View 1 RepliesI have a brand new gaming computer with Windows 10 and have been trying to run LOTR Battle for Middle Earth which is a relatively old game from the Win 2000/XP days. The game loaded fine but when it tries to start up the game it fails and comes up with the following Exception error:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access. Access address 0x000e9fb8 was read from.

Where your start screen/menu just crashes or vanishes after a second or two. This only started happening for me now in build 10166, and the menu was behaving beautifully in the earlier build (10162). I am unable to access all apps or customize my tiles. Most of the time it makes is very difficult to actually clck or tap on any of the tiles either to run something.
I've tried to change the configuration between "menu" and "screen" to see if its restricted to one of them, but both of them vanish after a few seconds.
I am upgrading to Windows 10 but I don't have the status of it on my device. How do I know how much longer my upgrade has to go?
View 1 RepliesAfter the latest update of Windows 10, whenever I turn on or off the CAPS LOCK, the NUM LOCK and SCROLL LOCK, I get an annoying notification saying their on or off. How do I make this notification away?
Seems it was a process that came with the HP mouse I bought.
In which way i can hide the icon language on status bar ??
View 6 RepliesI am using hp 14-r029tx and windows 10 pro. The problem is, I have my wifi on. But the airplane mode status shows activated which means airplane mode is on. If my wifi is on then how come airplane mode is also on? Sometimes wifi takes too much time to load and sometimes have to reboot also. my wifi adapter is QUALCOMM Atheros qca 9565 with Bluetooth.
View 9 RepliesI chose to log in use the PIN option. I like typing with the num pad.
At the log on screen Num Lock was always off.
1. Checked the BIOS settings:
Ensured that the NumLock status in the BIOS was set to enabled
2. Modified the registry a few times
Key: HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTControl PanelKeyboard
I set the String Value: InitialKeyboardIndicators
to 2
then I tried 80000002
then I tried 2147483650
So I have partial success, where NumLock is enabled after a restart, but it is not enabled after a cold-boot.
When I boot into win 10 I get a black screen that says:
Windows Failed to start
Status: 0xc000000f
When I boot to a Win 10 Install disk I select:
English, next
Repair your computer
Troubleshoot
Advanced options
Startup Repair
It says it's Diagnosing problems
Attempting repairs
Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC.
What can I do to fix the boot up problem?
I tried the registry fix that worked last time on Windows 7 to fix this issue of custom icons not automatically changing, but apparently it cropped up again in Windows 10, and is also not fixable via adding the ",0" to the end of the registry entry.
View 1 RepliesI am running Windows 10 Home, upgraded from Windows 7. I'm trying to reinstall Windows 10 via the 'Reset PC' function. Each time I try the ensuing restart results in WDF_Violation. This error occurs regards whether I initiate the function in safe mode or the other ways.
Please see management attachment below.
Was away for two weeks. Upon return, could not find main user name or files. Tried to do a recovery to the last date it worked. I get a WDF VIOLATION and reboot. Cannot recover.
View 3 RepliesInstalled Win 10 about 2 week ago. Installation went smoothly.
Started up PC this morning.
Blue Screen with sad face "windows encountered a problem as need to restart - well restart for you"
I then shows a screen with "Starting Automatic Repair". Then back to the "windows has encountered a problem"
Nothing but a perpetual loop
F8 does nothing
F2 and F12 work but provide no remedy .....
Ever since I installed Windows 10 some of my devices will suddenly get errors and stop working until reboot or the driver will completely disappear (also goes comes back to normal after restarting).
These are the devices that I've had trouble with:b
- Touch Screen (HID-compilant touch screen) [Disappears]
- USB Ports [Gets Error 43]
- Bluetooth [Disappears]
- Unknown Device (Not sure what this is) ["Drivers not installed." Error 28.]
They all start having trouble at the same time, it's instantaneous and there is no other indicator for it other than the "Device Plug Out" sound. I've tried looking for new drivers with the Windows wizard, uninstalling and then selecting "Look for Hardware Changes" , and rebooting--which, as I've mentioned before, temporarily fixes this.
I've found topics exclusively for the USB Ports error, and the rest just seem to be fixed by everyone through reboot, but I want a permanent solution. Otherwise I'll consider going back to Windows 7 or just leave Windows altogether.
I recently updated my Sony VAIO from Windows 7 to Windows 10. For the last week or so, I have found when playing audio (on sites such as YouTube and Soundcloud), the sound cuts out and the stream pauses, and doesn't reload until I refresh the page. This happens several times on a daily basis. Occasionally, the sound cut-out directly leads to 'DPC Watchdog Violation' BSOD.
I am guessing it's my sound driver that's causing the issue? I am not sure though.

Just installed Windows 10 from Windows 7. Get a black screen without cursor after sign in. When boot up in safe mode, I get a WDF violation and automatic restart whenever I attempt to go to a recovery point or any other option. This creates an loop that I can't break. I am able to access my web browser (chrome) and Excel by pressing control/alt/delete and using the new file feature on the Task Manager.
View 1 RepliesSo I have an Old pc upgraded to Win 10, worked ok at the weekend. But after a windows Auto update I get a Watchdog violation every 10 mins or so. I guess some driver has been 'updated' by windows and is causing a crash ? Heres the log. Which driver I need to downgrade. I hate windows update it just breaks things.
View 3 RepliesI was updating my Dell Venue Pro 8 to Windows 10 Build 10547 and got a red error message that read. "Secure Boot Violation" "Invalid signature detected. Check Secure Boot Policy in Setup". There is an OK button at the bottom of the message, but nothing happens when I try to click on it. I can shut the tablet off, but when I start it I get the same message. I am stuck. Where to I go from here.
View 6 Replies3 weeks before my AIO Desktop while trying to reset gave a WDF_violation error after that my display went completely blank. I visited service Centre he told me to replace my Mobo, so I did and got my PC today working but the service rep told me to roll back to Windows 8 since 10 had lot of issues. So while resetting my PC again it terminated and gave a WDF_VIOLATION again and after that my display went blank again. Note both the times after resetting this thing happened.

View 5 RepliesI've been having nothing but problems with Windows 10 since I upgraded from windows 7. All the parts I've had worked on 7 just fine. I upgraded to 10 and I've been getting BSOD randomly and especially on the startups. I even would get BSOD just from the upgrade to 10. I had to turn off turbo core and cool and quiet so it would get through the installation. I noticed one of my HDD broke in the process. Didn't work on any computer I tested it on. Might be a coincidence as it's 5 years old. A few days after I finally got 10 to work. I put my computer in a new case with a new PSU. It would work fine for a week or two and then it would BSOD randomly. I had an issue with Google Chrome in that it would slowly lock my computer up everytime I opened it. I initially thought my SSD was going bad but it's only 2 years old. I stopped using Chrome and the problem stopped for awhile. Every once and awhile I would get a BSOD randomly or on a startup but it would always fix itself. Now I'm getting a new error that is the worst yet.
I use my computer for animations, rendering, gaming, browsing so it gets worked quite often but it doesn't crash during intense use. Now I'm completely stuck. I am getting this "driver verifier iomanager violation wdf01000.sys" BSOD everytime I boot up the computer. I don't remember installing anything new the last time I used it.
When I get in to safe mode, a BSOD System_exception_error will pop up in 5 minutes or so. Sometimes it will be a kmode error. I noticed sometimes I would get it just starting up in safe mode. I barely managed to get the dump file off of there.
I've attached text from the dump file : DANIEL-PC-Fri_01_01_2016_180310_03.zip

My internet worked fine and I didn't do any changes to it up until it stopped working. I've managed to fix the internet access to allow me to access the internet on my laptop through wi-fi but network access still says no internet access. Websites work however ethernet does not work! I can't connect online on my playstation because ethernet doesn't work. I've tried disabling and enabling the ethernet. I checked the cables, I re-installed the drivers and i turned off and on the router more than I could count.
The internet works on my laptop however a connection test on my playstation 3 says obtain ip address succeeded and internet connection failed. So I can't play online. I am absolutely certain the playstation 3 is not fault as I checked vigurously the settings and I've put in the right connections, however it still does not work? Should I buy new cables for the router?
We're basically done after about, 30+ tries, but all of a sudden, I CRASH :C. The problems are happening after Windows 10, I think something is screwing around with my GPU or my GPU driver. My games in general actually have been pretty unstable, like Witcher 3 etc. I don't think it's a driver issue because i clean re-installed it yesterday.

I have had persistent problems recently with my computer freezing/crashing. This is an HP Pavilion, model 500-123a, running Windows 10 (recently upgraded from Windows 8). What's been happening is that it's been stalling out, both in Word (without broadband on) and on the Web (eg Yahoo, Yahoo Mail). In Word the cursor freezes and will not move, the screen goes opaque white, the blue circle whirls, can't do anything with it, can't shut down, and I have to unplug it and reboot.
This can happen 3 or 4 times a day. In Yahoo, similarly, the screen freezes, the cursor won't move at all, and have to unplug. I used software, PC Health Advisor, to try to diagnose the problem, and it hasn't signalled up anything specifically. From checks I've done, it doesn't look like fragmentation, nor RAM (8GB), nor registry issues, nor a monitor problem.
Facebook app crashes as soon as it loads on my laptop which has been upgraded to windows 10.
View 10 RepliesMy laptop crashes every time I scan and then try to clean the issues identified by Adwcleaner. Below is my logfile. This is linked to a problem I have with yahoo constantly coming up as my search engine and homepage even though its actually google.
