I've got 6 different app updates that seem to be stuck in the pending/downloading step in the app store. These are mostly updates to MS apps like Mail/Calendar, Solitaire, Camera, OneNote and Get Office plus a major update to VLC.
There's no error messages, just no progress downloading after several hours. This has probably been an issue for days now considering when these updates were officially announced.
My store is playing up on the latest release. I have four pending updates, none of which will download, one of them is store itself, another is word mobile which is now not working and wont uninstall either. Any time I try to pause or cancel any of the downloads the app simply freezes and I have to close it and the same cycle repeats.
View 4 RepliesSo today, as it is all over Windowscentral, some of the MS core apps and VLC for Windows 10 got their updates. However, they are stuck at 0% and showing no signs of progress. I've tried cancelling them all, rebooting and download on at a time but it was no use.

The screen shots show what I've been looking at for two days now. Obviously something is amiss with Automatic Update but I dunno what, or what to do about it.
When i'm going to "Downloads" of the Store of Windows 10. All Updates are in progress. But nothing will be downloaded or anything else.
Also my Mail app won't even start anymore. It stucks on the blue screen bootup and never go further.
This is on my Surface Pro 3.
I've been having trouble with Windows Update recently:
* Three updates were stuck on downloading at 0%
* Rebooting the laptop resulted in it getting stuck at the "Getting things ready..." screen
The fix was actually pretty simple:
1. Reboot your computer
2. Open Explorer and navigate to C:WindowsSoftware Distribution
3. Open an elevated command prompt (Admin)
4. Run these two commands:
-net stop wuauserv
-net stop bits
5. Select all files in abovementioned folder and delete them
6. Make sure to empty the trash afterwards
7. Reboot and run Windows Update again
That way I was able to fix my Windows Update process that has been stuck for more than a week now. It immediately found many more updates to install, downloaded them and installed them just fine.
Windows Update has been stuck at 0% every time I've tried in the last couple of days (see screenshot). These are the two updates available:
Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3103688).
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3105213).

I have a problem with a Windows 10 store on my desktop PC. This is not a phone.
I have the latest build 10240 with all of the updates installed. The last few updates installed over last night and then my Store app stopped working.
I searched reddit and found some similar problem: [URL] ....
The thing was that when I tried to open the Store app this morning I've got a message: Before you can shop, we need to update the Store. I then pressed Update button and then It tries to update the Store app.
But then it just says Pending and it doesn't do anything for the whole day now. I think there must be some other applications waiting for an update and they all got stuck. How to open the store?
Running fresh install of Windows 10 with today's 1GB patch released this morning. So I go to the store and I am getting the same error message with anything I try to download...
Tried the past workarounds that were posted on the forums and I am getting no results.

View 4 RepliesI'm not sure if it's a Surface 3 specific issues and the S3 has been one problem after another on Win 10 but my store downloads and Windows Update downloads just seem to get stuck and never complete. WU never gets off of "Waiting for download".
Every so a store update may start to download. It can take a good 4 to 8 hours, if at all, for all the updates to process. If a download does start it seems to run normally.
Checking my task manager shows the CPU and network are mostly sitting idle.
I've cleared out the SofrwareDistribution folder but it hasn't worked.
How do auto updates work in the store? I noticed when I went into it there were some updates showing for things like calculator and one note. The progress bar indicated they were fully downloaded but they didn't seem to be disappearing from the list or installing themselves. Is this normal behaviour? It's not an issue as I clicked the download arrow and this seemed to manually prompt their installation immediately. They all worked fine.
i guess what I am asking is would they of installed eventually on their own? I only had the computer on for about twenty minutes or so. It didn't have loads of time to do its thing perhaps. Maybe they download and install themselves after a certain period of idle time? Or on shutdown? How often does the store to app update checks - are they pushed or is there something like once in every 24 hours in place? do recall spotting this once before with some of the MS core apps.
1. Win S launches Cortana.
2. A desktop shortcut to Cortana works.
3. The start menu Cortana shortcut launches Store (it was working at some point..)
Win 10 is now running... well, actually quite smoothly- as far as I know, this is the only oddity (until I turn over another stone..)
I normally use Classic shell, and don't use Cortana. However, having found changing settings has disrupted Cortana, I sometimes check- I feel I've seen a comment about this somewhere.
I tried this:

I don't know to replace the shortcut in the Win 10 start menu, given I have one on the desktop..
Previously on W7 & W8 the updates categorized into 2 column (Important & Optional) where we can select the updates individually and download/install. This way I can get some optional drivers for memory card, printers & etc.
I couldn't find this option in W10. I choose to ignore it but my antivirus keep notifying me that optional downloads are available. I did click the "Run System Updates" but it navigates to System > Update & Security > Message and shows "System is up to date".
Sometimes it only updates the critical updates. The rest (Recommended & Optional) ignored/not notified on windows updates.
I installed my Windows 10 and everything was going smoothly. It has installed 2 updates from the day I've installed it and everything was ok. Recently updates KB3081448 and KB3081449 came out but it doesn't want to download them. Instead it gives me error 0x800703f1. My drivers are up to date and my PC is clean from viruses. I also tried installing them manually. It failed after step 2 of the installation...

No updates are installed yet, none. I have tried going through a long process of deleting SowftwareDistribution folder and I have used windows updatediagnostics. Nothing works. I've discovered that the Win 10 November update is listed but is completely stuck at "downloading update" and never gets any further.
I've run "Troubleshooter" which found a couple of problems and fixed them but still no November update and i also see that the latest February update has "failed" as well.
Everything i try doesn't start the updates so i'm at a complete loss at what else to do.
I have upgraded my laptop to win10 from win7. While I'm trying to download apps from store, they show downloading and finishes after downloading half of app size only. Facebook app downloaded only 14mb outta 54mb and working well. AOE castle siege downloading some and closes and app not opening. What should I do!

View 5 RepliesI am trying to install the .net 3.5 update for my Windows 10 Pro rig. I tried the usual way (enabling) with no luck: the system sits on searching for file and never goes anywhere. (I let it search overnight with no luck). I tried the method suggested HERE with no luck either (it sits there telling me the image version but never starts the "Enabling Features" process. I've let it sit there for 30 minutes with no success.
I am trying to do the second step via a Windows 10 USB install, not a DVD. I didn't bother trying to create an ISO since I didn't think that would matter. In either case, I feel really stuck. I am unable to run a few legacy games because of this stupid .net 3.5 issue. It's really frustrating.
In Windows 10 build 10130, how do I prevent the automatic downloading of its updates?
