View 4 RepliesWhen I boot up my computer (to windows 10). It will do the Asus splash screen then instead of going straight to windows if does this black screen with the kinda terminal thing (with no writing/text) then goes on to windows. Does this affect my computer?
View 1 RepliesI was trying to install WMP on my PC; I disovered that it was already installed, even though there was no icon on the desktop, start menu or application bar.
Anyway, I'm now trying to set it as the default application for opening music CDs. The problem is that it is not listed in the default programs, and I cannot seem to get it included on the list. I know how to associate programs with different file types, but that's not really what I want; I'd like WMP to launch automatically when I insert a CD.
I just bought this new ASUS K550J laptop and came with Windows 8.1 with it but I wanted to install Windows 10, fresh install. I did the usual things needed for installation and it was ok but it takes too long to boot up. Here is a video of what am I speaking. It's UEFI and I think it's the Windows Boot Manager, how can I reset it?
Code:
Windows Boot Manager--------------------identifier {bootmgr}device
partition=DeviceHarddiskVolume2path
EFIMicrosoftBootbootmgfw.efidescription
Windows Boot Managerlocale
[Code] .....
I have win 10 pro installed on my dell e6410. When I start my laptop I see very bright blank white splash screen for 2 seconds during the boot process. The sequence is as folows:
1- I press start button and it powers up
2- Windows 10 logo screen appears
3- Very bright white splash screen appears for 2 seconds(This is not normal as i don't see it on work computer which also have windows 10 pro )
4- Then Windows 10 login screen appears and then everything normal.
How to get rid of appearance of this very bright white splash screen which appears during boot process as it is very annoying when you work in dark environment.
I have a desktop that I ran the update on from windows 7 up to windows 10. When I go to shutdown on this system it appears to begin the shutdown process. However, after a few moments with black screens and appearing to have shut down, the PC near turns off and shows the BIOS splash screen and begins to start windows up again.
I have tried various troubleshooting options on the internet though only resulting in - a screen every time I "shut down" that tells me that there has been an error and that the computer must restart, even though I was shutting it down in the first place... It also tells me that there is an error named "apple.sys" possibly causing the problem. The computer then restarts fine every time after that point though the only possible way of me shutting the computer down is manually holding the shut down button on my pc case. Then once I power up after that my computer fails to give power to my keyboard and mouse, to which I must then reset the BIOS every single time and then restart. This is the only way I can turn my pc back on after every time I manually power down - resetting the BIOS to bring power to my accessories. I dont really want to keep doing this every single night and plus I figure it must be bad for my pc.
I am now wondering if a clean install is my only option, or if there is some other way of keeping windows 10… just having it work properly.
I'm trying to run an application called MySQL Workbench which has been working perfectly fine up until last week which now displays the error message below. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail and talking to the Microsoft support helpline I'm passed from department to department with no resolution.
View 1 RepliesI have windows 10 installed and I have also installed the finale 2014 demo.
I am getting an error on launch of the application. It seems to be the only application that cannot run.
The error is:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
It seems to be an error with the C++ runtime. I have installed them but I have been unsuccessful.
After pinning some user-installed applications to the Start Menu they looked fine. Today, all the icons that should be displayed in the buttons are gone. To determine what a given button does I have to hover over it, and the title appears in text. They still work to institute execution but are surely not the intuitive, user-friendly stuff we are suppose to applaud in W10.
Like my other problems of this nature, restart does nothing to correct the problem. And I cannot remove and reinstall the buttons since a right-click on them does absolutely nothing. All Windows provided buttons still have their icons, but right clicking on them does nothing either. I can drag-and-drop the icons around on the right side but cannot even resize them since a right-click is useless.
Start button ceasing to work? I can't access many programs that I don't have as desktop shortcuts. None of the notification icons in the systray activate, so I can't access the notify center or change my wireless signal. I've seen this answered on many other forums, but none of the fixes seem to work for me.
View 3 RepliesWhen I log in, I want to go directly to the start screen rather than the desktop and having to click the windows icon/button.I have tried right clicking on the taskbar->properties->Navigation Tab and the only option there is the option to replace command prompt with windows powershell.
I have tried setting the group policy User Configuration->Administrative Template->Start Menu and Taskbar->"Go to the desktop instead of start when signing in" to both disabled and not configured with no effect.how to get the other options to show up in the Navigation Tab of taskbar properties or how to set the start screen as the default when signing in?I am on Windows 10 Pro build 10240, upgraded from 8.1 Pro and am logged in with an administrator account.
I'm wondering if there is a way I can add Control Panel to my start menu in the same area where Settings is currently located.
View 4 RepliesAnyway to make start button list all my applications without having to to click all apps and remove the abc categories?
View 2 RepliesOK, I recently 'upgraded' my windows 7 to windows 10. It was working fine since Christmas, then today it just freezes on the windows 10 splash screen, which as I'm sure you can guess is incredibly annoying.
View 4 RepliesWhen I open the app store, the splash screen comes up and then just disappears and nothing ever happens.
View 24 RepliesAfter successfully installing Win 10 it ran without any issues for about 1 day then Edge refused to launch, the splash screen opens for about 10 seconds and then disappears. The only change made to Edge was to import bookmarks from IE. Unsure where to start looking for an answer.
View 13 RepliesThe Windows store won't open and I'm not sure what to do when i click on it, the splash screen pops up for half a second then disappears as if I never opened it, however it used to work. I've tried running commands in the powershell, scanned my computer, cleared the cache, and when I used the store troubleshooter it said that I needed a microsoft account, although I had signed into my computer (and the store before).
View 1 RepliesYesterday I got a notification that my windows 10 upgrade was ready on my MSI GT60-0NE laptop and decided to give it a try because I really disliked windows 8.1. Windows update went through downloading the files and preparing the computer for installation. It then did the usual, configuring updates on the blue screen, got to 100% and just shut down completely. I left it there for about 5 minutes and decided to try to power it back on. When turning the computer back on, it stayed on for about a minute and then cut itself back off.
After waiting a minute it turned back on, then back off again. It kept repeating this for about 5 minutes. During this phase I saw absolutely nothing on the screen, no MSI loading splash screen, no cursor, absolutely nothing at all. I couldn't enter the BIOS, couldn't run recovery or even get into safe mode. Absolutely nothing worked. The battery light was also flashing blue which I had never seen before. During this time the hard drive light was flashing and flickering the usual red light.
I did a hard reset on the computer and then turned it back on. When i powered it back on the screen was still completely blank, no MSI splash screen, no cursors, couldn't enter the BIOS or anything. During this time the hard drive light was a steady red. The blue battery light was no longer there and it was back to its usual constant red light. After about 10 minutes the computer turned itself off. Being frustrated I left it overnight and tried again this morning.
When I power the computer on now, there is no hard drive light. It doesn't even give a single flash of red. The computer will stay on but just stays there at the black screen. I've tried to look for solutions but I can't get anything to work. The only thing I can hear running is the fan.
I've tried to remove the hard drive and boot to see if I could get into bios, still a black screen.
I've tried removing the video card and booting to see if I could get anything through integrated graphics, still a black screen.
I've tried to plug the computer into another monitor, still a black screen but it does recognize the signal.
Specs for the GT60-0NE 403-US:
Intel Core i7 3630QM (2.40 GHz)
Nvidia GTX 680M (4GB)
Windows 8.1 64-bit (Windows 10 now?)
I installed Windows 10 on my Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 8. Recently I can't launch Windows Store. It will show the splash screen and then quickly close.
View 2 RepliesRight, it is clear that the value of live tiles is rather reduced if they don't appear at boot to announce all updates. Especially if you don't want them clogging up the notification centre with stuff less important than emails and other comms. Don't suggest tablet mode. Until W10 works properly with swipes on precision touch pads like the T650 (rather than basic touch pads only like the ones on laptops) touch mode is pretty horrid on desktops.I found the group policy setting to force boot to start screen in W10 but it is bugged and does not work. Until MS get around to fixing it, we need a work around.
All we need is to make a Windows script that runs at boot to bring up the start screen. But how? What is the command to bring up the start screen from Power Shell or Command Prompt? Is there a way to trigger a virtual keypress at start to trigger the start screen?
How do I get 10 to boot direct without going through the start screen and requiring me to input a password every time. I'm the only one using this computer as administrator.
View 2 RepliesWindows 10 x64.I upgraded my SmartFTP application which I have done many times.
When I tried to run the application, I immediately had the error message: The application was unable to start 0x0000022.
I uninstalled (RevoPro) and reinstalled: same thing. I contacted Support who told me to reinstall my OS!I checked to see if this applied to all my applications. I found one application that had the same error: Corel Draw x8. I tried others which ran OK.I ran sfc /scannow without any integrity violations.I temporarily turned off AVG and tried to run the application - same error. I had to repair my Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition -

View 1 RepliesI just installed Windows 10 on my Asus pc and now the Minecraft launcher won't run, it gives me an error message "Application unable to start correctly (0xc0000018)". I have no clue what went wrong, but it doesn't want to work. I will only take restoring to an earlier date as a last resort.
