View 3 RepliesI was wonding if I can backup OneNote? Like if I want to do a clean install of Win10 in the future. Right now I'm using Notepad for all of my notes but thinking about moving everything to OneNote if I could back it up.

View 9 RepliesI'm using a Surface 3. I installed the OneNote desktop (2016 I think; OneNotes doesn't make it easy to discover which version you're using) alongside the app. Mostly I work in the desktop OneNote, but for a quick note, pressing the top of the stylus and getting straight into taking a note is very convenient.
I'd swear when I first started doing this, the notes I created with the app appeared in the Quick Notes notebook of the desktop OneNote. Now they don't; they're different ones; older ones I think. How to make notes created in the app appear in a desktop version notebook?
I just updated my windows 10 and all of my windows store, windows onenote, cannot be open.
View 2 RepliesI'm running Office 2013 and Windows 10. I also have my own personal Office 365 account.I have been using the Windows Store OneNote app with my personal Windows Account OneDrive since Windows 8. I now want to transition everything to my OneDrive for Business account. When I use the Windows Store OneNote app and try to add the OneDrive for Business Account, after I enter my login credentials, I just get a blank popup window with the "#" in the upper-left interior of the window. All I can do is close the window at that point.
I tried entering a wrong password, just to make sure that it was properly checking my credentials and that test passed, so it is definitely not a password issue. I authenticate, but then nothing is displayed in that popup window for me to complete the addition of the new account.Of course, if I use my Office 365 OneNote app, it works fine, no issues. But when I use the Windows Store OneNote app, that's when I get the problems I describe above.
The Desktop version, OneNote 2013, also works fine with my OneNote for Business/Office 365 notebook. Is there something I am doing wrong not have not setup correctly?
I'm not at home with access to Windows 10. Does this still works with Windows 10?
View 5 RepliesI'm trying to customize the "All apps" menu. In C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms I created a folder 'Utilities' and in it two folders (folderA and folderB with shortcuts in them. When I open Utilities in the "All Apps" menu I cannot see folderA or folderB and alll the shortcuts in those two folders are stacked together under the Utilities heading. What have I missed here? I'm trying to create a hierarchic menu structure and I read somewhere that this is the way to do it.
View 1 RepliesI'll try to summarize it in bullet points:
* I was having problems with the calendar app, hence I tried removing it
* I stumbled upon PowerShell and removed the app (along with mail)
* I can't open Windows store afterwards
* I tried following some restore fixes online, but to no avail
* I downgraded to Windows 8.1 in hopes to undo my mistake
* After reverting to 8.1, the calendar, mail, people, viber, and fresh paint app don't function anymore.
* I am re-downloading Windows 10 to see if it could miraculously make things right again
* If it does not change, my last resort would be to reset my PC. Hence the title of this post

Right so, I have been trying to create application shortcuts in the "all apps" of the start menu. I've had success with some shortcuts. Here is a screenshot, with an example of what I am talking. The following shortcuts are behaving as I want them to,The following shortcut is not behaving as I want it to.. it keeps pinning to start despite all my attempts to unpin it and recopy to the folder, they are all shortcuts to executable files. Why is windows handling some of them differently?
I recently installed Windows 10, and everything was fine until I started installing my programs and wanted to pin the ones I use most to the taskbar.
Some of them can be pinned to the taskbar, but others can't for some reason. Even though they have the option "Pin to taskbar" when I right click, nothing happens after I click it, they don't get pinned. I have tried all methods described in this article.
This is a screenshot of my desktop with all icons that can be pinned to the taskbar in green, and the ones that can't be pinned in red (examples: Steam, AIMP, CCleaner, Word). Note that "metro" apps can be added without any problem. Also, I didn't have this issue in Windows 8/8.1.
And here examples of the methods I have tried.
(right click from desktop shortcut)
(right click from start menu)
(right click from taskbar after opening the program)
shortcuts don't work on start or taskbar
Just installed Windows 10 - totally successful BUT: no shortcuts/links work in start menu, desktop or taskbar except for links to modern UI apps. Even weirder - shortcuts work if palced in saem directory as the target file/exe but not if then moved elsewhere, like desktop. And even weirder - right clicking a short cut and selecting open or run as administrator don't work, but selecting 'run with graphics card' does work.
I've tried every conceivable setting and nothing works. going crazy. This is installed on a Dell laptop.
I just recently got a Windows 10 PC, and I am having a problem. While general keyboard shortcuts (like Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V) work in all applications, shortcuts specific to an application don't work.
View 4 RepliesWhen installing programs most place their shortscuts in the Public folder instead of placing them in the user folder. What am i doing wrong? I never had this problem with Windows 8.
View 2 RepliesWhy onedrive deleted all my files?I had 20 mp3 on my hard disk after i restarted my pc onedrive deleted all of them and put in trash bin.

View 9 RepliesI have an SSD (This PC) for Windows, HDD (secondary disk) for files and whatnot. Running Windows 10 64-bit Home.
I saw that you could move apps to another disk through Apps & features in Settings, so I decided to try it out.
I moved an app to my secondary disk, and it cluttered up with like 3 folders (my personal folder, WindowsApps, wpsystem). Changed my mind on this, and moved the app back to my SSD.
I tried deleting the extra folders left over...only to find out that WindowsApps can't be deleted on my secondary disk.
So, basically:
WindowsApps is completely empty on my secondary disk. I tried taking ownership, tried Unlocker, tried the administrator account, tried changing security options. They were all denied access, what to do next.
Am I stuck with this empty WindowsApps folder on my secondary disk?
It seems windows keeps deleting random files, uninstalls programs , resets file associations...
In the past few weeks I have had stuff just dispear from my computer everything from important documents to programs being uninstalled without permission Shortcuts and file association...
I have done several scans for virus, malware and general crapware using Sybot S&D AdAware, Avast!, Avira, Norton, McAffee, MalwareBytes, and they all come up clean for that crap....
How do I backup Windows 10 OneNote?
View 1 RepliesIs there a way of re-eabling this: [URL] ....
kind menu in OneNote in Windows 10? It isn't showing anywhere for me and the app lacks most of the functionality it had in Win 8(.1) without it..
[URL] ..... It's like opening the keyboard but it's all messed up. I've done clean installs to and it still does it.
It was actually happening in the build before this one but I wanted to see if it would go away but it didn't. It happens even if I don't use my pen button and just use the tool from OneNote.
SP3 W10 Build 10130
I want to remove this shorcuts from... Start - All apps...
- Contact Support
- Microsoft Edge
- OneDrive
- Search
- Settings
- Windows Accessories
- Windows Administrative Tools
- Windows Easy of Access
- Windows Feedback
- Windows PowerShell
- Windows System
I can't find where the shortcuts are (most of them), even with this tutorial "All apps in Start menu - Add or Remove Items in Windows 10".
On my Lenovo Miix 2 I cannot create desktop shortcuts.
View 2 RepliesUPDATE: See Edwin's method in Post #4 for IE it is much easier than mine. But for other browsers use this method.
Since you cannot just drag and drop a shortcut to a web site into the app menu the way I do it is to create a short cut on my desktop then copy it into the start menu:
%AppData%MicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
You'll need admin privileges to do this. Then open the start menu and put the mouse pointer on it, right click and select pin to start. If you want to do this for all users use this path:
%ProgramData%MicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
You can create a folder just for there shortcuts or just let them stand on their own. Be aware that if you ever delete the folder and or the shortcut then the pinned short(s) will cease to work.
One of my window 10 machine has issues with launching shortcuts (it goes straight to properties) and right clicking the desktop/tray/taskbar doesn't nothing.
