Apps :: Picasa Has Disappeared And Now Have System Microsoft Photos 2015
Feb 10, 2016
My Picasa has disappeared and I now have a system - Microsoft photos 2015 - . Where do I find out how to use it?
Some, but not all of my photos are there and I can find no way to import from a memory stick - an "import" instruction does not seem to exist.
What is the best and or easiest way to transfer my photos from Picasa that are currently on my desktop to my new laptop? My desktop is Windows XP and my laptop is Windows 10.
I'd like to have the Microsoft Edge Icon on the taskbar again as the only way to access it at the moment is using the search field at the far left of the taskbar running along the bottom of the screen and for some reason this doesn't respect the settings I have. In particular, it searches using Bing rather than Google (in the settings I have specified that it should use Google).
I have got a lot of photos on my drive but since the upgrade from 8 to 10 they have gone, I am not very tech savvy but I can't seem to find them at all. I have gone through all of the photo folders and they all say they are empty. I did not change anything prior to the upgrade and my desktop background was working fine, since the upgrade though, the background has gone and I can't find the file when I browse for it. Could it be that the permissions or account info have been changed automatically? how I can restore my photos and background?
I'm using Windows 10 Pro, 64 Bit, and the "Top Sites" on the Startup page seems to have disappeared. I don't remember installing any software or drivers lately.
I have my albums organised on OneDrive yet when I go into Microsoft Photos on my Surface Pro 3 (Windows 10) its showing none of my albums at all under the 'albums' tab. Tried signing out and back into app. Nothing working. Strange thing is on my Lumina 930 (Windows 10 Preview latest build) my albums are showing under albums in photo app. All my albums are in the cloud so baffled why it shows on phone but not on my surface.
Preface: I had Windows 8.1 and I never used SkyDrive or, later, OneDrive, but since it's so inbred with Windows 10, I wanted to at least check it out. Especially after all of Microsoft's hype and the $16 Billion they poured into cloud research. I also have a Windows Phone, so I was curious how well it would actually sync things.
So, I install Windows 10. I'm poking around. I see OneDrive listed as a program on the start menu, I click it and nothing happens. I open up file explorer. OneDrive is listed on the left navigation pane above "My PC." I click on it and it disappears. Poof! There are still OneDrive folders scattered throughout my C:Windows, so I know there are remnants of it hanging around somewhere. I surmised that the program on my start menu was the leftover OneDrive app from Windows 8.1. So, I uninstalled that. Of course, there's no reinstallation file for Windows 10, because, "it's just supposed to be there."
I was having issues in my original Windows Account where I was unable to use the search bar, windows button, or store, so I got to create a new account on my computer. I did, and the search bar and windows button now work. I copied my files from my old account to my new one, but I do not have the Windows 10 Store. When I try to download something, it says I need a new app: ms_windows_store.
Under This PC > OS (C:) > Users, I was able to see that under my new account, there are 6,000 less files even though I copied and pasted them all.
So my question is twofold, how do I get Windows 10 Store back, and when can I delete the files from my old account (I just doubled everything).
I have been having an issue where I am received an intermittent blue screen of death with the message DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. The issue seems to be occurring when I'm using Adobe Photoshop CC 2015. I have updated my BIOS and graphics card to the most recent version, but this doesn't seem to have remedied the issue.
When I open an image on my windows 10 PC it fails to open in the photos app and force closes the app and shows the message "file system error (-2145042388)". Some other apps like Adobe Reader touch, Mail & Calendar, Calculator and many more are also not opening. When I connect the PC to Internet it works and all apps open but with a delay.
My mail and calendar apps have just suddenly disappeared. I've tried the uninstall trick using powershell and reinstall but still missing the apps. I've also tried a sfc /scannow but no luck. The Microsoft Store reports the apps as installed.
Had an Update around Midnight last night and this Morning, I found Cortana has disappeared together with my reminders and no Microphone Symbol showing.
I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 in summer. Now the major one is: Windows 10 works fine in administrator account, but in the other user account I primarily use, most of the apps don't work (including store --Cortana and Edge are about the only ones that do. Clicking on the others does nothing, and the app store has disappeared from the task bar).
I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 this past week. All is well except for one thing. I received an update from Microsoft yesterday (Cumulative Update for Win 10 - KB3081424) and noted during the installation that no restore point was created. System Protection is ON and I am able to create restore points manually. Thus, this is only a minor annoyance since I can successfully create these points on my own. However, I would prefer for the system to do so when important updates from Microsoft come down. I guess it is possible that the update referenced above did not generate such a point but found that unusual since it is listed as a Cumulative Update.
I have read other threads on Win10 freezing after upgrades but they are very different than what I am experiencing. Just got the Surface Book this morning. It is the i7, 256 Gb hard drive, 8 Gb ram version. Without installing anything the system randomly freezes. Does it more often if using the stylus. The only way to recover is a hard reboot. I turned off BitLocker and reduced it from every few minutes to maybe 1x per hour. Looks completely random. I also changed to local login and appeared to reduce it more. Can actually use the stylus some now. I have downloaded all the updates. After reading all the problems with Win10 freezing I am wondering if it is an OS bug and not a hardware problem. It has me seriously considering taking this back to the store. I am going to try turning the blue tooth off and try it that way but without the stylus this laptop is not worth the 2400 to me.
New update for photos update available. Downloaded manually, went in ok first time. Working across all user accounts. Suggest for users with multiple user accounts to create a restore point first. If the update fails first time it can render the app broken for other user accounts based on past experience.
I noticed the photos app got an update in the last day or so. Whilst it works fine on my user account my wife and son's user account it refuses to launch. Just does nothing. Is there an easy way to fix without that risky powershell cmd making things worse?
When you choose photos and select 'open with' it gives a selection of apps. In the list I see the apps but one that looks odd is labelled %1 and has a generic app icon. It's almost as if it's some kind of old or broken program that doesn't exist. All the other programs like paint and photos are in the list as they should be but this is a rogue one.
I have PhotoShop which runs fine under win10 bty BUT I really like the little Photos app for quick editing however. It doesn't work all the time.
The app itself never fails to launch but with about half of the pictures that I try to edit give me the error that says "Can't edit" YOU CAN SEE A SCREEN CAP OF THIS EXACT ERROR.
Now, I have checked permissions of the files and even with photos with identical sets some will edit with no issues and the others get that same exact error message!
I have done everything I can think of including uninstalling the Photos app and then reinstalling it from the store. DID not change anything.
Yes, all of the jpg default programs are set to the Photos app (triple checked all those).
I am having a strange problem with Photos app on my windows 10. Let's say I click the Photos app icon, nothing happens, doesn't even through any error.
What I mean is when I use photo viewer (or any program it seems) to view pictures in a folder and I then press left or right to change the displayed picture, it changes it based on the name of the file. I want it to change based on the position of the file in the folder because I like to have my photos organized by creation date. As it is now when I try to use a photo viewer it jumps around the files in the folder and is highly annoying when I'm trying to view them by order of position.
