View 3 RepliesI reinstalled Windows to try to fix an issue, but it did not work. I am installing my programs to an alternate drive, and would like to install Java there as well. I know about the JRE_HOME environment variable, but it can only point to 32 OR 64-bit Java. Is there any way to have both running simultaneously without need to switch the variable to the 64-bit path? I think that this does happen when I install to the default location, so how can I do that?
View 3 RepliesAlso I cant access the Universal Applications folder, the apps seems to be working fine tho but the folder is in-accessible.
View 1 RepliesI keep getting random weather from places I've never been to. Corby, Kettering and now Northampton. How do I delete these to leave only my home location?
View 1 RepliesA weather app (?) has mysteriously appeared in my notification area. Apart from it showing Sheffield 80 miles away I would just like to get rid of it.
View 9 RepliesI have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 Pro and everything was fine then. But recently I am experiencing an issue which is Windows weather app dissapears/close suddenly when kept open for a few seconds.
I am showing a video regarding the issue .... [URL] ..
System Specs:
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo
Motherboard - Gigabyte (G31M-ES2L)
RAM - 4 GB
Graphics Card - NVIDIA GTX 560 (2 GB)
OS - Windows 10 Pro (64 bit)
how do you change the location for the weather that cortana reports?
View 1 RepliesOn the Calendar app it has started to finally show the weather, just like the one in outlook(dot)com now. I don't know if this is new and mine has just kicked in, but the setting for it has been in the apps options for sometime but no temps or suns & clouds showed....
View 1 RepliesI've used desktop gadgets forever to display a clock, a calendar and weather for several cities. I know that gadgets are gone, so I'm looking for a replacement that meets my needs. I'm not optimistic, but perhaps there are solutions I've missed so far.... I need them to appear when Windows startup I want them to be small (not taking up too much of the screen) For weather, I need to be able to have multiple cities open at the same time and not getting in each other's way
View 2 Repliesmy most used App the Windows Weather app has stopped working, I click on it to open and it open and then closes again right away. Is there anyway I can fix this? Is it a common Win 10 app system fault with the app or is my PC specific that has the problem?
View 7 RepliesStarted around the 25th or 26th. Some of the commenters on the app page seem to have the same problem. What exactly is the 0x80073B0C error?
View 2 RepliesI have 3 live weather tiles in my apps. One of them is working fine, but the other 2 are not live. Can you have more than 1 live weather tile apps for different locations?
I have a surface pro 3 with windows 10. Software is updated. My other live tiles are working just fine.
I always have to open these apps twice because they crash when I first try to open them.
I've tried running wsreset but it keeps happening.
How do I set Cortana to automatically detect my weather location?
She has asked me to enter my City for weather locations.
But, I want her to automatically detect my location instead of me having to do it by putting in my city.
I have just installed the Threshold 2 update but still my Weather live tile is not working, it worked for a few days after I upgraded from Windows 8 to 10 but ever since then it's not worked, I was hoping this big update was going to fix this.
Is there a way I can reinstall the weather app?
My weather live tile doesn't work no matter what...all the other tiles works flawlessly.
View 2 RepliesSince US changed from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time this morning [11/1/15] the times for sunset and sunrise are 1 hour off. The DST times are still displayed. I can't find a setting change that will work.
View 2 RepliesI am using Windows 10 Professional edition. Following some random Windows Update a few months ago, my default Windows 10 weather app (the one that can be pinned to the start menu) displays the temperature properly and updates regularly, however, if I click to open it, it opens blank....basically, the window is just the blue background with the little icon of the sun in the center.
This app used to work 100% before.Lastly, I remember my calendar app not opening at all when Windows 10 was fresh. It would immediately close upon opening the calendar app. However, following some random Windows Update, the calendar app started working properly.
I "upgraded" to Windows 10 from 8.1, but I did a FULL install and chose to "save nothing" from 8.1, so it is about as legit as it can get to being a full installation and not an upgrade.
PS, it doesn't seem to matter if I enable to disable background data for the Weather app in privacy settings. I have tried it out both ways, and either way, on or off, the live tile for the weather app still updates, but opens blank and won't show me the large view when I click on it.
I don't use any other apps, I have not downloaded any other apps from the app store, and I have deleted some of the apps that came with Windows 10. I prefer to use my web browser for most things.
i having issue with windows store app that not updating 0x080073B0C update failed please try again.
i already tried uninstall the app, which cause me stuck, because i cant install it anymore i also already tried wsreset, not working i disable few stuff... tried turn back on but nothing working...
turn on back location/position function to on (i disabled it) also in local group policy , i set back to allow microsoft account (i set to block sign-in because i dont want to login)
i read that there is another method that stop windows update service then move/rename softwaredistribution... so windows update make new fresh directory i havent tried it, because it seems there is something wrong with the app itself and if possible i dont want to messing with system files.
In Windows 8.1, if I split my display in half - I could have multiple apps like Internet Explorer and Visual Basic open. Then if I was watching a video on YouTube in full screen mode, the video would still only be displayed in the half of the screen so I could still multitask and do something else in the other half. However if I try to do this in Windows 10, the YouTube video in full screen mode does actually put the video in full screen and takes up the whole display. Is it possible to just get it to display in half of the screen like in Windows 8.1 or is this not yet possible? Was a really handy feature!!
View 1 RepliesIn my home theatre I have a Win 10 Pro PC , set up for Extended Display set up for:
- a large 4k TV (the default), with high res settings (Monitor 2)
- a small legacy 17" display, low-res settings (Monitor 1)
The large screen is the default screen, as that's what I need to be displayed when watching media, and controlling things via a wireless keyboard on the couch.
The purpose of the small display is simply so that I don't have to have to keep the large display on when:
-doing minor config/setup work
-listening to music via iTunes
-viewing the 'current' song being played on my digital cable box
-etc
It's more or less working well, but THE ISSUE IS THIS:
When working when both displays are on, and the active window in on the large display, I can select it and drag it over to the small display to work with. But when the large display is powered off, I am blind ; all I see is the task bar and whatever I launch goes , of course, goes to the default display.
-Is there any tool or utility I can use to virtually see the open window on the active monitor and so I can drag it over?
-Is there any tool or utility , like TeamViewer has, where there is a top level menu "Next Monitor" to manage the screens.
Ironically, when I do use Team Viewer from another room, its perfect as I can flip between monitors at will (as I am starting on the 'default' screen). But when I am in front the physical machine, in front of the small monitor, I dont have that option.
What I kinda need is the multiple monitor option of Duplicated displays, but that does not work because of the different resolutions.
I can use Show Desktop Only on 1, as I cant get there ( ie a right click will always show up on the large screen only as is the default.
I need to power up the large display, drag the window (eg iTunes) to the smaller display, and then turn off the large TV.
Just installed Win10 yesterday, and taking a first look at the Calendar app. Unless I have overlooked something, this app has a flaw that makes it almost not worth using.
I'm using the app to display my Google Calendar events, a month at a time. In many cases, I have enough events scheduled for a single day that they won't all fit in the cell in Month View. Is there really no way to display all the events for a given date (including the ones that don't fit) in Month View? (For example, in the Calendar app on my phone, it is usually the case that not all the events for a given date show in the grid, but tapping the date in question displays a pop-up that shows them all). This app just runs them off the bottom of the cell. It doesn't even alert you to the fact that there are additional events for that date that it isn't displaying!
I am looking for a text editor which will allow me to take multiple lines from one text file (I also have the information in a spreadsheet) and will then replace then lines in another line of that document.
I am trying to make a list for my books and comics.
<Book Series="{name}" Number="{no.}" Volume="{year}" </Book>
<Book Series="{name}" Number="{no.}" Volume="{year}" </Book>
For the comics it would need to replace the above format so;
<Book Series="{Batman}" Number="{01}" Volume="{2011}" </Book>
In the previous versions of Windows it was possible to select multiple pictures in a folder and when I hit enter, it opened a single instance of Photo Viewer. Then I could go left or right and it only showed me the pictures I selected. In Windows 10 however, selecting multiple pictures and hitting enter opens up multiple instances of Photo Viewer.
View 8 RepliesWhen I first upgraded, the taskbar on my first display was located on the left side of the display and the taskbar on my second display was located on the bottom. I liked this. But I wanted to see how I'd like having both on left hand side. I went into taskbar properties. `Taskbar location on screen` was set to `custom` and I changed it to `left`.
I decided I didn't like this and wanted to change it back. But `custom` no longer appeared in this drop down and I couldn't find any other option to change them separately. Is there any way to change it back? Perhaps a specific registry key?
I'm looking to customize what appears in the quick access menu and I am also looking to give Google Drive it's own drop down menu (not in quick access), is there some folder options that I can change somewhere to customize these things?
Also how do I get rid of stuff in quick access? it looks really untidy and it's bothering me
