I tend to have Spotify playing whenever I'm gaming. In the past when my wife would switch to her name on the computer Spotify would keep playing with no problems & I would be able to control it from my phone. With Windows 10, it stops playing the moment she switches to her name & I can't get it to play from my phone.

View 1 RepliesDuring Windows 10 clean installation from bootable USB drive - using Users Folder - Move Location in Windows 10 - I've relocated Users folder into D: directory.
Operation went smooth but now I've encountered a problem mentioned in topic's title and presented on the screenshot: Start Menu
Basically, all Apps are not turning on for all current and future accounts. On the other hand, Search and Settings are working properly.
To get rid of the problem I've followed steps listed in this thread: [URL] ...but it didn't work out. Instead, PowerShell returned error HRESULT: 0x80073CF3 for all reinstallation attempts.

As for relocationg Users folder back to default location - I don't want to do that because I want my system partition as clean as possible.
This is current situation, I've done nothing more to impede poor Windows' performance.

From the Command Prompt, run as administrator, how should I do to remove any TrustedInstaller or Authenticated Users or System users from the ACLs of an entire directory structure also contains files and links (this must not involve the ACLs of their destination)?
I am interested in setting up some company-wide commands to remove a lot of the built-in crap from Windows 10. Employees don't need to be using the Xbox app, and we don't need Get Office, Get Skype etc as we already have those installed using the administrator account before the user logs in.
I was looking at Brink's useful tutorial here, and the option that would pertain to this is "To uninstall all Windows apps for only new added accounts afterwards"
I notice that uses Get-AppXProvisionedPackages instead of just Get-AppxPackage.
The thing is, I don't want to remove *all* the apps, some of them are actually useful, such as the photo gallery and calculator. I'd rather specify them manually...
I did some tinkering around with Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage, but cannot get it to work. I get errors ....
Can PowerShell commands be deployed over Group Policy? I know you can do cmd ones, and we already have a cmd file that's executed when the user logs on for the first time. If not, I can just make a note to do it using the admin account before joining the domain.
Is there a way to make this layout and settings for every user that signs on to a computer through our domain? Teachers do not need Cortana or any web searching through the search box. Is it possible to make these settings a default for all new users who sign on?
View 9 RepliesFirst off: My drivers are up to date as from August 15, 2015 and it didn't solve anything.
The problem: My media buttons (the ones on my keyboard {picture below} of my Razer keyboard and my HP Spectre x360 Laptop) don't skip, pause or play a song in Spotify anymore. To explain more clearly I made a video about it on YouTube where I illustrate the issue.
I read about disabling Windows media player sharing network service in system configuration but as soon as I'm out of that window or close the system configuration window then the media buttons don't work (regardless of the fact that the Win Media play sharing netw. is on or off (after pressing apply). It's all illustrated in the video though, so if it's not clear what I mean check out the video.
I have not been able to get audio out of any programs (vlc, spotify, games etc.) The only program that seems to produce sound is my web browser. Inb4 my sound is not muted.

Get started videos wont play also videos in new apps downloaded from the store wont play. videos play fine in browsers and downloaded content. I am connected to the internet, (don't post things like check your conection or other obvious replies) this is a conflict or update issue I think.

View 7 RepliesI recently updated to windows 10 and haven't had too many problems, although my Toshiba video player gives me audio but not video when playing dvds. This isn't usually a problem for me unless I'm somewhere that doesn't give me internet access, that's when I'll put on a dvd. My question is how do you fix this? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success. The only other thing I can think of is to go back to windows 8, but I don't really want to do that just yet.
View 6 RepliesI just noticed 2 major problems with playing MKV files using the native Movies & TV app in Windows 10 Pro x64 that I'm running.
1. I'm not sure if Windows 10 fully supports MKV files yet but audio from some MKV files couldn't be played with the Movies & TV app. The video plays fine but it's just muted.
2. Enabling subtitles using the built-in feature of the Movies & TV App causes a horrible lag and stutter of the whole MKV video.
Every once in a while a local radiostation comes on without me asking for it.After a long search, i found that a process called "window.media. background player.exe" is doing this .When i stop that process, the music stops...But sometimes the next day and sometimes the next week or so, it's there again..
View 2 RepliesSo I'm having a strange problem on my computer that I can't seem to fix. Youtube videos will not play after being left idle, on the videobar, it will show that the video is loading, but it wont play even if it says it is. I can't reinstall windows because I am dualbooting linux and I don't have the Windows bootloader to go into Recovery options, and even if I could, I don't want to uninstall Linux because it's fun to have another OS to use.
EDIT: I can fix it after restarting, but I've been doing that solution for days and it is annoying. It also affects all browsers. For example. if it happens in Chrome, I cant watch videos in Firefox
i noticed that after updating to build 10547 i cant play music and minise the app anymore. this but happened a while ago back on windows 8 and it just went away i think but its very annoying, i have to use vlc to listen to music now and i like groove music

I did try to restore cos I suddenly couldn't go online but the restore said that it didn't work so I assume nothing was changed
Same exact file, same folder, now won't play.
Oh, and Chrome now won't open. Makes the little "timer" spinny icon thing, then that stops, program isn't open. I know that's a different problem but it started at the same time
It's extremely frustrating to switch to what you think will be a new and improved os and have these things happen
And it's not like I have an old printer that won't work now or something. This is windows media player

The language settings are UK and override for windows display language says 'use language list'. I change it to UK and save but it never sticks. It's not really straightforward on Windows 10

I had another acc on my pc and I want to get the same settings for OBS from that acc, I dont really care about any other files on there it was just random pngs for stream overlay and crap but I need those settings for OBS. How do I do this? I went to the c drive and users and picked the locked acc one but no applications are there???

My SSD isn't very large.Also, my user folder has a ridiculous name on it. It was cool when I was in high school when I first made my MSN account but it is a blight on my system. View 14 RepliesI've been having this issue for nearly a year now (probably around 9 months). It started after my little sister made me get a virus by her trying to download something onto my laptop. I've since taken it to a reputable computer shop as well as followed instructions from other computer wizs and I think it's no longer there. Issue is, my computer has kind of developed another problem after that. It freezes on it's own sometimes, when I pick it up or even when it's on a desk and immobile. It would also freeze when I play a game sometimes, loud buzzing sound as the game continues in loops I believe. I had BSOD problems earlier this year that was solved (Apparently. I haven't gotten any in about 4-5 months) when I had Windows 7 but this issue still persists.
When it would freeze and I manually turn off my computer and turn it back on, the laptop would sometimes say no wifi could be detected. At all. Not mine, not my neighbors, nothing. I've never really taken it out of the house so I don't know if it'd act the same elsewhere. I would then shut it down and take out the battery for 30 seconds before putting it back in. Sometimes the wifi would work then or I'd go connect it to my Internet Modem and the wifi would start working over there too.
So I'm not sure what's causing this problem. It's not overheating as I had it cleaned less than 4 months ago by a professional. I've had this laptop for two years and I really wanted it to last me at least 4 because I'll be going into an animation program soon and to get a laptop of the same caliber costs $1000+.
Is there anyway I can solve this freezing issue/loss of wifi on my own? I'm thinking of taking it back to the computer shop (they've had a hard time trying to find out what's wrong with it) but I'm sure they'll charge me again and I'm not willing to end up paying a lot to get this fixed. Might as well buy a new one if it costs more than $500 to fix...
P.S. I'm also having issues with my sound card where I'd plug in my headphones and it would work but when I take it out, my laptop would say it's still plugged in. Addtionally, my CD Rom Drive makes a loud sound when I try to skip through CDs and DVDs. Sometimes it won't even skip and just continue making the sound. I don't know how my laptop has gotten to this state as I've taken very good care of it (minus allowing a younger sibling to use it but you live and learn). These issues don't bother me much as I can use a DVD player for my DVD's and the sound issue isn't an issue for me. I don't really care for it since I use headphones 90% of the time or have the sound off.
Everything was working fine till now, then suddenly I get an error message that access to Users/jain/Documents is denied. I searched a bit online and I ended up unlinking my OneDrive account and enabling the hidden Administrator account to no vail. Its not just Documents folder but Pictures as well. The permissions for the jain folder are okay, I think. Its the permissions of the Documents folder thats messed up. I can do everything with the hidden account, everything is fine there.

Does the Users folder have to be relocated to an empty drive on an existing win 10 installation, or is any local drive ok?
