I have windows 10 installed and I have also installed the finale 2014 demo.
I am getting an error on launch of the application. It seems to be the only application that cannot run.
The error is:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
It seems to be an error with the C++ runtime. I have installed them but I have been unsuccessful.
I'm trying to run an application called MySQL Workbench which has been working perfectly fine up until last week which now displays the error message below. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail and talking to the Microsoft support helpline I'm passed from department to department with no resolution.

I have no clue what went wrong, but it doesn't want to work. I will only take restoring to an earlier date as a last resort.

I'll just stick to one problem for now.I have a Synology NAS and connected a directory there as network drive. I have some programs there that won't work when run from this location.

WinMergeProtable Process shows up in Process Explorer but closes immediately.
Audacity Portable/WinDirStat Portable (and probably more programs using the PortableApps.com Launcher)

AIDA64 Program works but no icons appear.
There are more but I think those few suffice for now.
All of those programs work fine once I copy them to a local drive and run them from there. Windows 7 ran the very same programs from a network drive without any problems.
I won't even touch the fun stuff like how playing a video from my NAS causes downloads (to the NAS) to stop because of access errors.

View 2 RepliesI an trying to run Autoroute on an Asus machine with Win 10 and get a message saying "your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly". This occurs when the program in installed from its original discs or from a new works disc. I think it previously ran OK since upgrading to Win 10 but cannot be 100% certain.

When I try to access Settings, I get the following error:

I tried the command-line suggested and right after I hit enter, I get a flash of a window popping up on my screen and then it's gone. It's so quick I can't see what it's trying to open.
After pinning some user-installed applications to the Start Menu they looked fine. Today, all the icons that should be displayed in the buttons are gone. To determine what a given button does I have to hover over it, and the title appears in text. They still work to institute execution but are surely not the intuitive, user-friendly stuff we are suppose to applaud in W10.
Like my other problems of this nature, restart does nothing to correct the problem. And I cannot remove and reinstall the buttons since a right-click on them does absolutely nothing. All Windows provided buttons still have their icons, but right clicking on them does nothing either. I can drag-and-drop the icons around on the right side but cannot even resize them since a right-click is useless.
Make an APP start at boot no splash screen in systray, I don't mind editing my registry as i have done for many other reasons in the past...
View 4 RepliesI'm running the RTM on a netbook and have noticed that, unlike in Windows 7/8/8.1, I'm no longer able to hit Start and type in an executable. I have a bunch of portable apps that I typically type in and pull up. Now, the Start menu search pulls up ever OTHER file except the executable. It's very annoying and don't see why this shouldn't work.
What's worse, is if I pin the app to the start menu, it doesn't search it then. Say, I pin "puttyportable.exe" as a shortcut (and rename it to just PuTTY) to the start menu. Typing in "putty" gives me nothing - just the same associated files that were in the puttyportable folder (ini files, etc).
See description. Also unable to add gmail to the mail application. May be something with network settings but unable to find a solution.
View 19 RepliesI read a lot of stuff on the internet and it seemed the prevailing solution for this problem is to go into Settings/System/Default Apps and then set the default according to the file extension.
Been there, done that, at least 5 times. And it still opens with Edge and changes the default back to Edge. Microsoft doesn't want you controlling anything, do they?
How do I change this and make Adobe Reader the default, once and for all?
I can place a new folder or custom shortcut in the correct start menu location (current user or all users) but it will not appear in the All apps list. If I go to the folder or shortcut and right-click Pin to Start it will appear as a tile in the start menu, but still will not show up in the All apps list. I think this behavior started with Version 1511 since it was working for me in the previous version.

Apparently, the main way to do this is from within Windows 10, but that's obviously not an option.I have access to a Windows 7 computer. If I make a Startup Repair drive there, will it work on Windows 10?
If not, can I at least use it to boot my computer and run chkdsk and sfc?Is there some website where (using my other computer) I can download the image of the Windows 10 Startup Repair, or something like that?
I lost power throughout the night and my desktop keeps coming up with "your pc did not start correctly". Restarting it won't work either. When I troubleshot and do a "reset this pc" it keeps coming up with "there was a problem resetting your pc" no changes were made". Nothing is working for me.
View 3 RepliesWhere your start screen/menu just crashes or vanishes after a second or two. This only started happening for me now in build 10166, and the menu was behaving beautifully in the earlier build (10162). I am unable to access all apps or customize my tiles. Most of the time it makes is very difficult to actually clck or tap on any of the tiles either to run something.
I've tried to change the configuration between "menu" and "screen" to see if its restricted to one of them, but both of them vanish after a few seconds.
For some time, I have been using OneDrive on my 'phone (successfully, but limited to only a few files and photos).I've now tried to set it up on my Laptop, with a view to linking and uploading all my files - Documents, Pictures etc.However, in the setup 'wizard', I'm not presented with the option of linking any of the Folders on my Laptop - instead, I can only see the 2 existing folders that currently appear in my online OneDrive account (i.e. those which I originally set up from my 'phone).
View 9 RepliesI installed Windows 10 earlier but after about 10 minutes of using it my computer restarted itself automatically, and then it showed an error message saying that windows had "ran into a problem" on restart an it quotes the error code "0xc000007b".

When I try to open league of legends, i can't because this error (title) shows up. i upgraded from Windows 7, and i am opening league from the 760gb partition of the 1tb hdd i had w7 installed on. i have now w10 on the rest of it. when i googled for a solution, i was told that if i installed Windows c++ 2010/2012 redistributable, this would stop showing up, but the thing is that those aren't compatible with Windows 10, so i can´t install them. i also reinstalled directx 11.2 and c++2015. well, that's about it. Other games (world of warcraft, other steam games) are working ok.

I have 3 photo edit/print programs on board, all of which worked perfectly under windows 7. However, since upgrading (?) to 10 I now find that none of them work properly, various problems, particularly printed image size. For instance, I wanted to print a 6" x 4" photo at actual size, but could only get it to print to full A4. After much fiddling & cussing I thought I had managed to get it to behave, only to find that it would then only print out at 3" x 2"!!! Is the problem with the software or is it the printer/laptop setup? I use an Epson XP-700 printer.

I have tried to restore default fonts settings in "Control PanelAppearance and PersonalisationFontsFont settings" and I have also downloaded all the Windows 10 default fonts, right clicked, install and overwrite all files. Now I seem to have duplicate fonts with _0 and _1 at the end of some of the font names. I've also ran an sfc /scannow command but it didn't find any issue.
Lately OneDrive appears as one of the applications installed on my system; and the Windows Exprolorer lists it among the content of the system.
As shown there, it appears to contain a single file (or feature, maybe not a real file) with this name: .849C9593-D756-4E56-8D6E-42412F2A707B. Clicking on this just opens an empty Notebook and nothing else happens.
- How can I get rid of this application, as it seems quite useless, and I'm not aware of having installed it myself?
I cannot delete the file mentionned because a process keeps it open, a pop-up says.
I cannot uninstall OneDrive because that option is disabled on the list of applications.
- And what is this OneDrive application anyway? It doesn't seem to be the same thing as OneDrive, the storage space in the cloud, which I use regularly, and performs all right.
Due to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.
