Oct 6, 2015I just upgraded from Win 8 to Win 10 and just realised there isn't a keyboard shortcut for rotating the picture anti-clockwise?

View 5 RepliesI've just returned from Europe with over 2,500 pictures, many of them photos of paintings that I took vertically with my Leica X2. When beginning to edit them with Microsoft Picture Manager, I found when looking at thumbnails that the verticals were not displayed rotated. And when reviewing individual vertical photos and saving them rotated, they still displayed vertically when again looking at thumbnails.
I have been using Picture Manager for several years with Windows 7 and Office 2010 and the same camera -- and the verticals were always auto-rotated and stayed rotated after being saved.
Windows 10 auto rotates photos - now when I drag and drop photos to word 10, which way they will rotate - all portrait become landscape = as I use many tens of photos per report this is really annoying.
With win 7, I could just drag and drop straight into a word table portrait remained portrait, landscape remained landscape. Can I disable auto rotate? is there another work around as I like win 10
When I input something in the omnibox, clicked something, or on a new tab. This counterclockwise arc is acting very slow, but when I browse at a PC (Windows 7) it loads fast. Note: The PC (Windows 7) and my laptop (Windows 10) has same browser settings
In speedtest, I have 1 ms but when I browse Getting Started,
29 sec - Original | 15 sec - without prediction services | 13 sec - without hardware acceleration | 11 sec - without hardware acceleration and prediction services | 10 sec - removed hardware, prediction, prefetch, protect you and device, use web service | 9 sec - same as above, and removed all plugins | 8 sec - without GPU Acceleration and above

I have been using Bitdefender for many years, yet since the change it is no longer displayed. It is still in my list of installed programs. Do I need to disable the windows 10 anti virus option to get Bitdefender operating again?

When I click Rotate Left or Rotate Right nothing happens. I need to rotate many images before I upload them to Amazon.com, where they cannot be rotated. By the way, if I need to go into Windows Live or the Edit, where you use the paint brushes and such, (No longer have the original MS installation disc.)
How can I end memory hogging of System and Anti-malware Service Executable?
View 9 RepliesUnlike Windows 8.1, the screen on my Yoga 2 Pro doesn't rotate when I turn the device upside down to "tent" mode after installing Windows 10. When swiping right to show the Action Center, the Rotation Lock tile is disabled, as is this setting in the Control Panel.
View 9 RepliesFor 2 weeks I've been trying to upgrade my Asus G50VT laptop from Windows 7 home to WIndows 10 home. I have tried over 5 times using Windows Update and several times using the Microsoft USB/DVD installer. Everything downloads fine; and gets to the black screen with the "installing drivers" with a percentage going around in a circle. It gets stuck at 32% every time. I have to force shutdown the laptop and it rolls back to Windows 7...
There are no new BIOS updates available from Asus (laptop was released in 2009) the latest BIOS is already installed and from 2012. I don't see anything for windows 10 on the Asus Website.I have all external usb devices removed. I have tried shutting off my WiFi adapter and disabling / uninstalling Norton Security/Anti-Virus.I have sucessfully upgraded 2 other machines from windows 8.1 to 10 with no problem.
New update for photos update available. Downloaded manually, went in ok first time. Working across all user accounts. Suggest for users with multiple user accounts to create a restore point first. If the update fails first time it can render the app broken for other user accounts based on past experience.
View 1 RepliesI noticed the photos app got an update in the last day or so. Whilst it works fine on my user account my wife and son's user account it refuses to launch. Just does nothing. Is there an easy way to fix without that risky powershell cmd making things worse?
View 2 RepliesWhen you choose photos and select 'open with' it gives a selection of apps. In the list I see the apps but one that looks odd is labelled %1 and has a generic app icon. It's almost as if it's some kind of old or broken program that doesn't exist. All the other programs like paint and photos are in the list as they should be but this is a rogue one.
View 9 RepliesI have PhotoShop which runs fine under win10 bty BUT I really like the little Photos app for quick editing however. It doesn't work all the time.
The app itself never fails to launch but with about half of the pictures that I try to edit give me the error that says "Can't edit" YOU CAN SEE A SCREEN CAP OF THIS EXACT ERROR.
Now, I have checked permissions of the files and even with photos with identical sets some will edit with no issues and the others get that same exact error message!
I have done everything I can think of including uninstalling the Photos app and then reinstalling it from the store. DID not change anything.
Yes, all of the jpg default programs are set to the Photos app (triple checked all those).
I am having a strange problem with Photos app on my windows 10. Let's say I click the Photos app icon, nothing happens, doesn't even through any error.
View 1 RepliesWhat I mean is when I use photo viewer (or any program it seems) to view pictures in a folder and I then press left or right to change the displayed picture, it changes it based on the name of the file. I want it to change based on the position of the file in the folder because I like to have my photos organized by creation date. As it is now when I try to use a photo viewer it jumps around the files in the folder and is highly annoying when I'm trying to view them by order of position.
View 2 Repliesthe photos app keeps closing every time I try to open it.
View 4 RepliesI opened my picture library and double clicked to view photo, photo App opens and shuts immediately and then displays an error message. This happens with all photos/pictures I have tried to open!
How can I view my photos/pictures in Windows 10?
Just to clarify I sign in with a Local account, do I have to sign in with a Microsoft account to use the apps?
I have windows 10 running in Bootcamp ( MacOS. I upgraded to Windows 10 pro from Wind 8.1 Pro.
After upgrade I notice that Maps app and Photos app keep launching automatically , even after closing them. I'm not sure what is triggering them.
I have verified that these apps are not in autostart ( msconfig).
My photos from my iphone are being automatically uploaded to my start menu and appearing in the live tile that is available for my photo app in the start menu. I need to know how I can remove the photos and also how I can change my settings so that I can stop sharing my photos to my Win 10 PC. Is this something I need to do in icloud, itunes, or can I adjust the settings in the photo app itself?
View 2 RepliesThe new Photos app in Windows 10 (while allowing a variety of editing functions), does not allow me to add a caption, i.e., update the Title attribute of a JPEG file. The old Windows Photo Gallery in Windows 7 was very useful in this regard, since I could update a number of the metadata (EXIF) fields.
How can I do this in Windows 10? Has Microsoft just removed this feature? Seems a retrogade step.
My problem is with the Photos application that comes with Windows 10. When clicking on the slideshow button, the app plays through the pictures in the folder, though at some point through the slideshow (roughly 20-30 pictures in,) it loops right back to the picture where I started, even if there are other photos in the folder.
View 4 RepliesWhen I try to uninstall Windows 10 "Photos" App (which takes over to open all photos and makes difficult opening photos with another app) it will not uninstall. (The "Uninstall" button is disabled.)
View 3 RepliesWhen I go to photo library and click on a photo, I get the error message "element not found". Also noticed that the photo tile is not turned on and when I prompt to turn it on, nothing happens.
View 2 RepliesHow can I move photo's from photo gallery in Windows 7 to Photo's in Windows 10,
View 6 Replies1)open cmd as admin
2)Go to C:Users<Insert Username>AppDataLocalPackages and search name of your broken app (I will search Photos app)
3)Look at folder's name (Microsoft.Windows.Photos)
4)Now you know your app's id. Let's go back to cmd
5)Use this code
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WRITE APP'S ID HERE).InstallLocation + 'AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"
It will be like this
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos).InstallLocation + 'AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"
6)Press Enter and wait till the command finishes its work.
7)You don't have to reboot. Open your broken app and it will work now
Apparently it is my turn: Photos app no longer launches (clicking on the icon does nothing; no error report in Event Log). Trying to double-click image files associated with Photos results in "Invalid Value for Registry" message box. No explanation as to for what value is "invalid" and why it is "invalid".
It appears that the damage is user-account-specific, meaning that Photos typically continue to work fine under different (undamaged) user accounts. So, the only known solution appears to be to create a new user account and set it up from scratch.
Considering that setting up a new account requires quite an effort, this is not a real solution but more of a last resort "loser's way out" kind of measure. Hence the question: any additional information/research about this error? What specific "registry value" is responsible for this problem? I see quite a few reports about this error on the Net, but most of them seem to settle with creating a new account.
