Apps :: Why Won't MS Picture Manager Auto-rotate Photos

I've just returned from Europe with over 2,500 pictures, many of them photos of paintings that I took vertically with my Leica X2. When beginning to edit them with Microsoft Picture Manager, I found when looking at thumbnails that the verticals were not displayed rotated. And when reviewing individual vertical photos and saving them rotated, they still displayed vertically when again looking at thumbnails.
I have been using Picture Manager for several years with Windows 7 and Office 2010 and the same camera -- and the verticals were always auto-rotated and stayed rotated after being saved.

Windows 10 auto rotates photos - now when I drag and drop photos to word 10, which way they will rotate - all portrait become landscape = as I use many tens of photos per report this is really annoying.
With win 7, I could just drag and drop straight into a word table portrait remained portrait, landscape remained landscape. Can I disable auto rotate? is there another work around as I like win 10

Since the W10 upgrade i cant save to any Photos, Document or sub folders of the like. I get the error in the photo. Its the same error I get from any sub folder as If its trying to save to a different user. I tried was under properties of each folder ticking the read only box at the bottom and that didnt work.

Windows Phone You can automatically upload photos to One Drive... So basically when I take a picture on my phone, I see It on my surface. But how does it work the other way around?
How do I see pictures that I take with my surface, on my phone through the photos app/one drive? I don't seem to see anyway to have pictures automatically save to one drive or to be auto upload to one drive on Windows 10.
Also, What determines what albums are shown under "albums" on windows 10m? I have a lot of picture albums stored on one drive but the only two folders that show up are camera roll and saved pictures.
If I scroll to the "folders" section of the app, I can navigate through photos app to the folder I want... But this is annoying.. the album should just show up under albums. How do I get that?

I am having problems changing my profile picture, I have looked around the internet and tried everything I could, When i try to change it I get an error saying "Setting the account picture failed. Please try again." I also cant see it on the lock screen everytime i reboot it.

As a keen flickr member I have a lot of photographs on my computer. These are all neatly allocated to different files, depending upon a variety of variables. So far....all is well.
Yesterday my neighbour kindly upgraded me to Windows 10. Everything seemed fine.
Today I tried to take 4 photographs off my camera and load them up to my computer. Initially I got a dialogue box asking me what I would like to do in future when I plugged in my camera - I said "upload the pix to my computer".
Previously they have always arrived on my desktop in a separate file. I would then edit them, afterwards splitting them up into different files, depending on what I want to do with them.
Anyway, this morning, after taken 4 photographs, I plugged in my camera. I then get a message saying "We found 880 photos. Would you like to import them into your picture folder". And the only alternatives given were IMPORT or CANCEL.
I do NOT want all my pix jumbled together in a picture folder. I want them all neatly organized into the folders I have set up.
Is there any way I can get rid of this 'Picture folder' and go back to using my existing folders (they are all still there, and all still containing the photographs they should rightfully contain.)

When I plug in an SD card from my camera I get a window titled COLLECTION, with a pop-up saying "Is this the right device? We couldn't find anything to import on this device."
I can of course browse to the SD card, but I quite liked the import feature.
[Later] If I change the AutoPlay default to use Windows Live Photo Gallery rather than Pictures, it seems to work, but I don't really like WLPG.

When I click Rotate Left or Rotate Right nothing happens. I need to rotate many images before I upload them to Amazon.com, where they cannot be rotated. By the way, if I need to go into Windows Live or the Edit, where you use the paint brushes and such, (No longer have the original MS installation disc.)

When I plugged my Samsung camera into my PC with W7, it downloaded into a picture folder. Now I've gone to W10, I can't find out how to do this. I can't remember how I did it before as it was a long time ago.

Unlike Windows 8.1, the screen on my Yoga 2 Pro doesn't rotate when I turn the device upside down to "tent" mode after installing Windows 10. When swiping right to show the Action Center, the Rotation Lock tile is disabled, as is this setting in the Control Panel.

How do auto updates work in the store? I noticed when I went into it there were some updates showing for things like calculator and one note. The progress bar indicated they were fully downloaded but they didn't seem to be disappearing from the list or installing themselves. Is this normal behaviour? It's not an issue as I clicked the download arrow and this seemed to manually prompt their installation immediately. They all worked fine.
i guess what I am asking is would they of installed eventually on their own? I only had the computer on for about twenty minutes or so. It didn't have loads of time to do its thing perhaps. Maybe they download and install themselves after a certain period of idle time? Or on shutdown? How often does the store to app update checks - are they pushed or is there something like once in every 24 hours in place? do recall spotting this once before with some of the MS core apps.

When I right click start window and then click Task Manager I receive the following response:
"C:Users...AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsWinXGroup25 - Task Manager.lnk
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
I haven't been able to locate the program and am not sure where to find the correct program. I've searched the net but there's no mention of Windows 10.

I have opened the builtin admn by changing the cmd to sethc so whenever i press shift 5 times at login it opens the cmd for me to type the net user admin /active:yes command but my question is i open taskmgr with the cmd I mentioned before I run programs from "run new task" command the programs opens but close automatically after a few minutes. How to make it not closing itself?

Previously, I used Task Scheduler, but it does not seem to work. I suspect UAC is making this hard for me. I have it set to default.

One of the casualties of my upgrade to Win 10 Home was my iTunes library. Basically, iTunes could no longer find my music, even though it hadn't moved. To cut a long story short, I ended up creating a new library and all was well - or so I thought. Since then, however, every time I boot my PC, iTunes loads at startup, and the curious thing is that there is no reference to the programme in any of the startup folders, nor in Task Managers Start Up list. I also use CCleaner, and that also shows that nothing apple related should be running at startup.
Clearly something is causing iTunes to run? I should add, there are no iPods connected to the PC, and iTunes helper is also disabled via CCleaner.

I just did an upgrade from Win 7 Home Premium to Win 10 Home. After few minutes when the system is idle, I get the PROJECT SCREEN options Panel open up by itself. To close it I have to click on the desktop for it to disappear.

i am using 9926 and internet download manager is not downloading anything. it grabs the links but no process of downloading :/ i allowed from Wİndows Firewall . It doesn't matter the site or the size. That photo is just an example. I don't use vpn or any other connection-wise programs.

I just had to create a whole new user profile so I could install a program so I could use it. In my regular profile I could not find a way to get this program to run. It would be running in the task manager but not open on my desk top. Weird. A remote support person from the software company could not figure out why. He suggested I create a new user account and install it again. I did and it worked. However, I'm not logged into the user account where I have all my files.

New update for photos update available. Downloaded manually, went in ok first time. Working across all user accounts. Suggest for users with multiple user accounts to create a restore point first. If the update fails first time it can render the app broken for other user accounts based on past experience.

I noticed the photos app got an update in the last day or so. Whilst it works fine on my user account my wife and son's user account it refuses to launch. Just does nothing. Is there an easy way to fix without that risky powershell cmd making things worse?
