I am trying to add an email address from an existing email from the Windows 10 Mail app to the Windows 10 People app. I click the email adress, click OPEN CONTACT, click SAVE. It does not save. Instead, it opens my list of contacts and asks me to "Choose a contact". I have to be able to save new contacts from my emails I receive.
View 9 RepliesSo one time I decided to use windows 10 manager mail and people backup tool and then when mail app started to act unresponsive I imported them back and since then I can't remove add/delete any old email accounts.. Where is this thing stored or how can I remove them?
Remove an account - Cannot add any accounts to Mail, Calendar or People apps doesn't work since I cant access the accounts inside the app.. All I see is this e.g. People app..By mail app just this error if i try to add any account as seen on the right picture. Its like they're burred deep inside the system and I just can't get rid of them to add them new again. I reinstalled both apps and its still showing this list.. How can I remove these accounts?
I got an email from someone I have several addresses for, with the Mail client showing just the name of the sender, not the address the mail was sent from. I want to reply to a specific address, but also to know which address the email came from in the first place. In Live Mail I could check the email details and get lots of info about the email, including what address it was sent from.
View 9 RepliesOn my Microsoft account I use my personal email and two work emails. On Windows Phone 8.1, I can reply to emails and it will send it using the address the email was sent to. So instead of say dan@live.com, the From will read dan@work.com.
I need to be able to do this with the Windows Mail app in Windows 10. But I can't find how or even if it's possible. Is it?
I want to try Windows 10 mailapp, but I can't get it to work. I want to try with my Microsoft mail (it is a live.dk domain). When opening the maip-app first it wrote, the the mailserver did not exists. Then I typed in the microsoft mailserver used by Windows live mail program. But that don't work either. I can't find the setting to delete the windows mail-account that does not work.

View 2 RepliesWhen I try to add an account to the Mail, Calendar or People apps I get a "Something went wrong" error, code 0x80070422.
I have run sfc /scannow, DISM /cleanup-image etc, tried stopping and starting the credential manager and setting it to start automatically, but no luck.
I came across a fix for the TP that involved using powershell to remove the package and then reinstall it from the store, but when I run this it appears to complete correctly but the apps remain installed. I also tried removing them as per this and then reinstalling them, but the problem remains.
I'm on the build 10122 insider preview of windows 10. My outlook is not syncing to the mail and people apps. When I press refresh they keep refreshing for sometime and then just return nothing. My google account had no issues syncing to the same app. The outlook account says there is some error with the account and asks if I want to fix it, and when I press fix button, it just does nothing. I cant get to delete the account so I can reenter my credentials, how to delete account or changing credentials? The account opens fine on the web.

View 1 RepliesI cannot add any accounts to my mail/calendar app in W10 on my surface Pro 3. Whenever I try to add a gmail/outlook.com account, I get the Something went wrong, error msg 0xXXXXXXX. Both with Gmail and outlook. I tried the solution MS suggested, to add it through the exchange server. But then I get a message that my account is not set-up for Azure AD.
I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the mail/calendar app. Doesn't work.
I also tried to "Turn on TLS1.0-3.0" thingy. They were already on.
All updates are installed.
It works flawlessly on my desktop with W10.
When I receive an email on my computer, I see the sender's name but how do I see their email address? They name is not clickable and hovering the mouse over it does nothing.
View 3 RepliesI tried to do a search but it didn't come up with much. where the Save/SaveAs/Open dialogs don't open and instead the app crashes? I've seen it in Notepad, Paint and Word. If I kill all explorer.exe processes, and then launch for example Notepad from Task Manager, the issue goes away, but as soon as I reboot, it returns.
View 1 RepliesDoes mail run in the background? - Windows 10 default Mail app only run in background if the Calender app has been merged with it. I've merged the calender app and also set up my mail app, the the problem is that I don't receive any notification, when I receive new mails. So, I dig deep and find out that "Mail" app is not showing in the "Background Apps" list.
I've also tried to enable every kind of notification from Mail app, so that I receive the notification when new mail arrives. This is really important to me. Otherwise I miss my important emails. My Mail apps keep running on background and I get the notification for my new emails,
I'm running Office 2003 in Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) with no visible issues.
Except that when I want to save a Word document using "Save As" it prompts me for all sorts of unsuitable locations...My Music, My Pictures, My Videos, and some random programs which somehow landed up in the "Documents" folder. None of the shortcuts I'd like to see there (and which are in the folder, because I put them there!) show up. What to do?
For some reason the shortcut for Windows 10 Mail has vanished from the Mail folder in All Apps:-
It was working fine after the initial upgrade of Windows 10 to V1511. Hence I cannot run Mail.
I am running Windows 10 Home (32 bit).
Is there a way to recreate the shortcut (if I try shell:appsFolder it does not appear in there)?
Every time I start these apps, if I shift focus from them, they close on their own.
I've eliminated all the usual suspects (touchpad, antivirus, Keyser Seze, etc.).
(System is Acer Aspire SW5-012; OS is Generic 10 Home - Build 10240).
My mail and calendar apps have just suddenly disappeared. I've tried the uninstall trick using powershell and reinstall but still missing the apps. I've also tried a sfc /scannow but no luck. The Microsoft Store reports the apps as installed.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro v1511.

This may be more of a networking issue and how the Mail App communicates over the network. I am not able to sync any of my email accounts with the Mail app. Thus far, I have only attempted two different Gmail accounts. I followed one thread and disabled the firewall temporarily: this did the trick. However, I would rather not disable my firewall so very often... is there a more permanent workaround?
I am not using Windows Defender fyi. I am using 2015 AVG Internet Security. I attempted to add the Mail app to the list of applications that could bypass the firewall by going to AVG Options -> Firewall Settings -> Applications, but the Mail App is not very easy to find... I checked the most obvious place: Windows -> SystemApps and didn't know where else to look.
I've just installed Windows 10 Build 10122 on my SP3 (finally) and I have a problem. The old people app seems not to be correctly installed and I'm not able to uninstall it...
And the new People app and Store (Beta) opens but crashes after a few seconds...
I have an email address, let's say it's tomjones@yahoo.com. Well in Windows 10, almost any time I try to type it, whether on my yahoo email or on any webpage, it comes out tomjones8@yahoo.com. At first I thought maybe I was accidentally hitting the 8 and adding it in myself, but now I'm very careful when I type it and it's like Windows auto-corrects it to that.
I may have once typed that into a form- I sometimes do just add a number onto my real email when I'm filling something out and want to make a dummy email, but it's like now Windows has decided that is my true email. It's causing serious problems because now if I ever miss that auto-correct it's done, I may send someone a bad email address. I read about turning off auto-correct and I don't want to do that, I just want it to recognize that tomjones@yahoo.com is valid.
Is there a way I can remove my email address from the user login?My user name is listed along with others who use the computer. I am prompted to enter my password. I would rather my email address not be shown.

From the start when Windows started with their preview I did an registration with a email address in used in that time.
Now, running windows 10 as an insider and geregisterd with a Microsoft account and using a new Microsoft mail address, in settings my PC is saying: Get Insider Preview builds.
Now I'm thinking if I make my geregisterd email the same as the one I'm using with the Microsoft account, this will be solved.
A friend of mine got 3 emails each with an attached PDF (File1.pdf, File2.pdf, etc..) - all file extensions were ".PDF". When he tried to open them, 2 opened as you'd expect. The third attachment, when double-clicked, popped up a "Save As" dialog - it wouldn't let him view it from the mail app.Once saved to the local disk, the PDF would open fine. I tried fixing this by installing FoxIt PDF viewer, but the same thing happens - it just opens in FoxIt instead of Edge.
