It doesn't happen with any other Office apps.

Since I upgraded to Win 10 I get a UAC query every time I open Excel. How can I make it stop that behavior?
View 1 RepliesRecently I was getting confused and frustrate that files I were searching for weren't being included in the search results for my queries. It seems that the search parameters are restricted to "Exact word/phrase" and not "Contains.
Example: search "Broad", comes up fine
Search "road", nothing comes up.
In windows 7, I was able to search for a word and the search parameters would include files that "contains" the word in its name and even "contains" the word in a document.
In windows 10, it seems to be completely restricted to.
I just had window ten loaded by a computer guy this week and I just tried to open a document and was unable to open ANY documents. I noticed word is not on my computer anymore (it was on my old XP) Is it because all my documents are in word?

View 1 RepliesSince receiving a windows 10 update I have been unable to download excel and word documents sent in emails. Also all PDF files have been changed to Microsoft Edge ??
View 1 RepliesI can't open any photo files, it says they have the wrong file name. I had to update windows 10 because word stopped working ( I had already updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8, thinking it can't be worse than Windows 8 - but I was wrong about that.)
Word 13 stopped working a few days ago, and a computer techician tried to identify what was wrong. After checking various things he reinstalled Windows 10. Now I can't open any photo files, it says they have the wrong file name. I could always open the photos before. How can I view and edit my photos as I could before ?
Also is this problem with Word 13 continually jamming and stopping working also due to some windows 10 issue, or is it a virus ?
Since i have upgraded to Win 10 i can no longer save any documents i create with MS Word.I try to save and this error messages pops up every time, and now i cant save any projects i create.
View 9 RepliesAny way to eliminate the error messages below when my neighbor opens Word, Excel or Powerpoint.
Background: I upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. All went well and there were no problems. They had Office XP with Frontpage (yes that is old) loaded on Windows 7 and it worked fine. When you opened it there were no error messages after the upgrade was completed.
About a week later they wanted a clean install on the laptop because it had been awhile since they ever did that. I do a clean install, Windows 10 Activated successfully so now it was time to reload the applications.
After we loaded Office XP on the machine we started getting theses messages at the point it was loading. Eventually you would get to the application and it was fully functional.
I put the screen shots in the picture included in this post......
I'm running Windows 10 64-bit and noticed one day when opening my start menu to open up word that in the programs list (now called "all apps" for some reason) the launcher for Microsoft Office 2013 Word wasn't in the folder labeled "Microsoft Office" but rather, it was under the "W" section as its own program. I went into the file location, and all the applications are in a folder there, but for some reason in the start menu, it's not in the Microsoft Folder. This bugs me, and I can't find any way to edit the start menu's folders/programs etc. in Windows 10. Before I continue, I must say that I'm a little biased toward the older versions of Windows, and am rather dissatisfied with the way Microsoft is heading.
View 7 RepliesI've just updated to Windows 10 and found it impossible to print a document from Microsoft Word. When I press the "print" logo, or "Ctrl.P" I get a dialog box titled "Save Print Output as" with no facility to actually print. I've tried all the usual remedies... swearing, invoking the Almighty, banging my head on the table and threatening the computer with death...all to no avail.
There's probably something very simple that I've missed, but it still eludes me. Why do they mess about with something that has worked perfectly well up to now? All I want is to be able to print a doc. when I press "Print" ... is this too much to ask?
After installing Windows 10, I reopened some Word documents that have been an ongoing project for the past 8 years. They are long and complex documents including images, artwork and Chinese characters. I found that the formatting of these documents has been completely ruined! Everything has been moved around, some characters have been layered onto of one another and to top it off, the two fonts used for the entirety of the documents have been changed to another plainer font.
After checking the Word fonts, lots of them have disappeared, including the ones I use, and when I tried to import one of the old fonts in from a back up file, Word simply did not recognise it! Does Windows 10 automatically update to a newer version of Word when you install it? Is there any way to revert back to the way these documents were before the update? Manually reformatting them will take an estimated 1-2 years of work I tried looking at doing a system restore but there are no pre-saved restore points so haven't had any luck there, don't even know if it would work anyway..
Is there anyway to change the default 'Calibri' font that is set on opening Notepad or Wordpad?I would love to open Notepad to find the font set at something I like. 'Verdana' for example, so I can just get straight on.I know I sound lazy, but I use Note or Wordpad a lot, often dozens of times in a day, and I need to use a font I can see. I'm just sick of having to do this adjustment every bloody time!!
View 4 RepliesI'm getting two similar error messages when I try to open both Outlook and Word....
(Outlook / Word) could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable.
Outlook is not opening at all, and Word will open at the second or third "OK" click on the error message.
I've spent the last 24 hours editing the registry, for both programs based on advice found online, but nothing has worked.
I'm using the Office 2013 versions of both programs (version 15 Outlook). How the registry should look for both programs, as this is preventing em from working (I'm self employed and use both programs all the time).
I saw that there's a workaround using IE, but it's not on my computer (only Edge). This keeps crashing when I try to open it, and I can't seem to get a download of IE, as Microsoft assume I have it already.
I tried a system restore several times but for some reason it won't work - I was even so desperate to fix it. I tried resetting the OS, but this also failed.
Add this to the problems of saving files in Word caused by Windows 10, and I have to say that for me, it wasn't a good choice to upgrade.
So jump lists via my taskbar and windows 10, I'm not having much joy. I've just got a new desktop (Jan 2016) with windows 10 pre-loaded and I installed office 2010 - jump lists didn't work - so I thought I'll uninstall and install office 2016 64bit - jump lists still don't work....
But they work for IE and notepad and file explorer but not for firefox or photoshop elements. I've tried deleting the files from:
%APPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsRecentAutomaticDestinations
%APPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsRecentCustomDestinations
And rebooting but to no avail. I really need jump lists working for Excel & Word.
OK so I have Word 2013 installed and I want it to be the HTML editor in IE 11 [Version 11.0.10240.16431 loaded].
The Internet Options page for HTML editing on my PC only allows me to choose Notepad.
How do I add to the drop down menu WORD or is this desired configuration set elsewhere?
I am currently using Windows 10 Pro. My query is, when during the remote access session, why the background screen goes black?
View 1 RepliesMy laptop is working perfectly however my desktop is having the problems. When I go to where the date and time is and left-click on it nothing happens. If I right click it will give me the options to adjust date/time etc.. But what I want to fix is when I left-click there the time/calendar to open.

View 1 RepliesHow you change the font of the footnote numbering in a document? Whenever I insert footnote, I get the number (1, 2, 3 ...) in "Times New Romans." I am using "Arial" for my writing, but I want the font "Tahoma" for the numbers of the footnotes. Is there any way to modify the font?

View 9 RepliesA friend's Asus 8.1 laptop was stuck in an automatic repair loop so I suggested that he upgrade to Windows 10.
Because he was unable to access his system, I opted for a clean install and I created a bootable Win 10 usb on another pc. I used this usb to insall Win 10 on his machine, skipping any requests to activate.
I was under the impression that Win 10 would automatically activate on installation. I'm not sure he ever signed up for the free upgrade offer before Win 8 on his machine decided to implode.
Whenever I open a folder and position it on desktop whereI want it to be, after closing and reopening it again, it repositions. With a few opening-closings I realized that every time I open the folder anew, it gets repositioned a bit lower, diagonally. This wasn't happening on Windows 8.1. Is there any way to keep the folder in the same position every time I open it?
View 9 RepliesJust wondering looking at my partitions after upgrading to windows 10 . Do I need to keep the last too partitions? I love windows 10 and had presumed that after a clean install my old windows 8 and 8.1 would be removed are these last too files remainders from them and if so can i delete and how should i do so. Just took a snip of the partitions content!
