Dec 3, 2015Since the last update my links in my Windows Live email and several other programs won't connect anymore.

View 3 RepliesAnother issue I see (on a different Win10 machine) is when i right click the start menu the links that are pointed out in red do not work. all other links work fine. It seems the shortcuts are broken but i looked in the user folders and they are all there. clicking the links in the users folder opens the screens but using the shortcut doesn't seem to work. it's very odd.
This is a Win10 Pro machine.
Before 1 hour i updated to the last build but some problems appeared. I cant open Market when i click it shows the logo and then it close also when i try to play an mp3 it pops an error box saying "the remote procedure call failed" i cant open videos as well and also photos tab from start doesnt work too . I had a clean installation of the latest Official ISO from MS.
For example when I try open a pic I get this ....
I've done a clean install and yet the issue persists. What should I do?
View 1 RepliesTried both Edge and Chrome browsers as default. Hyperlinks work properly from progs, as they should, but nothing happens when I try to click on links from Apps.
Seems like the new start menu has some hyperlinks and nothing happens when I click them:
Red boxes do not work.
Same goes for the Twitter app, every time there is a tweet with a browser link, nothing happens.
Tried messing around with the default browsers, but never got it to work.
Hyperlinks seems to work from normal progs though.
At some point my "All apps" button has stopped working. Clicking on it causes the apps list to flash very very briefly then dumps me back to home screen. Everything else seems to work OK.
Where the links in that list of apps is stored? I'm thinking one of the links is broken causing the whole list to shut down, and if I remove links from the list one by one I can find it. That's the only thing I can think to try.
Unfortunately no restore points exist and Repair tools like Startup Repair Etc.
I noticed since going to 10 that clicking on magnet links does not open bittorrent. I have rerun windows and still the same problem. in cyberfox i fixed it easily enough, but for chrome and torch no love. I found a couple of things about registry entries but they did not work. I try to assign bittorrent to magnet links in windows but i cannot choose a default app from the system, I only get what you see below which is to "look for an app in the store". there must be a way to fix this so i can pick an app already on my system.
View 1 RepliesSo after I updated to windows 10, all my settings went back to default (custom resolution, monitor icc profiles etc). That was fine, I changed it all back but one thing I cant get fixed is the fact that my mic from my iphone headphones will not work as they did prior to this install). The problem is 100% with realtek audio manager and i cant seem to find the settings that would fix it. I know its realtek because after I uninstall realtek and restart, my default sound card goes to HD audio manager instead of realtek and then my mic works perfectly fine right after.
How I can get realtek to make my mic work? or to uninstall realtek as a whole? Every time I uninstall realtek, it automatically installs its way back to my computer.
Also, my webcam that is connected to a usb in the rear works perfectly fine, however, the quality of it isnt as good as my iphone headphones so i'd still like to get that fixed.
I am having trouble with the modern apps and connectivity. It feels like half my computer will connect to the internet, and the other half won't. Desktop apps like Chrome, Steam, Outlook, iTunes etc. all connect to the internet fine, but any of the Windows apps like Xbox, Store and (most frustratingly) Settings will not connect.
In my network and sharing centre in the control panel it says 'You are not connected to any networks' - but in the system tray, and in the settings app it shows me as connected to my home wi-fi. I am on a desktop, and using a USB wireless adapter. I don't think the adapter is the problem as I have tried it on another desktop in our house on Windows 10 and it worked fine. Curiously also, when I click 'Adapter settings' in the control panel, it shows the wifi connection.
I've tried updating the drivers for the wireless adapter, both through the Windows update and adapter website but to no avail (and as I mentioned, it seems the adapter works fine elsewhere). I've updated manually to the latest Windows 10 Pro build, i've done a DNS flush, I've tried disabling firewalls and anti-virus, I've tried disabling startup apps, I've done a clean install of Windows 10 and still am unable to fix the issue.
I am having a weird issue with Windows 10 on my custom built machine. I have Windows 10 Pro version 1511. I just today started having this issue. I am assuming it was after the latest update because I had no issues on the initial bootup.
I fired up the pc, logged on like normal, and nothing out of the ordinary happened. Windows tells me it has an update installed and needs to reboot. Not doing anything important, I decided to reboot and get it out of the way.
Well, upon rebooting, it goes to my locked screen like normal. I click on my mouse to bring up my pin screen to unlock the pc, and the mouse won't work. I look at the bottom of it, and the optical light isn't even lit. Keyboard's number lock light is on, but nothing on the keyboard responds either. I turn on a USB audio interface I have, and it shows that it won't connected to the pc like it should either. It is like all the USB ports are dead.
Not knowing what to do, I hit the old reset button, and boot into my BIOS. Mouse and Keyboard work fine without any issues in the bios pages. Load back into windows, and I notice that the mouse's optical light is on, UNTIL it loads windows up. It then goes dead.
I tried taking a PS2 to USB adapter to the PS2 port, and that didn't work either. Eventually, after I leave it sit on the login screen long enough, the USB ports become active and I can finally log in and use it like normal. But it takes literally 5 to 10 minuets. I check device manager and it does not appear that any USB drivers where updated or changed.
So far, I have rebooted twice and the problem happened at both boot ups, but eventually the USB ports kick on and let me log in. After I log in everything seems to be working fine.
Windows 10 went wrong Again! First I lost all my favorites, then my Computer experienced exceptions (what ever they are?) followed by random Crashes.
So I did a clean install using my ISO disc and tried to Install Page Plus X4 which was working fine before but it won't work now, even though I installed the latest patch.
I get told its an incompatible Programme, even though it worked OK before I did a clean install, with a note that says that Microsoft are looking for a Solution (you could have fooled me!) also I did the bit about using the Settings that worked on a Previous Programme but that didn't fix it either.
Also uninstalled and re installed the Programme but that didn't work either as did installing net framework.
Also when I get new emails, I am no longer getting advised of any new emails, so I have to keep checking my email box myself.
I looks like I may have to do yet another Clean Install.
I've tried turning off the Automatic Updates but that doesn't seem to work (maybe I'm doing it wrong, so how do I do that).
We couldn't get online to download your updates. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet.
have tried to search online, but no one lately has posted the same problem, this started 2 days after installment.
Laptop: HP-Pavilion Dv6-6c40ca
OS: Windows 10 (free upgrade)
Wireless adapter: Broadcom 802.11n (BCM9413HMGB)
I did the free upgrade from Windows 7 to windows 10 three weeks ago. It was a clean wipe/install and everything worked fine. I had working WiFi for three weeks.
Then I noticed windows updating itself when I powered-off the other night. The next morning my wifi was knocked out. Thew wifi symbol is still there, it just has a red circle with an x in it now. It doesn't show any networks. My other devices can 'see' over a dozen networks and can connect to my home network without issue.
Things tried:
-Uninstall/reinstall driver and restart
-"Roll Back Driver" and restart
-Download and install the latest driver from HP and restart
-Tried this solution to a tangentically related problem (that of people losing their WiFi directly after upgrading to windows 10)
Thoughts:
-the driver is very old (2012). the one from HP was uploaded in 2015 but when I click on the info I see it is issued in 2012
-Attempts to find the driver directly from Broadcom result here but these are all for Linux.. I am sure that Broadcom has windows drivers too, but how to find them?
(not sure how to link directly to image hosted on Google Drive. So this link is to a ss of my wireless adapters driver page in device manager) [URL]....
I am having trouble accessing MS app store and also updating office 2016 through any of the office applications.
My question is, will win 10 apps and office 2016 default update through windows update?
I upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago. Two days ago my computer is all the sudden automatically downloading some. Massive update that took a long time and rebooted my computer without prompting me.
After the download was complete I was able to use my computer seemingly as normal, but upon the next restart, the start menu wouldn't open, and the mouse wouldn't click on any of the icons. I tried a restart and got two pop up error messages saying something like "Windows failed to start properly." I tried a hard reboot a coupe times, same thing.
Google searched the problem, found this and followed the steps: How to fix Windows 10 start-up problems - Blackscreen, Bootloop, Infinite Loading [HD 60FPS] - YouTube
No luck. Now every time I boot up my computer it goes to the "automatic repair screen."
I have tried every option available from the "automatic repair screen" menu, including System Restore: because I just downloaded Windows 10, I had no restore points. System Image Recovery: it says have no image to recover). Start Up Repai: tells me Windows can't repair the problem. Command Prompt: I've been able to get in there but I don't really know what to do once there (tried what was suggested in the video above, no luck, everything was already set to zero) Startup Settings:WAS working, I was able to start up in Safemode once, still couldn't click anything and start menu still wouldn't work. Now when I click on Startup Settings and click the restart button to get to the Startup options it just brings me back to the "automatic repair screen" ...I think I've rebooted so many times at this point that my computer can't reboot without taking me there.
I've even tried the "reset this PC" option multiple times and every time it starts to reset, gets to 1% or 2% and then I get an error message saying something went wrong and the PC can't be reset.
My wireless HP keyboard Sleep function used to work perfectly before Windows 10 install. Simply used to hit the Sleep button to close down, and then again to reactivate the computer. Since installing Windows 10 it works to shut down, but does not reawaken the system. Very annoying - I don't want to have to open my laptop and hit the Power button every time, how to resolve.
View 2 RepliesI updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.
However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)
I cannot install anything from Windows Store. It will down load normally & then fail with error 80073DOA. Updates to Apps also fail to install with the same error. I have run wreset ( several times) but still no joy. Date & Time Zone are correct.
Windows Firewall must be enabled to allow the Store to Update & Install!
Found this by accident. I was running the Firewall that came with Norton Security. Why this is a requirement I don't know. Disabling the Norton Firewall was easy but there was no option to turn the windows Firewall back on as Norton had taken over so I went into Services & did it from there. All working fine now ))
Any apps I try and update attempt to install, but stay at 0.0mb downloaded, then it stops and produces this error: The happens with every app.
I read on some other forums on why this may be happening and someone suggested that it was because I had changed the permissions to the WindowsApps (C:Program FilesWindowsApps) folder so that I could view the files within it. Yes, I did try and change the permissions so I could edit the files within (I couldn't), just for fun and to see if it'd make any differences, so that is what I assume the problem is.
After learning this I tried to reset the permissions, how to, so I tried to replicate the permissions from a clean unaltered WindowsApps folder and it didn't work, no matter what I did. Windows Update doesn't even seem to fix it either.
So is there any way other than reinstalling windows to get the App Store working again?
Windows 10 Store gives error 0x803F8003 when trying to download/update apps
Note: the error appears right after it shows acquiring license.
All Windows Store apps that I have fail when they are automatically updated. Here's what I just got in my event log.
Event ID 20 - Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070002: OneNote.
When I go into the Store and look at the update it shows the update as having had a problem. I can click on the spinner icon which downloads and installs the app so all is not lost.
I don't have any other problems with Windows Update. Other than Store apps they all automatically install just fine. I've seen lots of various solutions for WU problems but I haven't found one specifically for Windows Store updates. I'm hesitant to try one of these solutions since WU works fine except for Store apps as I mentioned.
I was about to change my Wi fi settings, to detect my working Internet, when suddenly I clicked Wi Fi button the whole control panel freezed. I used task manager to terminate it. Later, some links couldn't work, for example, I needed to press "change adapter settings" for priority, but it did not immediately open.

What do I need do to get the Text links highlighted
I just got Windows 10 and finally got my 2003 Outlook Mail Client to work. Previously, when I clicked a link in my Reading Pane, it opened in IE, my default browser. Now, I get a dialog box asking me for my link browser and presenting a Documents directory. When I finally find Internet Explorer in my Programs and enter it, I get the IE Home Page. The link doesn't load. I can't get the dialog back to change anything. What can I do to see the page I click on in my reading pane?
View 1 RepliesWhenever I click links it opens it in Explorer instead of chrome now ....
View 1 RepliesI have updated my laptop to windows 10 and since then the app wont work, I have also tried loading it on the internet and chrome but it still doesn't work. Every time I go on it works but when I press what I want to watch it loads and then comes up with the message "There is a problem with this system's configuration that prevents Windows from playing protected video. Please make sue you have the latest Windows Updates {which I think I do but don't know how to check} as well as Windows 8 certified video and audio drivers installed".
