you fix this? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success. The only other thing I can think of is to go back to windows 8, but I don't really want to do that just yet.
