BIOS Startup Not Happening
Oct 15, 2015
Until I did a Windows 10 fresh install my PC was set in the BIOS (and still remains the same) set to startup the PC at a predetermined time everyday. ASROCK H77. And it did so daily until the Windows 10 Pro install. Did the update first to activate. Then fresh install. Like I said BIOS has not changed. Searched internet multiple ways with no resolve.

When running windows 7, for the first few seconds upon booting my laptop, it would display a startup message,
"Press ESC for boot selection, F2 for setup, etc......."
Now, nothing. I cannot choose to enter setup, BIOS, get to ESC for a boot selection screen in case I might want to boot from a flash drive or a floppy just once. How to get it back either.

I was having some issues on my Toshiba C655-S5505 laptop under WIN 7 so I updated to 10 and it did fix the wireless adapter issue I had, but now it does not start up unless I go into repair mode and either choose 7 Disable Driver Signatures or 8 Disable early launce anti-malware protection. It does not do it permanently and I cannot find where to turn these off. Once it is up it runs better than it ever did on 7, but who wants to do the repair every time? It also does not see the CD-ROM anymore, but I could live with that if it would just startup. I have spent more time on this one than any other machine I ever had to repair. If I had hair, I would put it out.

I was previously running Windows 7 with no issues but then upgraded to Windows 8 and later 8.1. With both of these versions I got random BSOD crashes every now and then. I upgraded to Windows 10 but so far I'm run into the same issues.
The BSOD messages are not always the same e.g. the last one i got was MEMORY_MANAGEMENT but other times I've gotten FAULTY_HARDWARE_CORRUPTED_PAGE, DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION etc.
I've been strongly suspecting a driver so I upgraded every single driver manually as well as using driver upgrade software but that hasn't worked. The last time I installed Windows 10 I made sure to only load minimal drivers and run it for about a month and in that time I didn't get any crash. As soon as I installed all the drivers for all my peripherals, this started happening again. I may be off here but that's my assumption.
In any case I've attached the log from the crash collector.

I have three entries (among others) that are slated to startup when I logon. Each of them are featured twice in the start up tab of program manager.
On checking with autoruns I found that they occurred twice in the registry under
HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
and
HKLMSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun 14-12-2015 02:23
Is this normal?
My laptop is running windows 10 64 bit.

I have entered BIOS many times but now I can not. Previously, tapping the delete key or F2 on start up would open BIOS. Now it will not I have tried many times. I have tried from restart as well as from shut down. I wish to change the boot order but am stymied.

When I try to upgrade to Windows, MS says my BIOS is not compatible. I have a Dell Inspiron N5110, purchased in 2011, with a BIOS Version String AO3. Preliminary comments several months ago were that Dell was not going to update that BIOS.

Just tried to install the latest W10 as a boot with W7 on SSD , installation failed and now will not complete installation. Will not reboot and reinstall, and prevents access to the BIOS to change boot to CD?Looking at disassembly to remove SSD data cable ( Lian Li Briefcase build complicates everything).

I've this issue since I did clean install of Windows 10. It simply don't let me in BIOS menu on tapping the DEL key now and simply continue booting Windows 10. And I could only access BIOS menu when I restart it. And if I again turn it off and then start it then again it simply boot and start Windows 10.
And another weird thing is- if I start my PC when it is off than it boot up too fast, without any issue but if I restart it than it takes more time and the monitor turn off and then on again, you may read more about it here.
PS- Maybe you don't need to know this but I did clean install via pendrive which I made using Refus using the bootable ISO.

I'm currently trying to upgrade my Windows 7 computer to Windows 10. My attempt at upgrading to Windows 10 fail time after time. That's when i remembered I didn't install the optional update KB3064209 .Unfortunately, the infamous "death loop" happens when I do install; this only happens for Pentium G3258 users which I happen to be one. So to fix this I found out Asrock, my motherboard is the Asrock B85 Anniversary, released a bios update that says it's for the "update microcode 19". This happens to be what KB3064209 is... a microcode update.
Link to new bios (it is the version 1.40): [URL] .....
The question is should I flash my bios for this situation? After all the warnings I've read about never flashing bios unless something is a catastrophe?

I currently own a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop with Windows 7 installed, but just received the last part to build my own desktop today! I'm looking to get Windows 10 on my new PC.I recently received the "Get Windows 10" button in the toolbar on my laptop, but when I click on it, it says I can't upgrade to Windows 10 because "the BIOS isn't supported".
However, I don't really want Windows 10 on my laptop; I'd much rather have it on my new desktop. So, my first question: is there a way that I can download a bootable Windows 10 file to my current laptop, transfer to a flash drive, and use that to install Windows 10 on my new PC right out of the box, all for free?
So my next question is: will buying and downloading the version of Windows 8.1 Pro in the above link work for my situation? That is, is it a full install in the sense that I will be able to make it a bootable file on my flash drive to install on my new PC? I believe I would have to download a Windows 8 ISO file to start.
My last question: is there an easier alternative to getting Windows 10 on my new PC, and if so, what is it? I think I can download Windows 10 here: URL... I'm not quite sure how that process would work either.

I recently switched over to Windows 10 and the first issue I had was my graphics driver becoming non compatible, but this was fixed when I flashed my BIOS for my computer to the most recent release.
Everything went smooth for a few weeks, but now I can't connect to the internet due to a common problem with Windows 10.
I want to go back to 8.1, but wanted to make sure my current BIOS wasn't going to crash on me ...
Does the BIOS will still support 8.1 ...

My problem is that I can't access UEFI Firmware settings or Boot from USB/DVD in the Advanced startup. They are missing. What can I do? I want to go back to windows 8.1 (Don't have windows.old folder), but it gives me an error when I install it when windows is running. That's why I want to boot from DVD, but I can't.

I was playing with disc partitions and i accidentally deleted something... The problem is, that when i start my computer, Windows boot manager error appears (with no options, nothing, just some text about how should i reinstall / repair...), but when i start my computer, i have no way to access BIOS (I know how to access bios in my pc, I was accessing it like 20 times during last few days while installing various OSs... always with F2).
So actually I am stuck in a loop: start pc - cant access bios - windows boot manager error- restart - cant access bios - win boot manager error - restart....
With windows, i had problems with accessing bios before, but it could be solved by some kind of "absolute shutdown" of a system - holding shift while clicking "Shut down" - then i could easily enter bios with F2 during start.

Have a Dell XPS 8300 which came with Win7 Home Premium. 10-12 days ago, finally got my system upgraded to Win10... but, after completing the password, all I get is a black screen.
FINALLY figured out it's because this motherboard came with an on-board VGA and delivered with an add-on VGA/HDMI board... It's truly annoying... but tapping Window-P (keys) gets me to where I can choose "which screen"... biggest rub being I'm doing it in the blind.
Soooo... I want to get into my PC's BIOS to disable the on-board video... at other times, I'd like to be able to change other BIOS stuff like Boot Sequence, etc. HOWEVER... Win10 seems to have disabled the keyboard (no F2, F12, etc) until Win10 takes control and intercepts. Googled and found several "fixes" but none work.
how I can boot this system... and get into it's BIOS... PREFERABLY directly at startup?
Also, why does SHUTDOWN NOT totally power this machine off?? Hate internal lights being on... keep seeing my Ethernet lights blink... and getting tired of pulling the cord?
