I've got a clean install version of Windows 10 10240 on my machine. The store Icon recently changed from the all white minimal version to the one shown in the image attached. The background color changes with the theme. I've run the SFC /scannow command and found no errors. Additionally, I've cleared the Icon cache using the instructions at the link below.

I originally wanted to completely disable the UAC as the admin permission messages that popped for almost any/everything i wanted to do were very annoying. I dont remember exactly what i did, but it was something in gpedit or something similar to it. After i did that my windows store app stopped working, and appeared as a blank space in my task bar as it was still pinned there. As the store wasnt working, apps related to it like the calculator disappeared from my pc. They dont appear when i search for them, and links to DL ones from the store dont work either.
I tried the guide here Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10 - Windows 10 Forums and did step 2, but that managed to break powershell and make it disappear as well as disabling my task bar and start menu. I cant right click anything in my task bar, and can only use the start menu's right click menu.
The windows store app is missing from the taskbar and when I open "all apps" the box by "store" is blank. How do I load app for the store?
View 2 RepliesAbout a week ago the calculator started opening and then closing instantly so I tried re-registering the windows apps following a guide which used the powershell and running a command. This unfortunately seems to have made the situation worse and I now get @Microsoft.windowsapps.calculator appearing when I search for the calculator in start and the store displays a white icon and does not open. I have attached screenshots of what happens below:

I have the latest version of iTunes pinned to my taskbar and whenever I open iTunes, it creates a new icon next to it.
I have had this problem recently on Windows 7, however I fixed it by pinning the 'open' iTunes icon to the taskbar and unpinning the 'closed' one. I updated to Windows 10 and this was not an issue. HOWEVER, now I've purchased a new computer and the problem is persisting BUT this time on my new computer, it doesn't give me the option to pin the 'open' icon. So in other words, if I pin/unpin one of the open OR closed icons, the command will happen to both icons.
I've been running Windows 10 since last August, after upgrading from Win 8.1 on my Asus laptop.
I use the taskbar (launchbar?) to start my favourite programs, such as Excel, and some 8-10 files are stacked on the icon so I can right-click the icon and select/open my desired file.
That was until approximately 10 days ago, when clicking on a file name only opened Excel, and I have to do a file/open within Excel to get the file I want open. Other programs that are also on the bar e.g. my PDF program, still opens the file name I click on.
Is there anything I can do to make it install properly?
View 5 RepliesCurrently, my OneDrive icon is sitting in the 'hidden icons' section. I have seen pictures of the icon sitting on the taskbar next to Edge, the store, and all the other taskbar icons... how do you get that icon on the taskbar? I have tried all the normal ways I can think of (click and drag onto taskbar, going into taskbar settings, etc) but I can't get it to be removed from the hidden icons area.
View 2 RepliesI am having some trouble getting the default store apps to work. As for the store itself, it used to briefly show the splash then crash. Now it is just an unknown file type that doesn't do anything when clicked. I have tried some of the more common fixes, like the powershell re-register scripts, but none work, all returning errors of one kind or another. At this point, would it just be easier to "Reset this PC", or is there another fix I may not have tried?

View 3 RepliesI noticed the installation dates of about 12 programs and drivers have been changed to 24/12/15 in Control Panel / Programs & Features (see screen shot). I haven't made any changes and Reliability Monitor does not show any automatic updates. The programs still work.
View 3 RepliesWeird issue.... the Store tile and all modern apps originally looked nice with monochrome icons on my taskbar, but after restarting now they are showing as ugly tiles on my taskbar (i.e like it did in 8.1). Is there some sort of setting for this to put it back to the transparent icon on my taskbar?

About a week ago an icon for Recycle Bin appeared on my taskbar near the right side. (see the attached image.) Not a pin but a larger icon, just like the one residing on my desktop. In fact, it is identical, having the same right click menu. The only resolution suggested was to set up a new user account. But, as I like my setup and don't want to spend the time to recreate it in a new account, I've resolved to live with the icon.

View 3 RepliesI have a weird problem, I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO using the Media Creation Tool and now for some reason, the Get Windows 10 icon in the taskbar disappeared so I'm not able to get any alerts when it's ready to install.
View 3 RepliesOne of my pinned items on the taskbar (MusicBee) refuses to act properly. It always shows two instances of the icon when the program is open.
I tried unpinning the items, opening the program from it's folder and then right-click > Pin to taskbar but that creates a duplicate icon as well.

I have both desktop and laptop set up on 10. The desktop has "Search the web and Windows" on the task bar. It's not on the laptop. How do I get it.

This has become a minor issue with W10 since when I install an update to a program (reinstall a newer version) the "old" Icon in the Taskbar becomes unusable. That would not be a problem EXCEPT on two of my 6 W10 machines the install does not create a new Desktop Icon automatically!?
Also, is it possible to create a Desktop Icon from the All Apps list. I find the "Pin to Start" and "Pin to Taskbar" by right clicking on the program but the "Show Icon on Desktop" feature is not there or at least I can't find it?
I am using Windows 10 and have run into a situation. I navigate to Settings > System > Notifications & Actions. I am presented with a screen that has an option "Select which icons appear on the taskbar". I am presented with a list of programs and a switch that allows me to run on / off whether or not the icon displays on the taskbar. The issue (minor annoyance really) is I have choices for programs that a) I have removed or b) portable apps that did not need to be installed to run. I would like to remove these programs from this list as they are no longer present. I have attached a screenshot.

View 3 RepliesI updated my tablet from win 8.1 to win 10. I pinned the store app to my taskbar and is was there for a while, but then disappeared. When you point the mouse to where the icon should be, the app is there and will open, but you see no icon. This also happens for the netflix icon and the shazam icon. All other icons are okay. I honestly am not sure if this started before the upgrade, I think it did, but not positive. I have tried to unpin and repin them, but the same thing happens.
