Upgraded to Windows 10 from 7. I used Word Pad for creating all docs. Now I can't find it. The same docs are in Office but are formatted different and require payment for subscription. Was my Word Pad deleted in the upgrade or can still get to it?
I am using Word 2013 on my laptop. Windows 8 was operating system. Recently upgraded to Windows 10. When I save Word documents now, they are saved as Wordpad documents. (.xml files) Wordpad does not recommend some of the Word formatting and alters the documents.
How do I correct this? I want the save as Word documents, as I did in the past.
When I try to save added text to a document in Wordpad that I have already "Saved as" I keep getting the "saved as" page. How do I Save additional text?
I can't drag and drop text/images from IE 11 to WordPad or other programs. When I try to do this the cursor changes to a black or red circle with a line in it. Drag and dropping in file explorer still works.
I just installed the BIG Windows 10 update (can't remember what it was called, 1511 or something) and so far it seems all right, except my desktop is a little different. One, my desktop background picture was removed and needs to be reset, no big deal, but all my Microsoft Word files open in Wordpad now (yes, I have a current license, just bought 2016 a few weeks ago--Excel comes up normal...) and the thumbnails have these mysterious blue arrows that point at each other in the corners. I think they might have something to do with file compression? But the arrows are also on some of my program icons in the taskbar, too.
I downloaded an app from the app store. (Flipbook) I can't find it. I looked in my list of apps and it isn't there. I would like to add it to the start menu but I don't know how to find it.
Usually when you hit start and begin typing the name of the program you want to start, it shows up right away, right?
I have a clean install of windows 10 on my C: drive and programs on the F: drive that are from when I used w7 (not ok i know but if a program stops working I'll just reinstall it), but when I search for Steam for example, it won't show up even if that folder is in the index and I even added steam to the start menu, so when I click start I can see steam there but it won't find it if I begin typing S-T-E..
Is there any way of including all programs in the search function or do I have to reinstall every program? This problem applies for every program that are on the F: drive and it seems unnecessary to add every program to the start menu just to be able to access them quickly, you know.
I've noticed now on multiple computers I've installed Windows 10 on, that a quick win-key search isn't able to bring up installed apps. I'm sure this isn't how it's meant to be, and that there must be a fix... right?
Been trying M. Reflect free edition on a Dell Studio XPS 8000. I did as usual and created a boot rescue CD with the PE file with no problem. Then I continued to make an image of my boot disk C and save it on my hard drive D.
Went to D and the image is there. Next I booted with the restore disk without problems, but after choosing restore, I can't find the image that was created on the D hard drive. I noticed that the naming of the drives also has changed and as such I looked everywhere but I can't find the image and as such I can't restore.
I need finding the folder for the games I downloaded from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10. It gets annoying finding games through the search tool and having them pinned to my taskbar would also be inconvenient. I would rather they were in a folder.
I have photo gallery installed with my windows 10, but according to my reserarch, there is also Windows Live Photo Gallery, which has more features.
All I can find is windows live essentials, but when i look at the programs it will install this is not shown...
Has MS renamed Windows Live Photo Gallery and just called it Photo gallery ?
Have a zillion photos to tag and if I use an MS product it will be tagged within the photo unlike Picasa so will be better for my purposes, unless there is an alternative which adopts the MS tagging...
I installed Win 10. I have several hundred MP3's in my Win 7 "Music" folder, but in Win 10 I now see only a dozen or so. I rolled back 10 to 7; presto! there they are. Re-installed 10 and have the same issue: I cannot locate a folder full of my music. I can find any title I search for; just not all of them in one location.
Also, is there a good replacement app for Media Player?
I am using Media Monkey on my PC. I am able to see the location of some of my music however when I navigate to the folder C:UsersStuMusic there is nothing there.
Didn't notice until recently that the shortcut to Adobe Acrobat reader is not there and I can't find it in my programs. I was worried about some documents that i had recorded in ecosign but when i typed ecosign into the Search Bar it led me to the site and everything is there except my electronic signature This leads me to think that Adobe is in there somewhere. In going to their site I see that Adobe 11 seems to be the latest. Should I just download it? Before Windows 10 Adobe always sent me update notices.
I was erasing a movie (The Mists of Avalon). The folder with the files inside could not be deleted, so I opened the folder and deleted each item one by one. But one file could not be deleted. It was called "installer.exe" (without the quotation marks) and weighed 0 Kb.Eraser could not get rid of it and rmdir q/ s/ The Mists of Avalon did not erase it either. how to get rid of that file and folder?
