why my Office Word 2013 automatically makes copies of the documents I edit? These copies are numbered: *(1).docx, *(2).docx, etc. I am working on an essay and now I have ten copies of the same file.

How you change the font of the footnote numbering in a document? Whenever I insert footnote, I get the number (1, 2, 3 ...) in "Times New Romans." I am using "Arial" for my writing, but I want the font "Tahoma" for the numbers of the footnotes. Is there any way to modify the font?

BACKGROUND: Win10 upgrade on Alienware 17 R2 (2015 model) from 8.1 went well - no errors.After using for a few days (normal shutdown / startups), used MS Word to create a document.

I am using Word 2013 on my laptop. Windows 8 was operating system. Recently upgraded to Windows 10. When I save Word documents now, they are saved as Wordpad documents. (.xml files) Wordpad does not recommend some of the Word formatting and alters the documents.
How do I correct this? I want the save as Word documents, as I did in the past.
OK so I have Word 2013 installed and I want it to be the HTML editor in IE 11 [Version 11.0.10240.16431 loaded].
The Internet Options page for HTML editing on my PC only allows me to choose Notepad.

I'd upgraded my sister's laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without saving any of its files (clean install). Now I was told that she does not know her Microsoft office keys.
Is there any way for me to retrieve the keys? It's a student key which was given by her Uni and she does not keep the keys.
After install of November update, or 1511 (for the 11th month of 2015), or build 10586 windows 10 update now all apps in Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus except Microsoft Word configure each time they start.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus with same result.
I'm running Windows 10 64-bit and noticed one day when opening my start menu to open up word that in the programs list (now called "all apps" for some reason) the launcher for Microsoft Office 2013 Word wasn't in the folder labeled "Microsoft Office" but rather, it was under the "W" section as its own program. I went into the file location, and all the applications are in a folder there, but for some reason in the start menu, it's not in the Microsoft Folder. This bugs me, and I can't find any way to edit the start menu's folders/programs etc. in Windows 10. Before I continue, I must say that I'm a little biased toward the older versions of Windows, and am rather dissatisfied with the way Microsoft is heading.

In Word 2010 you could Customize and make a Keyboard Shortcut by selecting InsertImagerScan. In Word 2010 I made this shortcut by using the CTRL+8 keys and I could scan directly into Word 10 by using that key combination. This was an issue as I was unable to locate it in the task bar anymore.In order to update my file, I was forced to go back to laptop mode so I had the keyboard option available again.

All says "Waiting for install". After I do install, the same updates are listed next time I run Windows update.
I have run the Microsoft Office Cleanup tool, that did not solve the problem.
I have run Avast Register Cleanup, that also did not solve the problem.
I installed windows 10 old window files were deleted today. Now my Microsoft word 2013 has no spell check.
View 1 RepliesSince I upgraded to Windows 10; I have noticed that all my older Word documents have been made "Read Only". Despite changing the properties to correct this. Word still loads them as Read Only documents and will not let me make changes. I also noticed; that since the upgrade, despite my account having FULL ADMINISTRATOR rights and permissions, Every action I take to attempt to correct any issues pops up the message that I need administrator rights to complete the action. The problems I experience on my Laptop don't apply to back-ups of the documents on external storage devices. Is there a simple fix for this?

Not much support there. Fortunately I have a 99% backup but I now do not trust Windows 10 not to lose more. I think there is a bug in the migration but cannot get the message to Microsoft
View 2 RepliesWith Windows 10, I only want to use the default mail application, I don't want to have to use the desktop Outlook version. But I use Word a lot and have to send a lot of documents as attachment, so with Outlook for desktop I used the share > E-mail function. Now with the default e-mail app as a default mailing program, I get the error "there is no email program associated to perform the requested action" and after that "Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure".
Any solution to make the desktop version of Word work with the default mail application? Word Mobile can already send e-mails using the default mail app, but then again, you need an office 365 subscription to even use Word Mobile...
I have PhotoShop which runs fine under win10 bty BUT I really like the little Photos app for quick editing however. It doesn't work all the time.
The app itself never fails to launch but with about half of the pictures that I try to edit give me the error that says "Can't edit" YOU CAN SEE A SCREEN CAP OF THIS EXACT ERROR.
Now, I have checked permissions of the files and even with photos with identical sets some will edit with no issues and the others get that same exact error message!
I have done everything I can think of including uninstalling the Photos app and then reinstalling it from the store. DID not change anything.
Yes, all of the jpg default programs are set to the Photos app (triple checked all those).
The list that shows up when choosing to share something from an app (like an article from news app).
I want to do that because it's long list that has options I would never tap on...
I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. My upgrade has been fairly buggy, but I am slowly working things out. One thing I can't seem to solve is my office apps are not showing up in the start menu folder. I had office 2010 before the upgrade, and that is when I first had the problem. I then uninstalled 2010 and upgraded to office 2013, and the problem persists.
After a few restarts and such I noticed the folder for office 2013 did show up in the start menu, but the only thing inside that folder is infopath. You can see what I mean in the attached screen shot. Also you will notice another folder beneath the first title Microsoft Office 2013. That folder was pinned to the start menu so that I could still access my office apps. I just did that as a quick fix. But not when I right click on that folder there is no option to unpin from the start menu. It only says pin to start menu.
I wonder if there is a way (through editing system files or registry) to change Windows 10 Start Menu "All apps" to something else like "My Programs". Also where is the icon file located in the system and how to change the default icon.
View 2 RepliesI have 3 photo edit/print programs on board, all of which worked perfectly under windows 7. However, since upgrading (?) to 10 I now find that none of them work properly, various problems, particularly printed image size. For instance, I wanted to print a 6" x 4" photo at actual size, but could only get it to print to full A4. After much fiddling & cussing I thought I had managed to get it to behave, only to find that it would then only print out at 3" x 2"!!! Is the problem with the software or is it the printer/laptop setup? I use an Epson XP-700 printer.
