I've been using Acrobat Reader since upgrading to Windows when it was released in August. This morning I attempted download a PDF file, but was told that the file "couldn't be downloaded". I assumed my copy of Acrobat Reader had become corrupted, so uninstalled it. I then attempted to download and reinstall Acrobat Reader, only to get the following message, "readerdc_en_fb_install.exe couldn't be downloaded". Assuming that Edge may be the problem, I attempted download and install Chrome. But this also resulted in the same message that I received with Acrobat.
I have downloaded and installed all Windows 10 updates through those released yesterday (Friday, 12/4/2015). I have changed nothing with Windows Firewall or Internet Options since originally installing Windows 10 in August.
To make things more confusing, I installed Acrobat Reader in an Acer Aspire V3 laptop this morning, which also is up to date with Win10. Then I successfully downloaded the original PDF file that I referred to above. Therefore I assume something may have become corrupted in my desktop, an HP Pavilion HP8-1234, during the one of the recent Windows 10 updates.
I read a lot of stuff on the internet and it seemed the prevailing solution for this problem is to go into Settings/System/Default Apps and then set the default according to the file extension.
Been there, done that, at least 5 times. And it still opens with Edge and changes the default back to Edge. Microsoft doesn't want you controlling anything, do they?
How do I change this and make Adobe Reader the default, once and for all?
Most programs on my Adobe CS3 work just fine in Windows 10, but I'm having problems with Illustrator. The program will run, but I get an error message every time I try to open a file or start a new document. My error message says "The program has stopped working" and it forces me to close the program.
I've tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Creative Suite, and filing a compatibility report, but nothing has worked so far. My mom is using the same user certificate on her Windows 10 machine and it works perfectly, but I haven't had any luck with my computer. What I can do?
Working in AI 10.3 on a Mac, opened a file to update, Save, closed and later tried re-opening the file and got the following message: Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an incomplete or garbled object description.
The same file will get the same message in AI CS on this or any other Mac in the office. Clicking the ok button will open the file but the is nothing shown in the window besides the basic AI screen.
(We are using AI 10 due to compatiblity issue between us and our vendors.) Is there away to repair this file or get the data out of it? This is a project that is still in progress.
When I'm reading pdf files using adobe reader, the screen locks itself after 3 minutes as it is supposed to when I'm not using the pc. But I am using the pc and I'm scrolling through the pdf file using the touchpad and yet the screen still locks itself after 3 minutes. This doesn't happen if I'm watching a video or working with documents
Laptop running windows 10, build 10586 November official release. Problem existed before 10586.
I keep getting a fatal error message with Adobe reader v x1 and I can't uninstall it or install any adobe patches or updates. I can't reset my PC either. Cannot open some of my anti malware software either.
How do I disable the Edge PDF Reader? - the one the opens a PDF file in a window that gives the user no option to enlarge or reduce or print or open with the Adobe reader, thus rendering it useless. All you get is a Save As option. I would like instead for it in invoke Adobe Reader.
I do not have this issue in IE 11 or in Chrome. I have already associated PDF extension with the Adobe Reader in File Explorer, but Edge still opens up the file in its useless no-option window.
Is there any way to disable it and have Adobe Reader present the file instead?
I'm using Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 Build 10240, and large parts of websites requiring Adobe Flash don't work. It doesn't seem to be everything, everywhere, that requires it, but the large majority. It's definitely turned on in settings, haha. I assumed it was just a matter of turning ActiveX Filter off, but I can't seem to find a way to do that.
I use Outlook to receive contracts and sign them in Adobe. My mail now opens in microsoft edge and it will not give me the option to sign and send back. I have tried to change my browser it will not correct Outlook mail.
Since an update to windows 10 (last but one) every time I click a pdf file to open it, win10 insists on opening it in Edge - even after selecting 'open with' and confirming Acrobat as my default pdf reader.
I have a user that is testing out windows 10 and Acrobat DC keeps crashing when saving a.pdf. Tried different .pdf's same result. I have UN-installed dc and re-installed it and still same problem. I don't think this is a problem with Windows 10 as I have had this issue before in windows 7 as well. The only resolution so far is to put Acrobat 11 pro back on. Unfortunately our Manager want us to move toward DC.
From my experience on 2 Win 10 machines, beware of creating a pdf using Nitro Reader 3. On both machines the print function hung, and all print queues got stuck. Even a restart did not fix the problem (because, I presume, the issue was in the print queues themselves). The only way I found to resolve the issue was with a System Restore..... and this option is apparently turned OFF by default in Win 10.
For now, I suggest uninstalling Nitro Reader 3, and using the built in Microsoft Print to PDF instead. (Also turn on System Restore!) For reading PDFs, if, like me, you don't like Adobe Reader, Edge works fine!
My computer has suddenly stopped printing PDF downloads from emails. Will only save to documents and still will not print. What is the problem here? Have an HP all in one wireless printer.
I am trying to use the default programs app on the control pabel to set Acrobat 9.5 as the default viewer for pdf files. I also have Acrobat Reader DC installed. Neither program appears on the "set your default programs" screen so I changed it on the file associations screen. But Reader DC is still opening the .pdf files by default. I checked back on the default programs app, and the associations screen still lists Reader DC as the default app. But when I click the change program button it asks me if I want to keep the association with Acrobat 9.5! (see screenshot).
Windows 10 worked great after initial download and installation. After 10 days, started seeing long delays in accessing the internet which I attributed to CHARTER (TV, phone, and internet). Now, when I try to open Edge, I get an error message:
Windows 10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Explorer.EXE
The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can still open my eMail (Yahoo! Mail) through the Explorer logo in the Startup Box, but when I click on links in an eMail message, nothing happens.
When I click to open Edge, the screen shows a quick white outline of the Edge (large Blue box), then disappears!
The Internet must still be working...my eMail messages are updated as usual, and I am receiving all the Windows 10 Updates as indicated in Settings.
I am having a very certain issue with edge. It will not open any page related to Google in any way. I can't open Google Plus, the search engine, or even Google Drive. I've looked into the firewall and replaced my hosts file, and I don't know where to go at this point.
When I first bought this laptop I was able to use MS Edge, MS Games, etc. I didn't like having to sign in every time I sat down since I was the only one that uses it, so I disabled that feature. Now, I've decided I'd like to use them. So, I went in and added my pswd, and I even added my PIN, but it still won't give me access to those features.
In IE, there was a setting to open links (e.g., ones selected by shift-clicking, or ones with a target attribute in the anchor tag) into a new window instead of a new tab. I can't find a way to do this in Edge - in general, the number of user-adjustable settings seems to be MUCH smaller in Edge. Is there a way?
