I ran CCleaner today (Great program by the way!), like I do every couple weeks, and it said that edge and internet explorer needed to close to finish. Thing is, I use neither. So Do they auto run in the background? How can I keep them from starting?

I play a game that when I click on a link in the Chat it opens my browser and opens it directly to the link, but my Default browser is Microsoft Edge but, it always opens for me Internet Explorer 11.

When I try to connect with Edge I get the error message "Hmmm, we can't reach this page" and if I try through Internet Explorer I get "This page can’t be displayed". Chrome seems to work along with Firefox, but both will freeze quite often.
View 1 RepliesI downloaded Win10 Wednesday of last week. Ive had 3 issues. One major two minor (and related).
First, each time I try to wake my computer up from sleep, it crashes, i get the sad face and it tells me it needs to restart.
Second, Edge and the Store wont connect to the internet. It seems to be something with my Microsoft account. IE, Cortana, Steam etc. else connect fine.
Can I uninstall Microsoft Edge and use another explorer with windows 10. Microsoft Edge will not work with java. I can't find microsoft edge in control panel.

View 4 RepliesThe Edge browser, which is working fine in most respects, keeps offering to build a Favorites list by importing the Favorites from Internet Explorer. When I accept, Edge indicates that it is importing the data, but when I look at the Favorites in Edge, there are only folders, no URLs. I know the Favorites list is OK in IE because I have transferred it to Chrome and to Firefox without difficulty.

View 5 RepliesI want to always Permanently Delete (Shred) files and folders on my PC so that no one can recover those data. Now I heard for a program called Eraser which allows us to shred files/folders by clicking right click of mouse on the files/folders and then choosing Shredding (Permanently Delete).
So my question is: can I normally delete all files/folders which means that those files/folders are now in Recycle Bin. And then I just open Ccleaner and I set Secure Deletion to Very Complex Overwrite (35 passes) and I also check 3 boxes there (Wipe Alternate Data Streams, Wipe Cluster Tips and Wipe MFT Free Space) and I also check Local Disc (C) and Local Disk (D) boxes and then I just click Run Cleaner and now all the files from Recycle Bin will be Permanently Deleted (Shredded) and no one will be able to recover those files? If this is true, then I don't need Eraser to permanently delete (shred) files/folders.
I have a new HP Pavillion desktop PC. I downloaded Ccleaner today and while tinkering, I "Fixed" a few registry problems . It is unable to access the registry to restore using the Merge option in the context menu. I tried typing in the whole path to the file at the CMD prompt with the same results.
View 4 RepliesSince installing the November Windows 10 update (11/17/15) none of my favorites are being stored in the default Edge folder. While in Edge the favorites are available but when I go to the default folder they are not listed. Is there another location they may be being saved or has my default location somehow been changed? My AppData folder shows a creation date of 11/17/15 with no modifications being made in favorites since that date.

But sometimes, only in Microsoft Edge, when I play a video in YouTube the player says "An error occurred" and then all the speakers start working. I don't know how but my question is isn't there a way to make all the speakers work not only when "An error occurred"?
