View 1 RepliesMy laptop only has one combo audio/microphone jack, and I can't get the microphone to work at all. I just bought a new headset that came with an audio/microphone splitter specifically for the purpose of using it on this laptop. While the output works fine, the microphone input is absolutely ignored.
I am 100% positive this is an audio/microphone splitter (and not just an audio splitter) as it has 3 rings on the end of it (indicating that it is compatible with using a microphone), and one of the input jacks even has a microphone icon on it. Realtek Settings are nowhere to be found in Control Panel, and I couldn't seem to find anything in the system sound settings.
I have headset Genius HS-500X and it has 2 seperate cables for audio and mic. The problem is that my laptop has only 1 jack with headphones and microphone icon, so it should be a combo jack. About 2 months ago I've bought an splitter [URL] , that has one cable red and one green so it should work. It's the same as in picture. But when I plug everything in correctly microphone is not working and headphones have reversed sound, when sound should come from left side it comes from right. I've tried to reinstall software (realtek) many times, also bought another one splitter, but no success.
View 9 RepliesI don't know if this started since Windows 10, but I use headphones for PC sound and if I go outside to smoke a cigarette or something I take my headphones with me so I can listen to music from my phone. When I come back and replug my headphones into my PC, audio no longer works in games, FL studio, YouTube videos, etc. Until I restart the entire program. Systemsounds work fine after replugging but audio in anything other than Windows don't
View 1 RepliesOn my HP pavilion notebook the end of the headphones is stuck in that jack, currently I have a tool coming to repair that. Is there a way I can disable my audio jack. Headphones is not coming up in playback devices. The only thing that is is. Speakers/HP. I tried installing realtek software it will not install. It says it is installing the headphones than I switch it to the speakers as the default but then it switches back to the Speakers/HP.
View 1 RepliesMy audio jack is not working. I have tried reinstalling the driver and nothing. My laptop's speakers stop working when I connect my headphones, but no sound comes out. They are not detected in the Playback Devices and the Sound Mixer does not pick them up. The Realtek audio manager can, although not by default, detect when my headphones connect, but again, no sound comes out. I have tried several jacks and none works.
View 1 Repliesever since I got windows 10 my maxx audio doesn't work and now just says "MaxxAudio processes internal speakers output only"
View 1 RepliesI upgraded last night from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Pro.I am connecting from work with RDP to my home PC. RDP is Working, but there is no Audio. This is an existing connection that worked yesterday when both PC had Windows 7 on them.I have checked group policy on the server and it allows audio redirection. On client it is setup to bring audio to remote pc as it has always been. Client is with updated rdp client to allow protocol 8.1 with remotefx.I don't have another pc with Windows 10 to check if this is some incompatibility between Windows 7 as a client and Windows 10 as host. I did install the official Microsoft Remote Desktop Client for Android on my phone and tried with it, but the result is the same.
View 1 RepliesI have just updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my laptop and everything works fine except for videos. When I try to watch a video on Windows Media Player, I get a black screen but the audio of the video works fine. I have been using the VLC player without problems. YouTube videos for Microsoft Edge didn't work until I switched to use software rendering instead of GPU rendering. If I try to use the Film & TV for my videos, I get an error 0xc00d11cd (0x80004005) and to visit Xbox support. In the Xbox App, when I try to watch a friends video, it says the video could not be decoded. When I try to stream my Xbox, I get a black screen but the audio of my Xbox works with what I am doing on my Xbox controller. So the streaming works, but no video. i have tried everything.

I currently have an Asus Vivopc desktop that I use as an htpc and it is connected directly to my LG LB5800 tv. The PC has onboard speakers which sound terrible and when I connect the tv via HDMI, the video works fine but no sound comes from the tv.
I still get sound from the PC but no matter what I can see, there is no option whatsoever to have the TV as a playback device. It isn't listed at all. I've reinstalled the intel and realtek drivers but that didn't work. I've opened up the playback devices, shown disabled devices and it didn't show up either.
With Windows 8 it worked flawlessly. With Windows 8.1 it would only work when I rebooted the computer with the TV on, otherwise the device would disappear as soon as it was turned off. With Windows 10, it just isn't there at all.
I just upgraded my ASUS Laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 X64. (It has Via HD Audio)
Initially, sound worked but the microphone didn't. I fussed with many settings but nothing seemed to work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, then the mic seems to work but sound doesn't.
Some of the events that I have encountered are: One message said "Windows has detected that Audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems". I disabled all enhancements but nothing changedBased on other posts, I tried to change the default format to 16 bit and other Hz. Nothing worked.I tried to play a test tone in the speaker setup and got the message "Failed to play test tone".I tried to update the drivers but was informed that I had the latest drivers
I went to the VIA web site to look for new drivers but there are none listed for Win 10.
Is there something else that I can do or is it just a matter of waiting for new VIA drivers? (VIA HD Audio is such a common audio chip that I find it hard to imagine that VIA and Microsoft haven't solved the driver problem - particularly given the Insiders Hub process!)
So, after fruitless attempts at fixing the issue using other people threads I've decided to create my own.I'm one of those unlucky to be bugged by sound issues after an upgrade to Win10 from Win7. My Siberia v2 headset microphone doesn't work.
What I've tried:
1) Updating the VIA HD drivers, including the latest pack for Win10 (the one that marks your devices with (Win10)).
2) Lowering (and increasing) the bits and sampling rate
3) Installing the older drivers in compatibility mode. The one for Win7 gave me a blue screen and failed to install, Win 8.1 drivers made no difference, mic still didn't work.
4) Installing the generic Windows high definition audio device drivers. No difference.
The new driver pack from VIA still fails to set the correct device as default, enabling 'Headset' from the front panel which isn't even connected inside. Now, the 'speakers' option enables the audio playback, but microphone is still unresponsive. It behaves strangely, sometimes the volume indicator seems to be picking up noises, but it lasts only for a few moments after which there's nothing. Obviously, I've checked the micro on another PC and it works fine.
Just installed windows 10. Everything is working good but there's problem with the sound. Sound driver is installed too but there's no sound output. I have installed the audio driver like 10 times and tried different versions as well but no result
View 1 RepliesI have run into a weird problem after upgrading from a GTX 770 to an R9 390.For some reason, the audio on my left channel stopped working. I have tried re-installing my realtek drivers, using only the windows native audio drivers, and making sure that the AMD audio drivers have NOT been installed on my PC. All three yielded the same results. Also, my headphones work flawlessly when used on another device so the problem must be within my PC.
I have also checked to make sure that the audio levels were equal on both channels. I am not able to use the front audio ports on my case for testing because they also stopped working. Unfortunately, I am not sure if my front audio ports stopped working due to this same problem or if it had been broken for awhile.
My speaker icon is not responding and I really want to turn off the speakers! What can I do? Also when I try to watch a video, even with my speakers at 100% and the videos speakers are at 100%, I still don't get any audio.
View 3 RepliesI just upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7, I have a ASUS G75vw.
Well i guess to sum it up as soon as I updated the software my audio and video playback doesn't work anymore. For example iTunes tells me "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration, Audio/Video playback might not function" how to fix it?
My audio seems to not be working. I have never had this issue with this computer before until 2 days ago. I was able to roll back my system to an older date which fixed it for about a day. This time, however, it did not get the same results. My audio is just...well... gone. The sound (lower right corner in the task bar) says it is muted. When I click the icon it brings me straight to a troubleshoot, which we all know never actually fixes the problem.
The driver is installed and before I get asked if I have done the un-install and re-install, yes I have.I have un-installed and re-installed close to 6 times now. I have gone into the services and restarted (stop and start) the windows audio service close to 12 times.
Due to my audio working when I rolled back the system before, I assume my sound card is fine, but the software is not working properly (despite what the device manager says). I have also updated my system to windows 10 from windows 8.1, yet the issue remains.
After I upgraded to Win 10, Audacity came up with the error message, 'Internal PortAudio error' Or something like that, and the microphone won't work.
View 1 RepliesSo I've used Windows 10 for about 6 months now without any issues beyond a game or two not working, which usually have obvious solutions or unofficial patches. This one stumped me though.
Basically, all play buttons stop working randomly, as well as audio dropping out and sounding robotic, as if slowed down significantly, upon returning.
Some background, this issue began a few days ago, after my third monitor broke. I won't go into that, as it shouldn't matter, but after it broke and I unplugged it, the issues began to arise. I was attempting to edit something in Premiere Pro when I noticed it first. The preview window would not play, although the play icon would turn into a stop icon. I didn't think much of this, but decided to test something else by making a new project and putting some other footage in. This worked. I assumed that the issue was with my SD card, as the other footage was gameplay recorded directly from the PC, whereas the other footage was taken from my camera. I rebooted, and the issue was gone... for a bit. A little bit later, the same issue occurred. This time, however, no footage whatsoever would work. Even YouTube wouldn't work. The only software that could play video was VLC. I did have this issue before, I believe sometime in November. That time a reboot fixed the issue for months.
Later I began to notice other issues. Audio would drop out for a few seconds, no matter what was playing. Spotify, YouTube, Premiere, everything. Sometimes it would come back normally. I've checked my interface, and it appears to be fine (it's a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2). Sometimes audio comes back robotic, like it was slowed down by editing or by using the speed option in YouTube. I've never had this issue with Windows 7.
I've reset to a slightly earlier build of Windows, but it hasn't worked. Since I've had 10 for more than a month I cannot revert to 7 without a clean install, which I'm hoping not to do, mainly because a clean install would obviously be terrible since I'll have to reinstall everything, but also because I do like Windows 10, and have had no issues so far.
I recently installed Windows 10. But the drivers for my VIA soundchip which came with the motherboard don't work with it. I am able to install it but when I try to run HDVdeck it doesn't open. It did work in W8.1. Any fix?? Or can I disable front jack detection any other way??
View 1 RepliesSo I've just recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and for the most part I have no audio. A few seconds after I started windows 10 I was able to get very low quality audio for about 5 seconds and then it just stopped working. (using mpv with a FLAC file) The only place that the audio works is the realtek audio manager sound test. I've tested other headphones with the computer and they haven't worked either. I've also tested my headset with other devices and it works fine. I've updated windows and installed the latest realtek audio divers and nothing except for the the sound test works. (I'm using an MSI z87 GD65 btw)
View 1 RepliesI just bought a new PC and installed W10 (previously was using W7) and when i plugged my headphones to front jack i did not have any sound at all. I googled for some time to find a solution and found that i have to check "Disable front panel jack detection" and i got the sound, BUT the sound was only in one side. When i was testing in Realtek HD Audio Manager it also played sound only in one side.
Headphones work fine so it probably is Windows glitch.also tried to uninstall & reinstall drivers for Realtek HD Audio.
Where I work, the IT department made the mistake of purchasing computers with built-in speakers. We do not want the speakers to function at all, only any sound put through the headphone jack. After disabling the speakers, we found that YouTube no longer works, which is a problem.
That said, is there a way to permanently disable the speakers, leave the headset jack enabled and still allow YouTube to continue playing videos even if a headset is not plugged in?
Apparently my computer no longer recognizes my headphones - when I plug them in nothing happens, sound continues to come from the computer speakers but nothing from the headset. This was working fine until I upgraded to Win 10.
View 5 RepliesMy PC is the HP ENVY TouchSmart M7-J120DX with Beats Audio quad speakers and two subwoofers. After running a clean installation of Windows 10, my volume icon had an error "no audio device output" / IDT High Definition Audio Codec. The troubleshooting option did nothing. I uninstalled my audio device, and restarted my pc. My sound is back, but it seems that the middle speakers are the only ones working. My volume icon and sound device now is labeled "High Definition Audio Device" which now sounds substandard, just like those cheap tinny speakers you can find at the dollar store. How to recover my original great-sounding original speakers!
View 4 RepliesI installed windows 10 for my Asus laptop(which was running windows 8.1 pro and the mic worked perfectly) , and the microphone just doesn't work. I tried to install the latest win 10 drivers for Via, and that didn't work. Are there any fixes for this problem, or am I just out of luck?
