Asus P7H55 And Sony Bravia - HDMI Not Compatible Since Upgrade

Sep 11, 2015

I just upgraded my htpc computer from win7 to win10 this morning. I have an Asus P7H55 motherboard with onboard Intel HD graphics H55 series. things were not perfect to start with.

Situation before the upgrade:
- if I was watching a moving in full screen on Netflix and went away forgetting to come back to the main web page, 9/10 when I would come back to the PC, the TV would somehow have forgotten it was connected and flash as it had lost its signal. I had to hard-reboot the computer, then the problem was fixed until next time. I never was able to figure out why it did that - overheating? incompatibility when going to idle / screensaver if in full screen? was it specific to the TV? I just went with it.

Situation after the upgrade:
Now, the TV just won't display the computer, period. I know something changed during the install of win10 - as the TV screen suddenly went dark then an error message "incompatible" started showing at the bottom of the screen.

What I tried so far:
- I went on Asus' website to try to download windows 10 drivers. Somehow they seem to have forgotten putting them on their website. The 8.1 ones dont work either.
- I tried downloading stuff from Intel (they provide the chipset and graph card) but so far haven't had much success

What I'd like to avoid:
- in some research, I found that some people had to connect using VGA instead of HDMI to fix this problem with their Sony Bravia TV. I'm not thrilled with this idea as the resolution and quality would degrade compared to HDMI.
- if at all possible I'd also like to avoid having to purchase a brand new graph card for this computer.

My setup:
motherboard: asus p7h55
tv: sony bravia

HDMI Cable Is Not Working On Asus Notebook After Update

Aug 30, 2015

My HDMI Cable is not working on my Asus Notebook after I did the Windows 10 update. I have tried fixing the sound and resolution on control panel, i also made sure all updates and installation of apps are up to date, however, the TV doesn't seem to recognize the cable anymore, or the computer.

Tried changing the settings on the TV as suggested on one of these forums. I must be missing something.

Drivers/Hardware :: HDMI Audio No Longer Function Post Upgrade

Sep 19, 2015

Just this past day I upgraded my Dell XPS 15 from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and I noticed I'm now having the same issue as many recently-upgraded users, specifically that when connected to a TV via HDMI, audio does not switch over to my TV's speakers, however, it stays with my computer's speakers, and video works perfectly fine.

In the audio devices panel, the Digital Audio (HDMI) speakers are displayed, but are listed as "not plugged in", as displayed below.

My drivers are all updated, cables tested on multiple devices, I'm running a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, driver version 10.18.13.5362

I've seen this problem in other threads, tried multiple solutions, but to no avail, therefore would like a solution specific to my model/make.

No Video Signal After Upgrade (ASUS GTX 650 Ti Boost)

Jul 30, 2015

I was installing everything with relative ease so I left my computer unattended. When I came back, the computer had restarted and sounded fine except there was no video output. (I aIso couldn't hear the hard drive spinning), thinking this was normal, let it sit for about 3 hours before I got suspicious. So I tried all of the available video ports (except displayport) and none of them had a signal. I let it sit for about 2 more hours, still, nothing. So I tried turning it of and back on again. Still, nothing.

Asus Only Boots Into EUFI BIOS Screen After Upgrade?

Feb 10, 2016

I have an Asus AiO ET2221A upgraded from Win8.1 to 10 3 months ago, and today only boots into the EUFI BIOS screen. There are no errors reported on Boot, just the BIOS screen

I was able to run Memtest from a DVD - fine, but couldn't boot into Hirens on USB or DVD. The BIOS does list the hdd partitions, plus I can search the hdd partitions/folders from within BIOS(!!).

I did remove and run Chkldsk on anther PC which showed/replaced several errors (20 bad sectors). I also loaded the latest BIOS download onto the hdd which in theory I can access from within BIOS. However after replacing the hdd after the chkdsk repair, it still wouldn't boot into Windows.

I am surprised as I would expect the BIOS to report it can't find the Windows (if it is the disk), rather than stick in BIOS without any diagnostics.

So I am still in a quandary as to whether this is a BIOS issue and/or a HDD issue, plus by upgrading from 8.1 to 10 the latter usually corrupts the Windows (8.1) recovery partition.

I am no expert on EUFI BIOS, but I understand that the Windows License is stored within the BIOS. If I try and re-install the BIOS is the license retained? And from that could I also re-install WIndows 10 from a download?

Edit: since posting I have got the system to boot into Hirens, but as soon as XP starts to load it turns off the USB mouse/keyboard so becomes useless. All I did was to switch off secure boot, and specify the boot order, either optical or USB. Progress but not sure what it tells me, or how I can get the usb mouse to work in Hirens in a eufi system (not had this issue before with non-eufi systems).

Installation :: Asus Zenbook UX31E Not Working After Upgrade

Sep 24, 2015

Some weeks ago I upgraded my son's Zenbook. Initially it seemed to work fine. So I did a clean install. I can vaguely remember an odd miss start-up after the clean install. It seemed to work allright after that. Anyway my son skyped a couple of weeks ago to say it isn't working. Generally speaking, can I fresh install the original W7, it was home premium. I haven't a disk and wonder if there are any ISO's available at MS for download?

BSOD :: Upgrade Locks Out ASUS Motherboards And USB Sockets

Dec 10, 2015

Having Windows 10! automatically upgraded the computer Operating System (OS) you find your ASUS Motherboard has become inaccessible due to no mouse or keyboard controls. You may also find your BIOS/UEFI is inaccessible or refuses to start.

First, if you have ASUS AI Suite versions 2 or 3 when Windows 10 installed and ASUS had USB+ power controlled app, then Windows 10 on starting disables all USB 2 and 3 ports. Only solution is crash the computer 2 or 3 times whilst Windows 10 is loading the basic system; I did this by holding down the power on button for more than 6 seconds. after the computer tries to reboot the third (3) time it should start with an accessible screen asking for the user to input a decision how to reboot.
Two Options; 1. start in safe mode and hack ASUS AI Suite by manually uninstalling the program. 2. Revert to Windows 7 and uninstall AI Suite correctly.

Second, if you cannot access BIOS/UEFI, it is because Windows 10 loaded something into the motherboard active memory; to recover switch off or remove mains power and wait until BIOS goes to battery backup; about 5 minutes. If you have additional graphics cards like I have, switch off power until the LED's on the cards go out. Then switch mains power back on and you should be able to access the BIOS/UEFI with the delete key before Windows 10 logo starts.

Asus Vivobook Restarts When Waking From Sleep Mode After Upgrade

I entered the BIOS and the AHPC mode was enabled, and was the only option. I looked through the computer power options, but I can't find anything.

Netgear Adapter Is Not Compatible

Jul 31, 2015

I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 but unfortunately my Netgear adapter is not compatible with Windows 10. It has Windows 10 support available via online driver updates but I am not sure on how to install them since I do not have internet on my computer and the easiest route, albeit the more expensive option, would be to simply buy a network adapter that supports Windows 10 and can be installed from the driver disk that comes with it. I was curious as to what Windows 10 network adapter is best and for a reasonable price.

Sony Vaio AIO Can't POST But HDD Is Active

Sep 30, 2015

Sony VAIO AIO model SVL241290X, Core i7, 2Tb HDD 64 bit, started doing a startup/shutdown constantly (not exactly a loop) never getting to POST or Welcome screen for Windows 10. It started doing it when I hooked up an old HDD to move files from it to the VAIO which had been in a machine that did the same thing. Thought it was a bad motherboard on the old PC, but now I think it's a virus. Whenever I power the VAIO down by pressing/holding the power button, and starting it up again, it just resumes with HDD activity but never shows anything on the monitor.

Even the VAIO Assist button doesn't work. Also can't get to BIOS or Safe Mode. Sounds like a virus - maybe a rootkit MBR virus? Right now I can't do anything with this machine. Normal troubleshooting does not work. I don't have any restore discs or bootable recovery discs, although I am creating a copy of Windows 10 on USB drive with Microsoft's Media Creation Tool. But, without being able to designate the USB port to look at first in BIOS, that won't work either. Most important things are backed up, but I have a few things I would not like to lose.

How can I enable Stereo Mix on Windows 10?

Video Playback Distortion - Sony Vaio Pro 13

Aug 27, 2015

I'm on a Sony Vaio Pro 13 running Windows 10 64bit. Ever since upgrading to Windows 10 I've been experiencing strange horizontal distortion on the right half of the screen while viewing videos through any internet browser. The issue seems to be confined to YouTube ads (actual videos themselves are fine), news websites, and other websites whose video encoding is presumably similar. I've attached a fairly shoddy image I took with my phone to demonstrate the issue.

I have upgraded and tried reinstalling any driver that I thought was feasibly connected to video playback to no avail.

Video Card Is Not Compatible / Do Not Have On-board Graphics

Jul 17, 2015

I am using the MSI X99s Gaming 7 motherboard with the GTX 980 video card.I am having trouble obtaining the correct driver for the GTX 980 and the msi motherboard. What I want is the best resolution. I need the video memory to show exactly 4GB in dxdiag but instead it shows as 20000MB which is obviously a windows glitch. I have the Nvidia control panel. It is showing 4GB of vram. However the dxdiag utility is not showing this correctly. So I guess there is still some problem with the driver.

- Since I have windows 10 I need the update for the driver but that driver I installed specifically made for windows 10, has given me very poor results since my resolution has dramatically changed. I have used the Nvidia software to search for the windows 10 driver and it has found it but the driver is not very well coded. I am using DVI-VGA connection not HDMI however it should not matter because they output the same resolution anyway. The only difference is that hdmi also includes HD sound.

So I use a VGA 15" monitor. It should not be that that's the problem because even I use my banq 2024HD monitor (4K) it still happens. Maybe GTX 980 is not made for windows 10. That's why the new drivers are realy badly made?

I can roll back the windows 10 driver to the windows 8.1 one that gives me the best resolution. I can change the resolution to high so that everything looks nice and clean and the text is nice clear and small and not TOO large. When I play a game, it says that the video card is not compatible. I do not have on-board graphics.

Right-hand Click Menu Missing From Sony VAIO After Update?

(to be clear: I'm talking about the menu that has copy/paste/select all etc on standard programs, or thesaurus/font etc on Microsoft Word.)
