Just upgraded to Windows 10, and now all of my acrobat files open with through internet explorer (whatever its called now) rather than through the acrobat program. As I result, I cannot edit my pdf files.
View 8 RepliesWhy do programs like Paint and Photoshop take FOREVER to load? It's not like my computer slows down as they are loading either. My computer is running well without any issues, but this is still a problem. I was part of the Insider Program and I am up-to-date. Also, the Photos program can't edit any files because of their "file types." This happens to ALL file types.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to use the default programs app on the control pabel to set Acrobat 9.5 as the default viewer for pdf files. I also have Acrobat Reader DC installed. Neither program appears on the "set your default programs" screen so I changed it on the file associations screen. But Reader DC is still opening the .pdf files by default. I checked back on the default programs app, and the associations screen still lists Reader DC as the default app. But when I click the change program button it asks me if I want to keep the association with Acrobat 9.5! (see screenshot).

In file exlorer:
when I have the preview pane is open,
I select a file,
I start typing the name of a document to find it, but the file explorer doesn't take me to the file. (it doesn't find it/highlight it)
When I turn off the preview pane, the file explorer finds the files without any issues.
In Windows 7, it did this without a problem, in the same folder.
Admittedly, I do have over 40,000 files, but since it worked fine with Windows 7, I don't think this is a problem with the number of files.
The Mail App doesn't seem capable. It can't open .eml files either.
View 3 RepliesI can edit and view the tags (? these are called tags right ?) like 'Comments', 'Title', 'Authors' etc for .JPG and .JPEG files but cannot do the same for .PNG files. How do I it ?If it is not possible, then is there any way to convert 100s of png files to some other format ?
View 6 RepliesWhen I click a zip file all the options are grayed out. If I right click I do not have an Extract option. If I click Send to Compressed (Zip ) folder it makes another copy in the same folder. What is the next step? How do I open zip this?
View 2 RepliesI've received 5 files from 5 sources, both Excel and Word. Every time I try to open one I get an error message "File is corrupt and can't be opened." I can work on my own files, but not downloads.
I tried the Windows 10 "workarounds" but these didn't work. I've tried to download using both Firefox and Edge, no difference.
I have installed windows 10 pro a couple of days ago and I now experience a strange behavior from excel (office 2013). I suspect this worked when booting new OS for the first time.
When I open any excel file from any location on any hard drive (ssd or hdd) it takes around 10 or more seconds for the file to open. When first opening excel itself and opening any file from inside of excel, everything is instant. This issue is not uncommon, however none of the solutions I found online worked for me.
I also tried to run windows without any non-microsoft services, disabled all start up programs, issue remained. Reinstalled office too. All the other office programs work correctly.
Most programs on my Adobe CS3 work just fine in Windows 10, but I'm having problems with Illustrator. The program will run, but I get an error message every time I try to open a file or start a new document. My error message says "The program has stopped working" and it forces me to close the program.
I've tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Creative Suite, and filing a compatibility report, but nothing has worked so far. My mom is using the same user certificate on her Windows 10 machine and it works perfectly, but I haven't had any luck with my computer. What I can do?
Even when using disk cleanup in admin account it will say deleted but after restarting and going back into disk cleanup they are back.Even using Windows app they come back after deletion.On another note system restore doesn't seem to work , i did a system restore and even though i got the message that system restore completed successfully after i rebooted my screen was frozen and i had to do a system refresh to get it up and running again.I have been waiting for it to delete my temp files for 8 minutes already.
View 9 RepliesI have 1 desktop and 2 All In Ones which I am trying to configure to W10. I just changed the desktop to IE using the switch under the three dots where it says open with IE. I tried to do the same with this AIO and that switch doesn't work. I attempted to reset the default from Edge to IE but I can't find a IE default.

View 7 RepliesI have a user that is testing out windows 10 and Acrobat DC keeps crashing when saving a.pdf. Tried different .pdf's same result. I have UN-installed dc and re-installed it and still same problem. I don't think this is a problem with Windows 10 as I have had this issue before in windows 7 as well. The only resolution so far is to put Acrobat 11 pro back on. Unfortunately our Manager want us to move toward DC.

View 2 RepliesCertain .exe files (seemingly ones that don't require an install to run) on my laptop refuse to open, responding to different commands in different ways.
When I first run them, I get a SmartScreen Filter alert. After pressing 'Run Anyway' (scans reveal them to be safe), they will appear to begin to load, but never actually open. This happens every time I try to open them subsequently, although without the SmartScreen alert. I can close the container folder and try again.
If I try to Run as Administrator, however, the folder freezes entirely. I can use other folders, but it takes a File Explorer restart to make the crashed instance disappear. I have tried deleting one of these applications after attempting to open it, and not been allowed to until a full restart, implying they are running constantly after I attempt to start them.
I had assumed this was a problem with SmartScreen, but even after turning it off, the problem persists.
Most other .exe files do work (regedit, games downloaded from Steam, etc.), so I can't understand what's making this small set of files unable to load.
How do I open .tgz files on Windows 10?
I'm using 8zip app to extract the files, but I still can't open them to pdf. Do I need to convert the files?
I wish opening .tgz files is built into win10 like in OSX.

These files will appear in my recent list when opening File Explorer (Win+E). The problem I have is at home where that network path is not accessible, and the File Explorer window will HANG for minutes trying to find the file. I can get around it by running CCleaner and cleaning recent files, but I was wondering if there was something else that could be done where I don't have to wipe out my recent list?

In Folder Options View Tab I have Show hidden files, folders, and drives enabled. In Folder Options Search Tab I only have Include System directories checked.
In C:UsersUserNameAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsThemes I have many files whose name contains Arkham.
If I click on This PC in the Navigation Pane and then type Arkham in the search box, I get No items match your search. What do I need to change so that the search will find these files. Ultimately I would like search to find any file on This PC whether it be system, hidden, or read only. I don't need for search to look in compressed archives (just the archive name).
I have read I guess all over the net how to delete temp internet files, I have tried everything inc CCleaner nothing seems to work, and I notice that people have written from about august 2015.
Am using a new dell xps 8900 desktop with win 10 pro, am I right to think there is no none workaround unless you reinstall win 10?
