How can I change my default 'Calendar' app to use my Outlook 2016? So that when say "Hey Cortana", she can make appointments to my calendar managed by Outlook 2016?
View 4 Replieswho has just installed Office 2016 on her computer, which was recently upgraded from Win7 to Win10.
She's been using Outlook.com and has accumulated a fair amount of email, contacts and calendar appointments. I've managed to get her email to show up by adding it to Outlook 2016 as a POP3 account. I was able to import her contacts into Outlook 2016 from a file called OutlookContacts.csv. Now I'm trying to get her calendar with all its many calendars and appointments into Outlook 2016.
I'm not sure why but the appointments all show up just fine in Mail and Calendar for Windows 10, even though we did nothing to put them there (as far as we know). But she'd like them to appear when she clicks on the Calendar in Outlook 2016 and I can't find any information on how to do that. I've also looked for some kind of Export function in the Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 app but I came up empty.
How do I get her calendar into Outlook 2016?
I can't be the only one who finds Microsoft *awful* at documenting this kind of basic functionality. Millions of people must have tried to do the same thing before me but if there's any information out there on how to do this, it has eluded me so far....

Okay, when I set up my computer (W10 Pro preinstall / Surface Pro 4) Windows put in my private address which is also my Microsoft user account - "myname@lastname.org" - as an Outlook account. It happens to be hosed in a Google Apps for Organizations account, so it runs best when the settings are for gmail. I added my personal gmail account, this apps account, and my business account to Mail.
Now I need to delete that fake outlook account, but the option to delete the account doesn't exist. It's just an annoyance in Mail as I can hide it by turning the sync off, but it's causing problems in Calendar because it always inserts itself as the default account and, unless I manually change the account every time, my calendar events get hidden and lost to the void that this account is.
So I have Calendar app installed, yet I cannot set it as the default application here:
It says that there is no app or protocol installed for it, yet I do have the Calendar app installed.
When I try to look online at the Windows Store for it, it gives me this message:
Your search for "windows.appointmentsprovider.addappointment" had no results.
I'm the yahoo user, need to setup my yahoo account (dc...@yahoo.com) with Outlook 2016, so how to do this?

I have set the value of that DWORD to 360000 in an attempt get the alert to stay on an hour. The alerts stay on only about 3 or 4 seconds.How can I make the alerts stay on longer?
I noticed since going to 10 that clicking on magnet links does not open bittorrent. I have rerun windows and still the same problem. in cyberfox i fixed it easily enough, but for chrome and torch no love. I found a couple of things about registry entries but they did not work. I try to assign bittorrent to magnet links in windows but i cannot choose a default app from the system, I only get what you see below which is to "look for an app in the store". there must be a way to fix this so i can pick an app already on my system.
View 1 RepliesWhenever I plug a photo card in to my PC, the new Photo Viewer program is launched (which doesn't find the card but that doesn't matter as I don't want to use that program anyway). How can I change the default import program to one of my choice (Lightroom).
I can of course shut it down, load Lightroom and then select the card but I always have to go through the process of first shutting down the program that loads automatically. If anything is going to load automatically I would rather pick my own!
Is there anyway to change the default 'Calibri' font that is set on opening Notepad or Wordpad?I would love to open Notepad to find the font set at something I like. 'Verdana' for example, so I can just get straight on.I know I sound lazy, but I use Note or Wordpad a lot, often dozens of times in a day, and I need to use a font I can see. I'm just sick of having to do this adjustment every bloody time!!
View 4 RepliesI installed Quicken 2016 on my SP3, but it won't open unless I "run as Administrator." There is no error message when I try to open it regularly. I am the only user and am logged on as Administrator. Quicken 2015 worked just fine. I am running build 10586.14 version 1511. Quicken support seems to think it is a Windows 10 issue.

View 1 RepliesI installed Office 2016 and a random file appeared directly on the C drive in no folder. The file is called, "WindowsMSUIGHUB.tt2". know what this file is and if it's just some temporary file I'm safe to remove? I don't really want this file here as it looks ugly but I don't want to remove if it it's required for anything.
View 1 RepliesI want to continue to use Outlook as my main email client (but the built-in app in Windows 10 is little more than a pretty toy, even my phone's email app is more powerful and configurable). I have Outlook 2010 installed on my PC and Outlook 2013 installed on my laptop (I prefer 2010 though), and I access about half a dozen POP3 accounts using both machines, using rules to transfer mails to multiple folders, etc.
The one (and thus far only) plus point I've found about the native Win10 mail/calendar app is that it syncs nicely with my contacts and calendar on my Android devices (via my Google gmail account, which I basically only use for syncing not for actually emailing, as I really don't need any more active email accounts!).
My question is how do I get Outlook 2010 or 2013 to use the new Windows 10 calendar? And ideally sync the contacts too. That way my PCs and my Android devices will all finally be in sync without having to fiddle around manually.
I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now I am unable to open the calendar folder in Outlook 2007. How can I find and open my calendar.

View 10 RepliesSo jump lists via my taskbar and windows 10, I'm not having much joy. I've just got a new desktop (Jan 2016) with windows 10 pre-loaded and I installed office 2010 - jump lists didn't work - so I thought I'll uninstall and install office 2016 64bit - jump lists still don't work....
But they work for IE and notepad and file explorer but not for firefox or photoshop elements. I've tried deleting the files from:

%APPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsRecentCustomDestinations
And rebooting but to no avail. I really need jump lists working for Excel & Word.
I used to get regular updates on my Hotmail/Outlook.com in windows 8.1 on the lock screen, I liked that. How do I get that back using WIN 10 ? I would like some input, just upgraded today.
View -1 RepliesI am trying to use the default programs app on the control pabel to set Acrobat 9.5 as the default viewer for pdf files. I also have Acrobat Reader DC installed. Neither program appears on the "set your default programs" screen so I changed it on the file associations screen. But Reader DC is still opening the .pdf files by default. I checked back on the default programs app, and the associations screen still lists Reader DC as the default app. But when I click the change program button it asks me if I want to keep the association with Acrobat 9.5! (see screenshot).
View 9 RepliesI reinstalled my Office 2007 programs back on my computer after updating to Windows 10. The only problem I am having is that Outlook won't open the default browser (IE11) when a link is clicked. Instead, it pops up a box that asks me what I want to use to open and , even if I select IE as the app and check the box that says always use this app, it doesn't "remember". I've set IE as the default browser, both in Outlook and as the default browser in Control Panel. Anything else I can do to make it open link with IE instead of Edge?
View 5 RepliesIs there a way to change the calendar colors in the app? It seems to have made my default calendar show up as blue. On the website it's pink, so that didn't work for me. I see where I can change to bright or light colors, but not where to change the color completely.
View 3 RepliesWindows 10, be very aware that often your home wifi password gets shared among your contacts in outlook and skype by default during install. Google for more info, it is encrypted but its stored at microsoft for when they visit you so they can use your wifi.
