Apps :: Double Icons For ITunes 12.2.1 On Taskbar?
Jul 19, 2015
I am using Windows 10240 and I have the latest iTunes 12.2.1 installed. I have it pinned to my taskbar but when I open it it creates a second icon for iTunes on the taskbar. I have tried unpinning and repinning both icons several times but that doesn't work. It always creates a second icon when it opens.
I have the latest version of iTunes pinned to my taskbar and whenever I open iTunes, it creates a new icon next to it.
I have had this problem recently on Windows 7, however I fixed it by pinning the 'open' iTunes icon to the taskbar and unpinning the 'closed' one. I updated to Windows 10 and this was not an issue. HOWEVER, now I've purchased a new computer and the problem is persisting BUT this time on my new computer, it doesn't give me the option to pin the 'open' icon. So in other words, if I pin/unpin one of the open OR closed icons, the command will happen to both icons.
So I've been using this Asus K401L with Windows 10 installed for over 3 weeks and it's been working perfectly. Yesterday, my touchpad started to act strange and I was unable to double tap to open folders/icons. It is very strange because, I can double tap and move the touchpad and select all, and even single tap works. It's just that, I can't double tap and open folders. I plugged in my external mouse and I had no issues.
I tried repairing Asus Smart gestures, playing around with mouse properties, but nothing seems to work and I still can't open anything that requires double tap. I can even double tap on an icon and drag in anywhere using touchpad. Double tap to launch/open isn't working and that's the problem.
NOTE: My laptop doesn't have Elan Settings in mouse options.
Things I did yesterday : Using Eclipse, Changed "Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsPower OptionsSystem Settings" and changed what closing the lid does to "nothing" and after some time I reverted it back to "sleep" and I installed COD Ghosts, which took almost 2 hours to archive.
New Dell laptop and everything else works. Have deleted and re-downloaded iTunes 2x. Made sure it's enable in Windows firwall. Even turned off firewall. Deleted McAffee totally. No proxy server is checked. I've googled all day and it seems others are having this problem but I can't find a solution. I'm convinced it's some setting somewhere but I've tried/googled everything. The iTunes diagnostic says iTunes is NOT enabled in firewall, but it is. It will say it's not enabled even if I turn off the firewall off.

I am trying to install iTunes 12.2.1 on Windows 10 Pro. During installation I get two errors, I believe they are connected. I am running this as Administrator from a User account. I have also tried running it with Windows 7 compatibility checked, same result.
This is the first error:
The installation continues for a little bit, then it throws this error:
At this point the installation fails.
My brother is in an identical situation; both of us have identical machines, upgraded from Windows 7 (where iTunes worked) to Windows 10, did a system refresh, and encountered this problem. Installing either version 11 or 10.7 do not throw either of these errors, however upon launch, it said it was not installed properly and would need to be reinstalled.
Before I do a clean install of Windows 10, I would like to know how to back up any music which isn't covered by my iTunes Match subscription. I know that I shall be able to bring in most of my music and I have backed up the ring tones which I have created to a thumb drive. I am really concerned about the CDs I have added to iTunes but have since given away.
Since I've upgraded to Windows 10, iTunes keeps loading on startup. I looked in the task manager under Startup, and disabled iTunesHelper. I don't see any other apps listed under Startup that are associated with iTunes or any other apple software.
Am I missing something? It's a little annoying having iTunes loading on startup.
Back when I got Windows 10 I started having this problem with iTunes that I didn't have before with 7. When I go to close iTunes it freezes and then this message pops up, "One or more applications are using the iTunes scripting interface. Are you sure you want to quit? If you do nothing, all applications that are using the scripting interface will be automatically disconnected in (20 second countdown)" My options are Quit and Don't Quit.
When I hit quit, or let the countdown run out, it closes iTunes and everything is fine... for about 20 seconds, because iTunes suddenly re-opens by itself. Are there some new Windows 10 apps that are talking to iTunes even when it's off and they make it open again? This is really annoying because iTunes is always connecting to the iTunes store and causing lag spikes while I'm gaming. If
Here are pictures of all of the software I have installed.
One of the casualties of my upgrade to Win 10 Home was my iTunes library. Basically, iTunes could no longer find my music, even though it hadn't moved. To cut a long story short, I ended up creating a new library and all was well - or so I thought. Since then, however, every time I boot my PC, iTunes loads at startup, and the curious thing is that there is no reference to the programme in any of the startup folders, nor in Task Managers Start Up list. I also use CCleaner, and that also shows that nothing apple related should be running at startup.
Clearly something is causing iTunes to run? I should add, there are no iPods connected to the PC, and iTunes helper is also disabled via CCleaner.
I've notice iTunes does not run if my PC has been left on for a few days. If you click it then it runs as a process but has no window, no message, no anything.
When I want to open some picture in windows 10 photo viewer he open separate window with some album and other stuff, and I don't want that, I just want to see that photo that I open. I am really struggling with this new photo viewer, is there any fix or something to force that photo viewer to just open my photo when I click on her and not the other window with albums too.
I am trying to prevent iTunes from starting automatically when I login to my Windows 10 machine. I have checked startup folder and there is nothing in there. I am not sure where in the iTunes app preferences to control the app behavior.
For some reason; itunes keeps giving me the message "itunes can not sync your phone because you do not have enough access privileges" or something to that extent. And the odd thing is for some reason it just started happening today. The syncing had been working fine up until today.
Is there a way to get WMP to open maximized when I double click a video file, instead of opening just the size of the video? Is this a setting within WMP, like play maximized, or is it a separate command?
HP Envy desktop came with Windows 10 Home already loaded. Set it up with my program shorcut icons in the taskbar. Everything working just fine for days, and then all of a sudden (well maybe not as I had just installed updates from MS) the taskbar no longer shows those icons and the Windows Start/Search/taskview icons on the left and the HP Support/Notification icons on the right show but all are inactive.
I have a question, under "Start Menu -> Settings -> Notifications & actions -> Select icons which appear on the taskbar, how does one do maintenance on the list so it only shows items that are currently installed as it seems uninstalled items are still showing up on the list." However the answer has been tried but did not solve it for me. I still have uninstalled app icons showing up. I have deleted "iconstreams", there is no "pasticonstreams" to delete, I have ran registry cleaner, disk clean up, registry search for the apps, c: drive search for left overs etc etc etc to no avail. The icons or app shortcuts must be hiding
I'm finding that my clean install of W10/64 gets corrupted "Store" and "Edge" taskbar icons if it's been running for any length of time or if I've been gaming. I haven't tried to troubleshoot or isolate the cause. I've only taken note of the problem. Shrug.
A reboot cleans them up.
Edge has white behind the "e". Store is just a white square. My other taskbar icons are good. See the pic.
I have about 15 shortcut icons on my taskbar. They are all aligned to the left, leaving a big empty space on the right. Is there any way to to have the icons aligned more to the right...sort have them in the center of the taskbar?
I have recently done an update. Now, my computer turns on fine. However the only taskbar icons I have from the extreme left is the windows 'start' image, then the cortana circle then the taskview rectangle.
From the extreme right I have the usual show desktop sliver, then a blank gap of around an inch where wifi / volume / clock should be then a rectangular speech bubble 'No new notifications' then the up arrow - which only shows a single grey square 'ELAN pointing device'.
That's it. There were several quick icons there prior. Edge, MFF, folders, ASUS update, Chrome etc. All gone.
Also, I can't actually access anything from the start window icon. Clicking it does nothing. When I hover / click it it turns red, but that's it.
All my usual desktop icons are there. I can use them but can't minimise anything. If I do minimise anything it vanishes. I can open it again via the task manager as they are still running but that's it.
The ONLY way to shut down my computer is to go to the ctrl + alt + del to the red screen and use the icons in the bottom right hand corner. I can sometimes right click on the start windows icon and it will pop up a black menu and one of the options is power / sleep / shutdown etc.
I can't right click taskbar apps, left click works as it should but not the right click. Also left clicking start button won't open start menu, right click works on this one as it works on other system icons (volume, network, clock and notification) but not the left click. Another weird thing is that always when i boot up, onedrive instantly crashes, i dont know if this is relevant. I tried rebuilding search index and "sfc /scannow" as i tried this powershell command with no luck.
