I have an Asus Vivobook. In windows 8 I used sleep mode all the time. after the upgrade to windows 10 whenever the computer enters sleep mode either by closing the lid, automated or manual, when I wake it it restarts. I entered the BIOS and the AHPC mode was enabled, and was the only option. I looked through the computer power options, but I can't find anything.
View 1 RepliesAbout 3 months ago, I upgraded my ASUS GL551JM Laptop to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. Now, whenever I close my laptop lid, or put my laptop to sleep using the "Zz" key on my keyboard, it restarts when I try to wake it up. All my unsaved work would be gone. I don't even get a restart prompt.
When I used to run Windows 8.1, I could just normally close the laptop lid, and open it without fearing that my laptop would restart.
So I decided I would try and put an SSD in my old Asus as it is quite slow. So before I cloned the drive I tried to reset it using the MS option in the settings. The first time it failed so I tried again and then got the same message saying it failed.
Now I am stuck in a bootloop, where it gets to the initial Asus screen, goes black and then loops back to the Asus screen.
Tried pressing F8 & F12 but doesn't get me anywhere, although Esc got me into: Please select Boot device so I think if I can just get Window 10 on the SSD and install I'll be good to go.
So I thought I would re-install W8 and then upgrade, however the guides say I will need the security key which for some reason is not on the Asus as it usually is on every other machine I have owned!
Since I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7 my pc every night wakes its self from sleep mode. I did the command prompt and it said a wake timer was waking my pc, I have been unable to find a wake timer. How to fix this?

View 1 RepliesSo, just like the title says, my PC keeps waking after I put it to sleep mode. It probably takes around 10-15 minutes of being in sleep before it wakes up. The reason I'm posting this question is because I have looked up solutions for this and they don't appear to be working.
I've checked my device manager; only my keyboard and mouse are enabled to wake my PC. I ran, powercfg -devicequery wake_armed, in my command prompt to make sure that only my keyboard and mouse are the only devices.
I disabled wake timers in the power options and ran, powercfg -waketimers, to see if there's waketimers. There aren't any.
I also ran, powercfg -lastwake, after my computer woke up automatically. I didn't take a picture of it but it said ther was a wake history count of 1 but it didn't state what was the source of it waking. I thought that was strange so I put it to sleep then woke it up with my mouse. Checked again with that command prompt and this time it specified the source which was my mouse obviously.
OS: Windows 10
When I put my laptop on sleep mode and wake it up a few hours later, it starts up and goes to my desktop and lets me use the computer for like 2-5 minutes and then the windows lock screen shows up and I have to put in the password. During this time, the start button is sometimes unresponsive and if I click shutdown or restart, it says "other people are still logged on, would you like to shutdown/restart anyways." This has been bothering me for a while now and it's very annoying. Booting up or restarting normally works fine. Also, if I put it on sleep and wake it up a few mins later, the lock screen shows up instantly and causes no problems.

Memory: Corsair Vengence LPX DDR4, 2666
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury

PSU: Corsair RM Series 750 Watt
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Air 540
OS: Windows 10 Home
The build went fairly well and the computer seems rather stable (and very, very quiet). But the main problem I am having is that after the computer wakes up from sleep mode, it crashes a few seconds later and re-boots. The event log will be riddled with entries upon reboot, but one critical event in particular catches my attention:
Event ID: 41, Kernel-Power
There are also a number of Errors that show up; not sure if they are normal or not but I suspect errors should not typically occur. I've updated all of my device drives but that didn't really seem to solve the issue. I also tried changing the power settings and un-selecting "Fast Startup" as per a recommendation I read on a different forum but that had no effect. To prevent the system crash, I've simply been shutting down my computer after I am done using it which isn't a bad thing, but I'd like to have the option of using sleep mode.
Also, for what it's worth, I remember having a bitch of a time with sleep mode with RAID 0 on my old computer, so perhaps Windows does not yet adequately support "sleep mode" with PCI-E controllers.

My PC is often waking from Hibernate or sleep mode and I'm struggling to work out why. Is there a way of finding out what the cause is in event viewer?
View 1 RepliesI upgraded from 7 to 10. The upgrade was smooth and I didn't see any issues immediately. But, after setting the power and screen saver settings, the monitor never went into standby and screen savers won't start. I did not try hibernation because I never used it before. I discovered that didn't work either. So, I regressed back to 7 and everything works as before. So, as a test, I installed a spare HDD and did a clean install from USB. Same issues as the upgrade. Maybe I'm nit-picky, but I want the monitor to go to power saver after 5 minutes.
View 31 RepliesI just upgraded windows 8.1 to windows 10, everything works fine, except monitor does not go to standby by after 15 minutes of idle. I checked power settings, change it, back, forward, nothing, same thing.
View 4 RepliesMy Asus T-100 hybrid tablet/laptop won't wake up from hibernation. It tells me to swipe to shut down computer and nothing happens. I ran down the battery, plugged in and then recharged. It's still stuck on hibernate and won't let me into windows at all.

I've disables the reboot and scan in to wake the pc in task scheduler, I removed the wake on lan, mouse and keyboard from waking it in device manager, and I've disabled what I can in power management. View 19 Repliesi am having a strange issue with my windows 10 pro version, It was working fine until the 3rd cumulative update. Now my lap never goes to sleep. When i sleep the laptop it goes to sleep and then automatically wake after 30 to 40 sec, and sometimes even 4 to 5 minutes. I have troubleshooted the power option, removed all the scheduled events but nothing works. On searching the command prompt with powercfg lastwake command it shows The POWER BUTTON.
View 2 RepliesI have windows 10 pro 64 bit. I am running a 120gb SSD for my OS and a 1.5TB HDD for media and games. Whenever I put the computer in standby or sleep mode the HDD is not recognized when the computer wakes up. Upon restart the HDD is recognized and everything is groovy.

I'm getting a blue screen advising "ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY" a couple of seconds after my computer wakes from sleep mode. It's not sporadic as it happens every time.
I've downloaded the log collector and attached the ZIP file to this post. First time poster so I hope I've done it correctly!
Never had a bsod occur on this machine. Need determining the cause of the situation.

This issue's surfaced for me since this morning. Whenever I put Windows to sleep, either manually or closing my lid, it shuts down the instant I start it back up.
View 4 RepliesRecently I have been finding my PC powered up when it should be sleeping. Using powercfg -lastwake does not show a cause but looking at system events I can that there are a series of events each day starting at 08:59:31. One of these is a Power - Troubleshooter event which says that the system has returned from a low power state but Wake Source is unknown. This and the other messages are ones that normally appear if I wake up the PC manually. There are subsequent events from Windows Update so I thought that might be the cause but it does not run immediately and I now believe that it is running because the PC has woken up and is not causing it to wake.
I have checked in Power Options Advanced Settings/Sleep and Allow wake timers is set to disabled.i have checked that on my network adaptor, 'Allow this device to wake the computer' is not checked.I have checked Control Panel/Security and Maintenance/Automatic Maintenance and Allow scheduled maintenance to wake my computer at the scheduled time is unchecked.
I had also checked in Task Scheduler and under WindowsUpdate there are 4 tasks but under Conditions, none are set to 'Wake the computer to run this task'.Checking back through the event logs it seems that this problem first happened on 27th Sep and always happens at 08:59:31. I have looked at the event log for the previous day and can see some events relating to the installation or update of a device driver although I haven't made changes to the hardware for a long time. It is followed by an event relating to Disk 3 which I don't normally have so I assume these were as a result of plugging in a USB device. There are also events relating to a windows update of VCLibs 12. how I can track down the culprit?
Since I upgraded to 10 I have had constant issues. Mainly when I put the machine to sleep it wakes itself up automatically.
I have banned all deviced from allowing it to wake, removed it from any workgroups and a million other fixes I have seen online. Yet I can't get it to stay asleep.
After viewing logs this file: NvStreamKms.sys is set to "demand start" and the next entry is the computer waking.
