Apps :: Quicken 2016 Won't Open Unless Run As Administrator
Nov 27, 2015
I installed Quicken 2016 on my SP3, but it won't open unless I "run as Administrator." There is no error message when I try to open it regularly. I am the only user and am logged on as Administrator. Quicken 2015 worked just fine. I am running build 10586.14 version 1511. Quicken support seems to think it is a Windows 10 issue.

who has just installed Office 2016 on her computer, which was recently upgraded from Win7 to Win10.
She's been using Outlook.com and has accumulated a fair amount of email, contacts and calendar appointments. I've managed to get her email to show up by adding it to Outlook 2016 as a POP3 account. I was able to import her contacts into Outlook 2016 from a file called OutlookContacts.csv. Now I'm trying to get her calendar with all its many calendars and appointments into Outlook 2016.
I'm not sure why but the appointments all show up just fine in Mail and Calendar for Windows 10, even though we did nothing to put them there (as far as we know). But she'd like them to appear when she clicks on the Calendar in Outlook 2016 and I can't find any information on how to do that. I've also looked for some kind of Export function in the Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 app but I came up empty.
How do I get her calendar into Outlook 2016?
I can't be the only one who finds Microsoft *awful* at documenting this kind of basic functionality. Millions of people must have tried to do the same thing before me but if there's any information out there on how to do this, it has eluded me so far....

How can I change my default 'Calendar' app to use my Outlook 2016? So that when say "Hey Cortana", she can make appointments to my calendar managed by Outlook 2016?

I installed Office 2016 and a random file appeared directly on the C drive in no folder. The file is called, "WindowsMSUIGHUB.tt2". know what this file is and if it's just some temporary file I'm safe to remove? I don't really want this file here as it looks ugly but I don't want to remove if it it's required for anything.

So jump lists via my taskbar and windows 10, I'm not having much joy. I've just got a new desktop (Jan 2016) with windows 10 pre-loaded and I installed office 2010 - jump lists didn't work - so I thought I'll uninstall and install office 2016 64bit - jump lists still don't work....
But they work for IE and notepad and file explorer but not for firefox or photoshop elements. I've tried deleting the files from:
%APPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsRecentAutomaticDestinations
%APPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsRecentCustomDestinations
And rebooting but to no avail. I really need jump lists working for Excel & Word.

I am logged in to Windows 10 Pro as an Administrator. The operating system refuses to allow me to unzip an executable file to a folder on my C Drive failing because an Administrator account is required. It does not give me the option to provide my password to authorize the process. This problem surfaced when I did the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 late last year. I found search results info suggesting that an embedded manifest embedded in the file may be involved. I can't find a folder where I am allowed to unzip the file.

The 2 notable programs are League of Legends and Nexus Mod Manager. When I open Nexus Mod Manager, it says it doesn't have rights to the drive Skyrim is on. If I go to program files and run as admin, it works fine. League of Legends will also not run if I do not go to the program files and "run as administrator." I don't know what caused this, but nothing has changed on this PC since a week ago.

Run as administrator - Add to MSI File Context Menu - Windows 7 Forums
Is this still applicable for windows 10? I have not yet attempted to do this.
In my Downloads folder there are right click options to Install / Repair / Uninstall the LibreOffice installation file. I upgraded from windows 7 64 bit to windows 10 on my Lenovo G560 laptop.
I have looked at the Local Services setting for Windows Installer. The Manual option was off and I have started the service. There is no option (or I am unable) to switch to Automatic.
I have previously tried run the following commands from the cmd prompt as administrator.
C:WINDOWSsystem32>sfc /scannow
- no errors were found.
I then followed the instructions to unregister and re-register Windows installer :
On the "Start" menu, Type Run in the search bar and hit enter. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.On the "Start" menu, Type, Run in the search bar and hit enter. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.
The other command I tried from the cmd prompt as administrator for the file filename.msi
C:WINDOWSsystem32>msiexec.exe /i C:myfoldernamefilename
I got the following message.
"The installation package could not be opened. Verify that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I have downloaded the .msi file twice, and have downloaded from this site on many occasions without problems.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 in summer. Now the major one is: Windows 10 works fine in administrator account, but in the other user account I primarily use, most of the apps don't work (including store --Cortana and Edge are about the only ones that do. Clicking on the others does nothing, and the app store has disappeared from the task bar).

I downloaded Windows 10 when it was released and have had no problems with it ... until I updated my Microsoft Office to 2016. Ever since then, if I have Office open I get the BSoD, with it saying either Unexpected_Store_Exception, or Critical_Process_Died. I have no other virus software, so it's not the incompatibility with Defender. I have run all of my maintenance software, rebooted my computer, etc. I'm at a loss for what else to do.

When I pin Office 2016 to my taskbar, then click on it opens a new icon on the taskbar instead of using the one already there.
Also, not sure if this is related. But when I right click on this new icon and go to the "tasks" menu with the "New email message, new appointment, etc" links none of them work. Nothing happens when I click them.
Tried repairing and reinstalling 2016 with no luck.

Store (windows app store) and various apps do not open from the start menu. Store will also not open from search box. It just flashes on the screen, but does not open. Apps- such as 3D builder, Alarms and Clocks, One Note, Sports just indicate this app cannot be opened and go to store. All remedies to fix store listed in forums for windows 8 and such have been tried but have no effect. App trouble shooter for windows 10 is unavailable, but did run it and it just gave message that it is not applicable to this issue. That is reset, get apps, restore, and such. Seems all that is left is to reset computer?

I'm having the same issue that has been reported by other member's here in the forum. When I try and open the windows store on my taskbar, it pops on the screen for one second then goes away. Also, when I open my start menu it shows ( ! ) marks on several of my app's, when I go into the settings area under application's..I'm shown that many of my app's are disabled. I've tried a 'fix' that was suggested by going into the registry, but that didn't correct the issue. I've already had to re-install windows 10 pro. at least once. Now when I go into the settings area under recovery, it now longer offers me the choice to go back to my previous o.s. ( Windows 8.1 Pro. ), it just show go back to a previous 'build' instead.

I have some issues with the metro apps in Win 10. They don't open, and have unusual names. This actually started a couple days ago when my taskbar and start menu wouldn't open. While browsing the web, I saw exact same issue get told to enter a powershell command and he replied saying it fixed it. The command in particular was:
Code:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}
Long story short, It did anything but fix it, and gave it messed up names. I can click and click, but nothing shows up, even for a split second. I've tried to open an app from the .exe inside System32.

Looks like another annoyance (don't get me wrong, i'm not a 10 hater ) : when i do "open with" and select a portable app, nothing happens :/ Also if in the portable app i tick options such as "show context menu", this won't take effect. All that worked fine on 7.
I dunno for 8.1 but i guess it's same as 10? Anyways, is there a workaround? Can't live without that! Another thing : the great"types.exe" app that we all use(d) on 7 doesn't work here, is there an alternative or not yet? Perhaps it's just not possible at all to have such....

My HP Ultrabook was upgraded to Windows 10 in September. I am able to browse internet, send/receive email and use Microsoft Office programs. Computer is rarely used (2 or 3 times per month). Last weekend I noticed that the built-in calculator app would not open (calendar and others behaved similarly). Called both Microsoft and HP support. Both suggested that the installation (upgrade) had corrupted my user account. Several internet search results also indicated creating a new user profile (copying data files from old to new account) might resolve all issues. Created new account yesterday but nothing changed. HP suggested that I must wait for major update in December. It's difficult to believe that Microsoft hasn't resolved these problems between July and now.

My problem is that a number of my apps are greyed out, (14 at last count) and therefore return the "this app can't open" message. In trying to chase this down, I believe I've read that the problem is related to auto updates, and the lack of required licenses? I would probably rather revert to W7, but it's a number of months now since 10 was installed, so I believe that option is no longer available to me.
