View 5 RepliesMy problem is that I set Media Player Classic for MP4, MPG, AVI, MKV and other formats and Windows Photo Viewer for JPG, PNG etc. The next day for some unknown reason I see these associated with Windows Video and Photo app instead! I right-slick on a MP4 files, select Open with->Choose Default app and set Windows Media Player Classic again for the millionth time. The next day I see the MP4 files associated with build-in Windows Video app!
I usually leave my computer running with the monitor switched off when in work (so I can access it via TeamViewer), rarely restart, if that matters. For other details see my specs.
how to show the preview of selected pictures in the bottom of explorer in windows 10 like as windows 7? URL... How i can show the selected picture preview on the bottom of explorer in windows 10 like as windows 7
View 1 RepliesI notice there's a new 1 pixel white border around Universal apps like Mail and OneNote. This makes it easier to see the edge of the window when it overlaps similarly colored areas. This seems to be new since the update yesterday.
View 1 RepliesLast few days have been very exciting, we have seen quite a few apps coming as Universal Windows 10 Apps but don't see why they r not making for Xbox One?
View 1 RepliesHow do i organize my "All Apps" Menu. Calculator, Contact, Mail, Cortana, etc ALL of this garbage bloatware is something i just want to create a folder called Microsoft Bloat and put it in there. How do i do this?
First time around, i uninstalled all of it using power shell but i ended up needing the store and one other app but W10 went retarded and didn't allow me to reinstall the packages, so this time around. I just want to organize them into a folder that i will never touch .
i don't feel like downgrading back to 8.1 which as it stands right now was better for me when using Start8.
Since I've upgraded to Windows 10, most of the time when my Surface Pro 3 goes to sleep or stand-by, most (if not all) of the universal apps (mail, edge, etc.) freeze. When I return from sleep, their windows are all completely unresponsive, except for the minimize and close button on the top right.
View 3 RepliesI'm encountering a number of random scrolling issues within Edge and other Universal/Modern/Store apps. When scrolling a web page, the page gets "stuck" and won't move within the browser window. Edge itself remains responsive - I can reload the page, or close its tab. And other tabs remain unaffected. Also, links on the page itself still work. I can actually interact with the portion of the page that's visible, just not scroll it in any direction. Reloading the page doesn't fix it, but if I close the tab and reopen it, then load the page again, it works (happened just this morning on "Dilbert.com" when viewing one of Scott Adams' blog entries).
I've noticed this behavior in at least one other app: Readiy (an RSS reader app). In the main "All Items" view, the list of articles will often become "stuck," much like a web page in Edge. I've also noticed the behavior occurs more often when using the touchpad in the Type Cover of my Surface.I'm running the Insider Preview build 10532 on a Surface 3 (not Pro) w/4GB RAM.
I have looked everywhere. I just upgraded from Windows 7. I use Explorer ++ but it has limitations.I have no use for a Preview Pane.
View 3 RepliesCan i use a new windows 8.1 pro key to activate my windows 10 pro preview?
View 1 RepliesI am running windows insider preview on my Acer iconia. On july 29 when Windows 10 is launched, can i upgrade it directly or do i have to restore windows 8.1 and then upgrade to windows 10
View 10 RepliesI registered for windows insider preview but I never installed the preview builds. My pc is now running with windows 10 installed. I'm just curious if my PC has the build for insiders. I'm a little bit worried about my PC sending telemetry data to Microsoft.
View 3 RepliesWhat i mean is when i move the mouse cursor over an app window in taskbar if it's a game in the passed i saw the game running/playing in the small window of the app or if it's a program. Now i need to click on it and enter to it to see what is going on with it.
Now the problem is only with battlefield bad company 2 when the game is running in the background instead clicking on it's icon to enter it and see what is going i want that when i move the mouse cursor over it it should show me in the small window the game. But instead i see only white small window.
Is there a way to mark them start menu items as used? I'm just a bit peeved at seeing "New!" tags on all of my apps after doing a system reset...
View 1 RepliesVarious applications are crashing at seemingly random times. The most common culprits are video games (in my case, GTAV and JustCause2), but various windows executables also crash.
The most common exception code which caused the crash is 0xc0000005. Other codes pop up from time to time as well, such as 0xc000000d, 0xc0000409, 0xc0000374, or 0x80000003.
The time between crashes varies wildly. Sometimes a game will crash 3 times on start up. Other times it will work for 4 hours straight. Sometimes the computer is working solidly, other times critical applications hang, forcing a restart with no log of the event. Some games never experience a crash, while others love to do so. For example, XCOM hasn't crashed once in the 30 hours I've played it, while JustCause2 crashed about ~10 times in 5 hours of gameplay.
I've attached all the application error events that have occurred since I switched over to Windows 10. (I switched over on Aug 9 in an unsuccessful attempt to fix this issue, so all the logs before then are currently hidden away in a backup. But don't worry, all the logs before then are more of the same.)
I have Postbox as an email application, and I would like to know if there's a way to have it register alerts in Windows 10's Notification Center? (Other applications I have installed will give alerts in the Notification Center, but I cannot figure out if there's a way to add Postbox).
View 4 RepliesI know it's not possible to move/install metro apps on sd card in win 8.1 but i want to know if it possible in win 10 insider preview. If yes, do i have to move them manually or can i assign the sd card as default install location.
View 2 RepliesIn Windows 7/8/8.1 I would press the Start/Windows button and start typing the name of a program (ie: Firefox, Word, etc) and it would pop up, learn, and as I did the same thing in the future.....I would just press Windows key, type wor, and Word would pop up and I press enter. Don't need to take my hands off the keyboard.
Windows 10 does not do that. I type Word and get Wordpad. I type Firefox and get 'Download Firefox - Free web browser', Secure (for SecureCRT) give me 'SecureCRT (file folder)', even though these apps are installed. Is there a way to put the apps in the search?
I know that this came up before, at least with Acrobat (I run Acrobat 11 Pro). However, Win 10 also reverts other chosen default app choices to the MS app that handles the file type. JPG graphics are an example. My custom settings stick, even with Acrobat, until I reboot or perhaps a while thereafter. I've correctly edited the default apps through the Default apps system settings.
View 1 RepliesBack when I got Windows 10 I started having this problem with iTunes that I didn't have before with 7. When I go to close iTunes it freezes and then this message pops up, "One or more applications are using the iTunes scripting interface. Are you sure you want to quit? If you do nothing, all applications that are using the scripting interface will be automatically disconnected in (20 second countdown)" My options are Quit and Don't Quit.
When I hit quit, or let the countdown run out, it closes iTunes and everything is fine... for about 20 seconds, because iTunes suddenly re-opens by itself. Are there some new Windows 10 apps that are talking to iTunes even when it's off and they make it open again? This is really annoying because iTunes is always connecting to the iTunes store and causing lag spikes while I'm gaming. If
Here are pictures of all of the software I have installed.
I switched my microsoft account to a local account and now my laptop cannot start applications I have installed, such as Chrome and WoW. I tried switching back to a microsoft account and this did not resolve the problem.
I can see the installed programs in Programs & Features, but they cannot be uninstalled.
The shortcuts that were created for these programs say they cannot find the file location.
While I could just go ahead and reinstalled, this will be a problem for ones like Wow, and its a brand new laptop which I intended to keep as organized as I could :P not a great start.
Many users of new "windows 10 Technical Preview for Phones" are unable to turn off mobile data..... So here is the simple solution:
1] go to setting>Extras>access point
2] create a new access point ( insert anything in fields
3] Set it as active
whenever you want to turn on data go to access point n choose working (default) access point ...
I installed the technical preview on my Surface Pro (gen 1), It's great and all. Gets smoother with each update, however, I'd like to revert back to 8.1 pro so I can reserve my copy of Windows 10.
I don't exactly know if the tech preview will auto-update to the full OS when Win10 releases July29 and I've tried to search for an answer to that question and the answers I find refer to Microsoft releasing "ISOs" when the full OS comes out and I don't know how to do those things so that's why I want to revert back and reserve.
This is my first time trying out OS preview builds. I made a USB recovery drive before I installed it though. I tried using it to refresh my SurfacePro back to windows 8.1 using my USB recovery drive, but the only option I get when it comes to choosing a target operating system to refresh is just windows 10.
I just upgraded my Windows 7 installation to Windows 10 using the Windows free upgrade. The upgrade completed successfully and I am able to boot into Windows 10.
I am not able to open any applications pinned to the taskbar. Even the windows menu is not launching! Hence I am stuck with only limited set of applications which have shortcuts on the desktop.
I upgraded from windows 8 to 10 now my window applications will not start. It only has a blank screen. I can only use the task master but can not uninstall especially the security features. I am very unhappy with this product and I do not want it.
View 2 RepliesWhen I lock windows (win + L) and relog back on any application I had running when I locked the account will be muted (browsers aren't affected). The application doesn't appear in windows volume mixer and the only way ive found to get my sound back is to restart the application.
For example, I`m playing fallout 4 I need to leave my computer so I lock it (for a variety of reasons) then I return a minute later and my sound is gone. The only way to get it back is to restart the game. This is pretty annoying for me because I have to somewhat frequently lock my windows while I`m doing things.
