I am trying Aomei backup.When I click on the disc backup it appears that both MBR and C: are included but the next step, even after adding the word add, seems to include only C:. Does this invisible MBR is included in the back up?i also would like to ask if it is possible to run a disc backup without scheduling. And lastly, is the back up verified?

Is there a way to backup the Windows 10 files to a disc (only windows files) so I would have my Windows 10 copy ready for fresh install?Or in that case I will need to live with my Windows 8.1?

View 1 RepliesI see that Win10 has deleted the function to schedule the creation of restore points! Supposedly it creates a new restore point before downloading updates (if the function is turned on; by default it is off!).
I like to schedule the creation of points every few days or each week to prevent viruses from corrupting things. This feature is so important; I can't believe they have hidden it, made it less functional, and turned it off by default!
Is there any way to run the creation button from the task scheduler or something to automatically schedule restore point creation?

Though I use Macrium for backup but few months back I created a Backup of one PC with Redo and saved the backup directly in pen drive but forgot to format the pen drive in NTFS and it remained Fat32. So the Redo created backup in four parts i.e part2, part3, part4 and part 5 ( I do not know why part 1 is not there) total 7GB. My question is whether Redo will be able to restore the backup from these parts or I will have to first joined the parts which I do not know how?
View 2 RepliesI have a Dell Inspiron 17R laptop that came with Windows 8. I downloaded 8.1 and used that since 2013. I am now using Windows 10 and it has been it good transition until the last update. I keep getting messages about dell backup and recovery not being compatible with this version of Windows (Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.11). I would just like to unstall the Dell application since I do not need it. I have a backup of my system should I need it in the future.

It is unable to access the registry to restore using the Merge option in the context menu. I tried typing in the whole path to the file at the CMD prompt with the same results.
View 4 RepliesI have two backup tasks that appear in the "scheduled backups" tab, and they run on schedule, but they don't appear in the "backup definition files" tab.
This happened due to an uninstall and reinstall.
How can I get them back into the "backup definition files" tab?
I still have the reflect folder in my documents, with the xml files that define the backup tasks. But for some reason, that isn't enough to get those tasks to appear in the scheduled backups tab.
Another minor issue: when I boot from the MR recovery partition, in order to run a restore, it doesn't know where to look for my backup files. I have to add the folder manually, and then it forgets again the next time.

Trying to restore an image on to a RAID 0 SSD from stand alone version.
After loading the RAID driver Macrium SEES all the HDD's and can select images etc.
However when TARGET destination is chosen No HDD's are seen. !!!
Need fixing this --otherwise this backup software becomes USELESS !!!!.

I have a bootable windows installation Thumb Drive. Can Macrium make a backup of this thumb drive so in the event of this thumb drive going faulty, I could make another Thumb drive with the backup image.

Is it possible for me to use this license to download the OS to a usb and then just plug this USB into my new computer and install the OS that way?

View 4 RepliesI want to try and reinstall windows for him but he says the laptop never came with a windows disc, that it was pre-installed instead. I've never owned a laptop so I have no clue about it but I know my Alienware Aurora came with windows 7 disc and a key sticker which I still have. I thought maybe I could format and install windows from my disc but then what will happen since he doesn't have a key and also he had windows 8 not 7.
He went to the computer store and they told him they would format his drive and install windows 10 on it but I doubt they would give him a disc or key for it. If something like this happens again he will have to go and pay another 80 bucks for them to do this which is silly. Even paying the money this time is silly since he already has a legit version of windows 8.
For various reasons I decided to completely format my hard drive and partitions when installing windows 10, to give it a clean start.Now when I'm in windows 10 I have 2 drives, at 465gb each and a third one with 40mbs allocated as Dell Utilities and 930gb of unallocated space. No matter what I try I cannot link that unallocated space to anything. Even trying to create a simple volume out of it falls down by saying "the size of the extent is less than the minimum". I've tried extending my existing drives and using it but it throws up the same error or something about not enough space.

I have an HP Envy i7 laptop which came with a 1TB hard drive. As there was space to add a second drive I added a 500GB drive. In addition I added a 320GB drive in the DVD slot (using a dvd/disc converter cartridge).
I have recently noticed that disc access in Explorer has become really slow (seems to think about it for 10 - 15 secs sometimes) and loading programs seems to take longer too.
Trying to install Windows 10 Pro 64 bit on an older desktop computer (AMD 4000+ CPU, Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard) and the boot disc won't get past the Windows logo splash screen; normally it would load the language and keyboard options after this, but in my case the process just hangs at the Windows logo and does not go past that.
I also notice that eventually the boot disc stops spinning in the drive, but the Windows logo remains. I've tried switching DVD drives but the same happens on another drive that I know is working
I updated a Lenovo Laptop from it's original Windows 8 (not 8.1) to Windows 10. The Laptop is working fine with all the updates and added apps install. Now, how do I create a reinstall, recovery or image disc in order to restore the OS prior to the time just before creating this backup disc? Again, this was an update to Windows 10, not a clean install.
