I have recently updated windows 10 and find that some apps have stopped working, for instance Facebook and ITV Player/Hub. I am annoyed with this, especially with Facebook, as I am unable to log in with my original account, as it rejects every password I have tried.
View 1 RepliesI checked on the stability report last night, and I found out that the "Get Office" app has been having issues every single day.
The computer does not crash, and there was no error message. Without examining the stability report, one would never know there's anything wrong.
I uninstalled the app, and everything seems to be fine now. I sign onto Windows locally, without using my Outlook account.
I Tried to connect to my 2 other PCs this morning. I just get a screen where it says it's 'Initialising Display parameters' but will not get past this screen.
Was working perfectly yesterday! I can take control of these same computers if I try it from my Linux Ubunto PC. So that rules out the network and all of the other PCs which are still on win7
my most used App the Windows Weather app has stopped working, I click on it to open and it open and then closes again right away. Is there anyway I can fix this? Is it a common Win 10 app system fault with the app or is my PC specific that has the problem?

Even after i use the office disc to to a install repair; it works for a short time; then the problem starts all over again. It says microsoft outlook has stopped working. This is with office 2010 by the way.

I restarted my computer and since then, the start menu, notifications and all apps like the xbox app and store app no longer work. I did Recovery hoping it would fix everything but didn't. What the heck is going on and how do I fix it? I've got apps that don't appear on my desktop which I am completely unable to use now.
For what it's worth, I can right-click the Start button since my latest reboot but I can't left-click it. (On the previous reboot, I couldn't right- or left-click it.)

The HP Solutions Center stopped working after Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3132372) was installed Apparently this update controls how flash player is used. HP Solutions Center uses flash player and will not start. I use the HP program frequently to scan documents and photos. Is there a work around for this, or do I have to uninstall this update?

The blackness remains, even when I pan and zoom, but the road/normal layer works fine. I have the most current & up to date OS, Win 10 Home, 10586.36 & new Dell laptop.
View 1 RepliesYesterday, I downloaded Windows Update MiniTool. It's a portable program where the 7Zip file contains a 32-bit EXE, a 64-bit EXE and an INI file which is apparently some sort of language file. About an hour after I unpacked it, the 64-bit EXE's icon disappeared. I deleted the folder and the shortcut I created, and when I unpacked it again, I left the 32-bit file alone. Eventually, I downloaded that batch file for rebuilding the icon cache, and I thought that that fixed it, but this morning, I discovered that the fix was only temporary. Apparently, there's some other issue causing the icon cache corruption.I also have IrfanView, which is portable, and I've downloaded several legacy games where I created EXE launchers with Bat To Exe Converter, including icons I made with Greenfish Icon Editor. I've never had any trouble with any of those icons. I extracted the 32-bit file, just to see what happens.
View 4 RepliesI have had to remove and add my user account five times in the past because of some random failure of Windows Store or other apps like Photos and Mail. By failure I mean those apps don't launch at all - not from the start menu, or desktop shortcut or app list. Now that time has come again because the mail app won't launch.
I have tried all possible solutions I could find online. I've tried wsreset, powershell commands, nothing has worked for me. On the system where it's happened now, my system has 4 online accounts and one local account which is the only admin account. There are not many third party apps installed except for some like ESET antivirus, WinRAR and PowerISO.
Where your start screen/menu just crashes or vanishes after a second or two. This only started happening for me now in build 10166, and the menu was behaving beautifully in the earlier build (10162). I am unable to access all apps or customize my tiles. Most of the time it makes is very difficult to actually clck or tap on any of the tiles either to run something.
I've tried to change the configuration between "menu" and "screen" to see if its restricted to one of them, but both of them vanish after a few seconds.
I originally wanted to completely disable the UAC as the admin permission messages that popped for almost any/everything i wanted to do were very annoying. I dont remember exactly what i did, but it was something in gpedit or something similar to it. After i did that my windows store app stopped working, and appeared as a blank space in my task bar as it was still pinned there. As the store wasnt working, apps related to it like the calculator disappeared from my pc. They dont appear when i search for them, and links to DL ones from the store dont work either.
I tried the guide here Apps - Reinstall and Re-register in Windows 8 and 10 - Windows 10 Forums and did step 2, but that managed to break powershell and make it disappear as well as disabling my task bar and start menu. I cant right click anything in my task bar, and can only use the start menu's right click menu.
A bit of background info: I have installed Windows 10 about 5 times.
The first 4 it would only work until the first reboot because during the setup phase it would automatically install a faulty driver and on the first available restart my Windows would break and I would have to reinstall to get the laptop working again. However all metro apps worked fine before the first reboot.
The 5th time I switched my internet off and window 10 setup finished without internet. That means the faulty driver didn't automatically get installed so I had a chance to switch off the automatic driver installation. However it also meant Windows 10 didn't get activated during the setup phase. I switched internet on, activated Windows 10. Now my computer works fine but all Metro apps are greyed out and not working. For some of them the application crashes and others give me the error "This app can't open". I tried all obvious solutions
sfc /scannow and the DISM commandReinstalling them using: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"}Reinstalling them using PowershellStarting the Application Identity and App Readiness Services and a couple of other random suggestions I saw online. I recently installed Windows 10 Home using the iso. It was fine but after sometime, the start and metro apps had stopped working. I thought that re-install would do the trick. So I reformatted C: and installed Windows 10 again hoping it wouldn't come again. But now after two weeks... the exact same thing happened. Start, Action Center, Settings, Search... not working. Tried the powershell command, didn't work. Also I cannot create a new user because the settings app crashes... Start wouldn't come up at all. Metro Apps like Calculator, Store and all, they just simply crash after showing the splash screen for a second. I can't do another reformat...
View 2 RepliesI've been unsuccessfully trying to download some Apps from the App Store and while the progress bar says it is 'Working' nothing happens.
I also get a screen prompt, asking me to log on to my Hotmail account, which I don't really want to do, as I have Yahoo email.
So is it a requirement to log on to your Hotmail account, in order to download these Apps?
I have set Windows Media Player as the default player for .mp3but have a problem that although WMP is on the start menu when I double clickon it or its shortcut it will just flicker and not load.I have tried different ways to play the .mp3 files by rightclicking on a file and open it but get an error message as shown below.How can I get WMP to load as it seems to be corrupted?
View 6 RepliesSystem restore fixed my problems,and now I am back to a almost fully functioning O.S,except the windows store is not able to download anything, I will probably not try to fix it on my own, the error code was and is the same(0x80070005)
I think the problem is related to the registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMain being locked,I cant use regedit to change permissions(with admin too),regdelnull did not find the key so its not with embedded-null characters.
This key is preventing me from installing Skype and fixing Microsoft office,and some windows updates are failing because of it,saying I have no permissions.Well after lots of permission tikering I have managed to gain ownership of the registry and now office is able to install which means it works,sadly windows store is STILL not working... means that it is something else...
my first two installs failed,and this one was working,I managed to get all of my old personal files and it was fine and dandy,until I noticed that the windows store was not working.I spent 3 hours fixing it and it started opening, great!, but... I noticed it couldn't download anything ,and by trying to spam commands into cmd to fix the store,. I went into safe mode,did a system restore,booted up win 10 - blue-screened. (I have the logs,dmp files). Went into built in troubleshooter and did everything,and then... from the troubleshooter did system restore,from the same point AGAIN!
Now I booted up windows,desktop starts slower and usually requires me to run explorer.exe manually ,I was happy that it had finally seemed ok,until I found out that every single tile app was not working... Only mail,calendar and groove music works...How don't they work?Well the store closes in 1 second,the other apps say they can't open and redirect me to seek info in the store,oh and the tiles are grey.

View 2 Replieshave a problem with usb drivers according to my control panel which says it is fixing the issue and then tells me to reboot but it is not fixed. Keyboard lights up on start but when the first blue window appears it goes off. I can get into the bios ok and the keyboard works there. only one port is working (USB3). as my mouse and keyboard are usb and there is no PS2 port i am kinda cactus at the moment. Been searching for usb drivers for win 10 but not having any luck. Everything was working fine since November until yesterday.

A couple of days ago my system received a Windows 10 update that took about 2 hours and looked like it was installing Windows all over again (but it wasn't) and once this happened I couldn't find the Microsoft Edge application and the start button would not work at all. After doing a system restore to a date prior to the update things are back to "normal" except for this one problem.Currently my start menu does not show any Recently Used or Favorite Apps in it as shown below.If I select the All apps button it also shows nothing:
I made sure that all of the settings in order to see recently used apps and all my apps are correct as below are my settings:I have tried a couple of solutions that handled Cortana not searching for programs or "some" apps were missing from all apps but I have yet to find a solution to when absolutely no apps are showing in the start menu. I know the applications still exist on my machine as I use Firefox and Microsoft Word and Outlook plus many more apps but they aren't showing up at all. I am also under a local account instead of my Microsoft account and both have this problem.
How do i organize my "All Apps" Menu. Calculator, Contact, Mail, Cortana, etc ALL of this garbage bloatware is something i just want to create a folder called Microsoft Bloat and put it in there. How do i do this?
First time around, i uninstalled all of it using power shell but i ended up needing the store and one other app but W10 went retarded and didn't allow me to reinstall the packages, so this time around. I just want to organize them into a folder that i will never touch .
i don't feel like downgrading back to 8.1 which as it stands right now was better for me when using Start8.
Random apps are not showing up in the "All Apps" section of the Start Menu after installing a clean version of Windows 10 (not an upgrade), and re-installing all my favorite software, In other words, finding a launcher to countless programs now means visiting "C:/Program Files/WhateverRandomSoftware/launcher.exe." Well, that;'s no fun.
