View 2 RepliesJust out of curiousity, do you prefer using Groove Music or WMP for playing music files? I have hardly used Groove Music except for certain file types. WMP is still good as ever Is Microsoft going to provide future updates for it?
View 8 RepliesI have all my media, music and movies sitting on a ReadyNAS 516 and have the shares mapped to Win 10 just fine. I can access all my media from the OS and other applications just fine. The issue is when I add "where to look" from both Groove Music and Movies and TV app, they never pick up my media and add to the available media for playback.
View 9 RepliesIn windows 7 I could play a DVD in the media player, can't make it work in Windows10? Have some YouTube Video's and they play in Media Player but can't get DVD to play. Don't see in the player where I can go to the DVD Drive ?
View 9 RepliesSince Win 10 update I can longer play MP4 videos I used to be able to play in Win 7, using Windows Media Player.
Why has this function stopped? I thought win 10 was an "improvement".
This is the error message - Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
OK, so once again, Windows Media Player will not play certain filetypes, specifically .flv files, despite the fact that it recently would play them.
I have the k-lite codec pack
Any solution other than "Uninstall Windows 10"?
why windows media player 12 wont play YouTube video's, it plays the audio side but not the video of it..I had windows media player 11 in before the windows 10 update and now media player wont play the videos only audio.
View 2 RepliesRecently I am notice Media Player is crashing while Groove cannot even find a single media file out of 100GB music. Audacious stupid Groove asks: "My dear please tell me where to search for your lovely music files?", but then turns over and goes to sleep. Very disappointing. Now I cannot play any music neither by Media Player nor Groove.
View 1 RepliesI'd like to know why windows media player won't play my media files after a reboot. Didn't change codecs. Didn't delete anything.
I did try to restore cos I suddenly couldn't go online but the restore said that it didn't work so I assume nothing was changed
Same exact file, same folder, now won't play.
Oh, and Chrome now won't open. Makes the little "timer" spinny icon thing, then that stops, program isn't open. I know that's a different problem but it started at the same time
It's extremely frustrating to switch to what you think will be a new and improved os and have these things happen
And it's not like I have an old printer that won't work now or something. This is windows media player
Trying to play a movie off of my E: drive and it plays with good audio and video for about 3 seconds. Then it starts acting like it's buffering from the internet and pausing for several seconds before playing again...ultimately crashing the program with an error message telling me to contact the maker of my Xbox for support. This is a PC I built without scavenging XBoxes or any other video game consoles, even the dust that ended up in the case is original. Why the hell does it think I need to contact Xbox.com in order to solve this problem? Further more, this movie has been on my hard drive for years and hasn't had problems playing until Windows 10.
The exact text of the error is here:
Can't play.
Please try again. If the problem continues, visit Xbox.com to check for guidance.

Also does it re-store my existing music files on my computer, thereby taking up more space.
View 2 RepliesMy player keeps closing when ever I try to find the correct album info. It only seems to happen when I search for the correct album.
View 6 RepliesOkay, this is a really weird one. For the last 2 months I've been experiencing this reoccurring issue on my new Dell XPS 13 laptop where 1-2 times a day, the audio will suddenly get extremely staticy. It generally will last at least 1 minute but sometimes significantly longer, and will affect all audio, including Windows alert sounds and even the "Playback device" test sound. This affects both the internal laptop speakers and any AUX device. I have not experienced the issue when audio is played through HDMI/DP, but I haven't been able to test it enough to know for certain.
However, there is one exception that I have only discovered today: the audio issue does NOT affect any files played through Win10's new default player, Groove. I have played exactly the same audio file on both VLC and Groove "even concurrently" to confirm.
I've posted a link below to an MP3 recording of it: [URL]
I've spoken to Dell and we have tried countless fixes that I've tried to list below, but the problem persists:
Fresh reinstall of Windows
Replaced motherboard (twice?)
Uninstalled Realtek audio drivers
Updated BIOS
Tried changing all settings in the Realtek HD Audio Manager
Probably 4-5 other issues
I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1. now my media player will not burn my music to cd. Looking for the right driver for my media player.
View 1 RepliesCall me old fashioned but how can I automatically send music downloads to Windows Media Player
View 4 RepliesThe player just loads empty , white in colour with a few lines ... I looked in search for threads regarding groove player but didn't see anything solved. Why this is happening & how to fix it?
View 8 Repliesi have never used Groove for music simply because I have an iPhone so my music management has always been iTunes. But I was curious about groove. One thing I can't find any info for is if you was to buy a music track from groove/Windows store what file format is downloaded? On iTunes it's typically an m4a format
View 4 RepliesThat's the only way I can get it to my hard drive in my car audio system..
View 2 Repliesi noticed that after updating to build 10547 i cant play music and minise the app anymore. this but happened a while ago back on windows 8 and it just went away i think but its very annoying, i have to use vlc to listen to music now and i like groove music
View 3 RepliesWindows 10's Groove Music app ignores every modification I make to albums downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Whether it's song/album titles or cover art, Groove continues to display the music as it was before my changes, while other media players have no problems displaying it with the correct information.
I am not signed into my Microsoft account, and automatic retrieval is disabled. The problem continues to occur even after I've reinstalled the application.
This is not okay at all. How can I make them not mute when I minimize them? Someone asked me to go to Settings>Privacy>BackGround Apps.iHeart radio is set to on and that has no difference. Groove music is not listed.
View 4 RepliesSpent the best part of a day fixing my PC after a W10 upgrade this morning. All seems to be working well now except that I have an issue with a couple of Metro apps - those named in the title. What happens is that the apps open and then automatically close themselves after about a second. The main Store app opens fine as do all other Metro apps. Its just these two..
View 2 RepliesI am trying to play music from my music library in cyberlink media suite power dvd. None play, no error messages present....
View 8 Repliesplayer will not play multi chooses , only one selection. I highlight 3 songs , it only plays the last one.
View 2 RepliesIt seems my media player is corrupted since a previous update. It will not play videos without looking like Dr Timothy Leary made them. Is there a place I can download Media Player 12? I went to the Windows download pages but it never has a trigger to download even though its entitled Window Media Player 12 Download, it just brags how great it is.
View 6 RepliesWhen I open Media Player it asks me to connect an external burner. I thought you could burn to cds with Media Player, previous system Windows 7 Home.
