I'm working in Windows Movie Maker 6.1. I want to lengthen the time of fade in to white and fade out to white. I'm going into Tools > Options > Advanced and increasing the time in Transition Duration to 5 seconds, but it seems to have no effect on new projects. Did I miss a setting? Do I have this wrong--Is "transition duration" different from any effects settings?

View 1 RepliesI have a 2TB WD internal HDD that are currently fade out when I view with My Computer. I checked with disk management and the device is "No Media". Whats wrong with the HDD?I tried CMD and I want to check disk but it says that "Cannot Open Volume for direct access".Also, for this 2TB HDD, I didn't use Sata Connector to run, I always use a HDD dock (via USB) to access the HDD to backup my data into this HDD. I connect the USB to my PC and then the power adapter for the dock to function.I not sure is the drive failing or just cannot be detected. I just hope that the HDD is not damaged or unable to recover the data.

I am running windows 10 Home on HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab040sa
In my windows 10 start menu all my installed programs give a white paper (with curled right corner) icon. There are a few that give the original icon but most of them do not. I tried a new clean install but that didn't work.
I also tried:
-SFC scannow gedaan met deze opdracht: sfc /scannow
(heeft niets opgelost)
-DISM gedaan met deze opdracht: dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
-Delete imoage cach
-Rebuild image cach
-Used another account
-In the start menu folders the icons are as they should be
I even installed classic shell for a while and the the icons are normal! So I think there is something wrong with my start menu. I tried everything I could think of but nothings works. It's annoying to see the wrong icons although when I click them de app opens normally.
What can I do to get the normal icons back?
I'm running Windows 10 and use Google Chrome browser. I have a McAfee security and I have just deactivated the firewall to see if this would resolve the problem.
My Facebook page is unresponsive and blank white. The red icin at the globe suggest I have 4 interaction, and 1 message, I click on this and nothing happens. I've turned off the system, reboot.... still no response.
Whenever I use my surface after charging all night I get white screens from apps that are minimized and edge doesn't respond. Ive actually got to close out all those windows and start over. SP3 ... Windows 10 ...
View 1 RepliesAbout a week ago the calculator started opening and then closing instantly so I tried re-registering the windows apps following a guide which used the powershell and running a command. This unfortunately seems to have made the situation worse and I now get @Microsoft.windowsapps.calculator appearing when I search for the calculator in start and the store displays a white icon and does not open. I have attached screenshots of what happens below:

I want to click on my shortcut and fire up Ninja Trader without having to click run as Administrator, which I am, and without clicking yes to the UAC pop up window.
How can I change a shortcut permission to open without jumping through all these hoops?
Even though it says I'm the Admin, do I need to go to the Elevated Admin to do simple things like saving a Power & Save setting, which I can't do currently?
I've used desktop gadgets forever to display a clock, a calendar and weather for several cities. I know that gadgets are gone, so I'm looking for a replacement that meets my needs. I'm not optimistic, but perhaps there are solutions I've missed so far.... I need them to appear when Windows startup I want them to be small (not taking up too much of the screen) For weather, I need to be able to have multiple cities open at the same time and not getting in each other's way

This seems simple, but I can't find any way to get it right. Cortana can't seem to tell me the right time.
I live in Ypsilanti, MI. Somehow Cortana thinks I live in Ypsilanti Twp., ND. So when I ask her what time it is, she's giving me a time from the North Dakota time zone, which is an hour behind my Michigan time zone.
The clock on my computer has the correct time and time zone.
I ensured that the address settings in my Hotmail account is correct.
I ensured that my Bing settings knows my correct address.
I added my address to Favorite Places in Cortana and set it as "Home".
Nothing seems to get Cortana to give me the right time (or home location).
So where do I go to correct my home location for Cortana?
After install of November update, or 1511 (for the 11th month of 2015), or build 10586 windows 10 update now all apps in Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus except Microsoft Word configure each time they start.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus with same result.
It is easy to increase the time an Outlook 2013 Desktop Alert stays on for a long time (hours or maybe all day) by using the registry hack below in Windows 7. This won't work under Windows 10. The longest time I can get by any method, Control Panel or hack is 5 minutes. How to make it at least a couple of hours or preferably all day?

The new Parental Control system is generally a big step forward, though I disagree with the kids having to have an email / Microsoft account and would prefer to be able to leverage local accounts.
One area that could do with a little tweak is around the Screen Time. Specifically, I may want to allow my child an hour a day of general screen time, but limit access to a particular game / app to 1 hour per week to stop them getting obsessed. Sure I can just block them after the fact, but it would be better to allow you to define the rules up-front.
Upgraded to Windows 10 Full version from Windows 8.1 two days back. My battery drains in short span of time. I disabled the background apps. Still battery life is poor.
View 7 RepliesYesterday I installed Windows 10 Professional on my Acer Aspire V5-573G laptop. I installed the English (US) version even though I live in the Netherlands. When I corrected the time I have set it to the correct timezone (see screenshot) but it has the wrong time connected to it. As seen on the screenshot the time displayed is 21:49 even though when I took it, it was actually 13:49. Off course I could manually change the time, but I was wondering if maybe this is part of some bigger problem and if there is a better way to fix it.

View 1 RepliesThis has never happened to me before upgrading to windows 10. 2-3 times a day my internet connection simply turns off for no reason. If I unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back again it works fine like normal again. This seems pretty weird and I don't know why is it happening.
PS: I have a laptop and my internet actually works fine on my brother's windows 7 laptop even when it turns off for me, so it's windows 10 problem.
Ever since I upgraded to Win 10 from 7, half of my folders in my music folder have white borders around the artwork. Below is an example. I tried using Disk Cleanup to clear the thumbnail cache but my music is stored on a separate partition. It wont let me select clear thumbnail cache for that drive. Maybe that's not the issue at all. I don't know. I also have tried removing the artwork from those albums and replacing them and that didn't work either.

When multi tasking in tablet mode, if i swipe out from the left to bring up task view, and select another app, there is a white screen for a brief period (maybe like half a second) before the app launches.. This happens with all apps I've tried, even edge and the settings app. If i have the keyboard attached in tablet mode and use windows key + tab to bring up task view, the same things happens.
However, if I use alt + tab to scroll through the open apps in tablet mode, it does not happen.
So it seems to be something with task view.
So after I upgraded to windows 10 everything is going fine except for some reason when I don't use the computer for a period of time the monitors will just start flashing white over and over until I have to restart the computer with the power button.
View 1 RepliesMultiple times today my PC has displayed an all white screen but the mouse cursor is visible. The first time I noticed this was after an idle period (more than an hour) I rebooted the PC but the white screen returned, I rebooted again and it was gone but the PC took longer than normal to load windows. The PC then ran for several hours in a "normal" state (I didn't notice any issues but I'm a novice) however after an idle period (more than 30 minutes) the white screen returned. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete brought the desktop back up (I did not attempt this the first time) and the computer once again appears to be running fine.
I ran my Norton antivirus and Malwarebytes full scans in regular mode and the MBAM scan displayed several PUPs from "mindspark" which have been removed.
I have win 10 pro installed on my dell e6410. When I start my laptop I see very bright blank white splash screen for 2 seconds during the boot process. The sequence is as folows:
1- I press start button and it powers up
2- Windows 10 logo screen appears
3- Very bright white splash screen appears for 2 seconds(This is not normal as i don't see it on work computer which also have windows 10 pro )
4- Then Windows 10 login screen appears and then everything normal.
How to get rid of appearance of this very bright white splash screen which appears during boot process as it is very annoying when you work in dark environment.
