Apps :: Microsoft People App Corrupted And Can't Reinstall
Dec 19, 2015
As others have noted, the bundled Microsoft People app tried to update this morning, but mine failed (as per reliability history). After that, clicking on the People app icon failed to launch the app.
So I decided to try and uninstall the app in order to reinstall it from the windows app store. Using powershell in admin mode, I think I managed to uninstall it, but perhaps not completely. Now the app icon has gone from All Apps, but searching for people finds something called @ {Microsoft.people_10.0.3450 ... etc.
Also, finding the People app in the Store says that it's already installed.
How to I properly clear it off my system and reinstall it properly? I know it might not be the best contacts app out there, but it's OK and right now it's a mess that I want to try to sort out...
My new ASUS laptop came with Windows 10, so this is not an upgrade install, but an OEM purchase, and therefore not a pre-release build. My problem is this: I accidentally uninstalled the Mail/Calendar app that comes with Win10, thinking that they were two separate apps. In uninstalling Mail (which I have no use for), the uninstall also took away Calendar (done through a Powershell command).
I understand I can get these back through the App Store, but only if I have a Microsoft Account. I do not want, and do not have, a Microsoft Account. Is there ANY way I can get the Calendar app back on my machine? I do not want to convert my local account to a Microsoft Account.
Out of habit I ran SFC scan after finishing Win10 upgrade & Windows Updates and found out that MicrosoftEdgeSquare44x44.scale-125_contrast-white.png is corrupted. After a quick google search, seems there a few other Win10 users with the same problem.Neither SFC or DISM seem to be able to fix the problem.I also saw someone mention this is a 'false positive' hash mismatch but at least in my case the image really is corrupted (as in, if I open it in a image editor, it fails with corrupted image error). All other Edge images in the folder open correctly in image viewer.
how to repair systemapp files? I'm assuming DISM/SFC fail because the system apps seem to be different from regular system files (e.g. you cannot find them on the install media from what I can see).
The last time I used the collection it closed suddenly on me. When I tried to re-open it I pushed all the correct buttons but nothing happened apart from a quick flash of the initial page then it said it was loading but all I then got was the endless dots going around in circles and nothing else. I looked up different support forums for a fix and chose one that said I should uninstall the collection and then re-install. So I went to start/apps/Microsoft solitaire and uninstalled it.
I left it for a day and then coming back to it yesterday I tried to re-install it. Found the relevant page where it said "You own this product and can install it on this device."
clicked install and then got the working dots and then endless dots,
so far the 'working .......' have been running for an hour now and still it goes on.
When I try to add an account to the Mail, Calendar or People apps I get a "Something went wrong" error, code 0x80070422.
I have run sfc /scannow, DISM /cleanup-image etc, tried stopping and starting the credential manager and setting it to start automatically, but no luck.
I came across a fix for the TP that involved using powershell to remove the package and then reinstall it from the store, but when I run this it appears to complete correctly but the apps remain installed. I also tried removing them as per this and then reinstalling them, but the problem remains.
I've just installed Windows 10 Build 10122 on my SP3 (finally) and I have a problem. The old people app seems not to be correctly installed and I'm not able to uninstall it...
And the new People app and Store (Beta) opens but crashes after a few seconds...
Following the November update (not necessarily caused by it) my Desktop calendar has become drastically corrupted. Among the symptoms are: it closes frequently, it will not let me edit or delete entries, it has replicated past entries in large numbers which I am not able to delete, most options / settings are unavailable ------ in short it is a useless mess.
I wanted to uninstall and re-install, something which often sorts a failing app out ---- but uninstall is not available. Except that it can be done (I have read) via CCleaner. Unfortunately, (a) it is displayed as Mail and Calendar, and I do not want to uninstall Mail (b) I do not know if I am able to uninstall Calendar, will I be able to re-install it?
I found out that some apps were corrupted on this system (2 weeks old) so I was told to disable or reinstall them. Turns out they don't seem to even be installed (don't remember which they were) - so I started looking around and found out running windows update gives me an error as well running windows apps.
Tried reinstalling app store with powershell and get an error (see attached)
with (Add-AppxPackage -register "C:Program FilesWindowsApps Microsoft.WindowsStore_2015.21.12.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe AppxManifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode)
I have the release Windows 10. I have successfully linked my google account, and mail and calendar seem to work fine. But not the people (contacts) app. The account is listed in People, I can tell it to sync, get no error message, but no contacts arrive.
I upgraded my wife's Surface 3 to W10 on Friday and the good thing is that now I can add her iCloud account to the People App.
I logged into her Outlook.com account on the web and deleted all of her contacts to avoid duplicates, but all contacts in the W10 People App still show as having a "linked" Outlook entry.
Although I can manually go into each one and unlink the accounts, then delete the Outlook.com entry, how can get it to do a re-scan so it knows they have been deleted?
I can't remove the Outlook account from the People App as that's the one she signs in with and there is now option to delete it anyway.
I'm on the build 10122 insider preview of windows 10. My outlook is not syncing to the mail and people apps. When I press refresh they keep refreshing for sometime and then just return nothing. My google account had no issues syncing to the same app. The outlook account says there is some error with the account and asks if I want to fix it, and when I press fix button, it just does nothing. I cant get to delete the account so I can reenter my credentials, how to delete account or changing credentials? The account opens fine on the web.
I am trying to add an email address from an existing email from the Windows 10 Mail app to the Windows 10 People app. I click the email adress, click OPEN CONTACT, click SAVE. It does not save. Instead, it opens my list of contacts and asks me to "Choose a contact". I have to be able to save new contacts from my emails I receive.
We have lot of apps turnings into the live tile when pinned to start in the Windows 10 mobile. Where is the option to turn live tile off for selected apps.
So one time I decided to use windows 10 manager mail and people backup tool and then when mail app started to act unresponsive I imported them back and since then I can't remove add/delete any old email accounts.. Where is this thing stored or how can I remove them?
Remove an account - Cannot add any accounts to Mail, Calendar or People apps doesn't work since I cant access the accounts inside the app.. Enabling onedrive or this command didn't do anything either. Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}
All I see is this e.g. People app..By mail app just this error if i try to add any account as seen on the right picture. Its like they're burred deep inside the system and I just can't get rid of them to add them new again. I reinstalled both apps and its still showing this list.. How can I remove these accounts?
I am having some trouble getting the default store apps to work. As for the store itself, it used to briefly show the splash then crash. Now it is just an unknown file type that doesn't do anything when clicked. I have tried some of the more common fixes, like the powershell re-register scripts, but none work, all returning errors of one kind or another. At this point, would it just be easier to "Reset this PC", or is there another fix I may not have tried?
Well, it is a continuing issue. Over last two updates, I faced some issues with the metro apps. After the updates, some apps fail to work. Previously, when I installed the 10159 upgrade, some apps did not respond for the first time. The process that I followed was to uninstall the probleming apps using PowerShell and then install them back from store.
Now, with the 10166 upgrade, the store itself was the problem, alongwith two other apps. So I uninstalled store itself too (using powershell) .... and I think that I have done something very wrong. No way I am seeing to get those apps back in this situation. Is there any way to get store back without performing a clean reinstall?
OK so I installed and have been running W10 today. I noticed that I did not have a Quick Access link to my OneDrive. So I went to Programs and Features and found it in the programs list. I clicked on it thinking it would open up and allow me to change the settings. OOPs! It uninstalled OneDrive from the programs list. Now I can't find it anywhere on my computer, other than when I log in on the web page. So can I reinstall OneDrive and have it show in my file manager as a drive like it used to in WIN 8.1?
when I reset my PC due to a pop up war from IE running in the background, My PC seems to be running better but I am missing preinstalled apps. Facebook, twitter is not there and when I went to windows store the message is ..
You own this product it can be installed on this device
Shows the facebook icon and under it has the the file size and it just continues to say pending
So , I tiried the " fix " in powershell but some of the commands used do not exist it says. I even went to windows club to find out and their commands did not work in powershell either
Skype does not work in Windows10, not possible to reinstall. First I could not close Skype.
Today I could not open. Restart the OS, no start. I tried to install Skype again. Does not work. After an hour it is still updating.
Chrome destroyed by windows 10
Edge sux:
- slow - cannot work with Discuss properly - browser URL space is not intuitive. OMG Double work to find your banks, everything. Terrible. Please pay for google, buy something - not efficient in monitor use: unnecessary thick headings, unmanageably (by touch pad) thin rolling column.
It seems like something went wrong during the installation process and Windows Store did not install properly. As such I can't even open it. I have tried different method suggested online, but none is working. I am just wondering if there is a way to force reinstall the Windows Store.
my mail and calendar and skype and messeging apps are not working right and I would like to reinstall them to see if that would fix them but I don't know how to do that.
I am running Windows 10 Build 10130 and none of the apps listed above will launch from the start tile menu or the all apps list. It appears that most of the apps that came with Win 10 won't launch but the apps that I pinned to the start menu work fine. Since I rarely used these apps I don't know how long this problem has been going on. I restored back to an earlier restore point but the problem is still there. I know it is something I screwed up but I can't figure it out.
Right now some of the 'default' application's that come loaded with windows 10 are working..but for some reason some of them are not. The one I'm most concerned about is Mail & Calendar, right now when I go into the windows store..it shows I have update's available, it adds them to the download queue properly..but upon trying to download / install them I get a message that says ' Try that again-see details, Something went wrong, The error code is 0x80070003 in case you need it.
I've tried several thing's to try and correct this..so far no luck, I know there must be a way to correct this. I was previously running Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14251 , but I had some issue's with it..so I had to go back to Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 11102.Now when I try and update some of my application's, this is what I'm seeing.
i just installed windows 10 from a flash drive and i have encountered a few problems:i can't use any Microsoft apps (including the one you need to link your microsoft account) start menu and search doesn't start i can't right click any apps in my taskbar
