I'm running Office 2003 in Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) with no visible issues.
Except that when I want to save a Word document using "Save As" it prompts me for all sorts of unsuitable locations...My Music, My Pictures, My Videos, and some random programs which somehow landed up in the "Documents" folder. None of the shortcuts I'd like to see there (and which are in the folder, because I put them there!) show up. What to do?
Since i have upgraded to Win 10 i can no longer save any documents i create with MS Word.I try to save and this error messages pops up every time, and now i cant save any projects i create.
View 9 RepliesI tried to do a search but it didn't come up with much. where the Save/SaveAs/Open dialogs don't open and instead the app crashes? I've seen it in Notepad, Paint and Word. If I kill all explorer.exe processes, and then launch for example Notepad from Task Manager, the issue goes away, but as soon as I reboot, it returns.

View 3 RepliesI have a 1 TB SSD HDD with only my OS, Programs and Games on it, with another 1 TB (Mechanical) HDD installed for my Data (Documents, Pics, etc.). I did the upgrade option (not a clean install) and for some reason now, I can't save any documents to my DOCUMENTS folder without getting an error message:
You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?
If I choose YES OR NO, nothing happens. I can only save it to my desktop.
I normally do a Clean install, but wanted to get my Serial by doing the upgrade first, so when I install it, I have my Activation Code that is legit. I also noticed, Windows 10 turned of my Ethernet Devices on it's own...but that's for another post!
Ever since I installed Windows 10 I am unable to <File/Save As> from either Word or Outlook.
View 12 RepliesI recently purchased a new Dell laptop with Windows 10. I understand that Windows 10 defaults savings documents to the Documents folder on OneDrive. Every time I download documents, they get saved to OneDrive > Documents; whereas, I want them to save to the local Documents folder. I found an article that discussed how to change this by setting the Set Save Location to my local Documents folder. I did that, but Windows is not recognizing the change. Documents still get saved to OneDrive > Documents.how to fix this?

View 1 RepliesI've just updated to Windows 10 and found it impossible to print a document from Microsoft Word. When I press the "print" logo, or "Ctrl.P" I get a dialog box titled "Save Print Output as" with no facility to actually print. I've tried all the usual remedies... swearing, invoking the Almighty, banging my head on the table and threatening the computer with death...all to no avail.
There's probably something very simple that I've missed, but it still eludes me. Why do they mess about with something that has worked perfectly well up to now? All I want is to be able to print a doc. when I press "Print" ... is this too much to ask?
After installing Windows 10, I reopened some Word documents that have been an ongoing project for the past 8 years. They are long and complex documents including images, artwork and Chinese characters. I found that the formatting of these documents has been completely ruined! Everything has been moved around, some characters have been layered onto of one another and to top it off, the two fonts used for the entirety of the documents have been changed to another plainer font.
After checking the Word fonts, lots of them have disappeared, including the ones I use, and when I tried to import one of the old fonts in from a back up file, Word simply did not recognise it! Does Windows 10 automatically update to a newer version of Word when you install it? Is there any way to revert back to the way these documents were before the update? Manually reformatting them will take an estimated 1-2 years of work I tried looking at doing a system restore but there are no pre-saved restore points so haven't had any luck there, don't even know if it would work anyway..
Had this issue now since the 1511 update, when i set my image viewer to windows photo viewer it was reverting back to the win 10 photo app, i removed the app, I even installed photo gallery as it has the same functionality as PV, it now asks what software do i want to use to open every time i click to open a image.
I have set the defaults in several ways including file type associations etc. each time it reverts, I can open the image in PV after setting the default, then i close the image and reopen it to be greeted to the which software do you want to use window,
I have a small SSD holding my OS, and a large HDD for everything else. I am trying to change the default install path to my storage drive, but when I go to settings, system, storage, I am unable to change the default install path to my storage drive (F:). Everything else (pictures, documents, music, etc.) can be changed to F:, but app install can't. I am able to manually change it while installing programs, but I would like to set it as the default.

Since word is used by Outlook, it also means that I have the normal.docx style sheet issue when composing mail or opening attachments. Installed Office 2016 in trial mode. No change. Exactly the same problem with Office 2016 as Office 2013.
I am trying to add an email address from an existing email from the Windows 10 Mail app to the Windows 10 People app. I click the email adress, click OPEN CONTACT, click SAVE. It does not save. Instead, it opens my list of contacts and asks me to "Choose a contact". I have to be able to save new contacts from my emails I receive.

I am using Office 2007 and when i try to save documents, ie; excel or word, i am told i am unable to save to the document folders or previous .xls folders that i had created. The system will let me save the file to the desktop...then i have to drag and drop into the designated folders...with a prompt telling me that i need admin privileges. What gives with this?

In Word 2010 you could Customize and make a Keyboard Shortcut by selecting InsertImagerScan. In Word 2010 I made this shortcut by using the CTRL+8 keys and I could scan directly into Word 10 by using that key combination. I tried to set up the same Keyboard Shortcut option in Word 2013 - The InsertImagerScan is available in Word 2013 but I can't get it to work. How to Scan Directly Into Word 2013?

View 1 RepliesSince I upgraded to Windows 10; I have noticed that all my older Word documents have been made "Read Only". Despite changing the properties to correct this. Word still loads them as Read Only documents and will not let me make changes. I also noticed; that since the upgrade, despite my account having FULL ADMINISTRATOR rights and permissions, Every action I take to attempt to correct any issues pops up the message that I need administrator rights to complete the action. The problems I experience on my Laptop don't apply to back-ups of the documents on external storage devices. Is there a simple fix for this?

View 9 RepliesI'm not tech savvy nor do I pretend to understand much of the content in this forum; however, I'm trying really hard to like Windows 10 (Edge) and think I'm missing something. I came from Win7 and have spent the last three days using Windows 10. I do a lot of research and loved the fact I could highlight a word or phrase, RC on search "Google" and have instant results. In addition, if I wanted to save something to the desktop....RC and save to desktop...very simple. Am I correct in thinking I now need several convoluted steps to get the same things done if I can do them at all? I know I can use a different search engine and get the job done but Edge is reputed to be faster.
