View 3 RepliesI've had some issues with a BSOD for over a year now, first when I was running Windows 8 and now still with Windows 10. It first appeared after I got a USB wi-fi adapter which I replaced with an adapter that connected to the motherboard, but the BSODs have not stopped.
I inquired about it a few months ago on several other forums. It was apparently related to some driver that the USB adapter installed (the name of which I can no longer remember), but I was unable to uninstall it or delete it without my wi-fi becoming unusable. I'm also unable to use a wired connection in my apartment, though I'm not sure that would even be possible if I deleted the driver. The error code I get is "bad_pool_caller", but I believe I used to get "irql_not_less_or_equal" as well.
For some background, the BSOD usually appears when I'm doing something intensive over the internet like watching video on YouTube or Twitch, streaming audio, etc.
Here's my debug folder: COLIN-PC-Wed_09_02_2015_214036_86.zip
I've just built my new computer however am getting heaps of BSOD saying bad pool caller. I've downloaded blue screen view and here is what comes up.

My computer is
i7 5820k
Noctua nh d15
Asus x99 pro
kingston hyper x fury 4 x 4gb 2133
samsung 850 evo ssd 250gb x 2
wd caviar blue 1tb x 2
Gigabyte geforce gtx 960 4gb
corsair rm850i
I followed the instructions and uninstalled Kapersky Antivirus. Still getting the Bad Pool Called Blue Screen now and again. Also finding I can not turn on my windows defender it just keeps turning it self back off again instantly. I have uploaded the dmp files.
View 3 RepliesI'm having for a while a BSOD Bad pool caller. All the drivers and software in my OS are up to date. I don't think it's a memory problem, the Windows Memory Diagnostic gave me no errors, I also tried the SFC /SCANNOW to try fixing the file systems, and also chkdsk /r to check and the disk integrity, but everything seems cool. I did all types of virus/malware scans with mcafee and malwarebytes, my system still seems clean.
I'm using a ACER Aspire E5 - 511 - P29D: Intel Pentium quad core processor N3540.
It doesn't happen at a particular moment, I can be browsing on the Internet or watching a movie. And it's not frequent, it happens every 3 or 4 days. It started 6, 7 weeks ago, after I did a upgrade to Windows 10. I haven't made any change to my computer yet.
I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 10 (just a few days ago), and last night, after a short gaming session on the laptop, it blue-screened with the error being indicated as being: Bad_Pool_Caller. I was just wondering how I should proceed from this point on to make sure the laptop remains functional and everything works smoothly.
View 1 RepliesLaptop: HP-Pavilion Dv6-6c40ca
OS: Windows 10 (free upgrade)
Wireless adapter: Broadcom 802.11n (BCM9413HMGB)
I did the free upgrade from Windows 7 to windows 10 three weeks ago. It was a clean wipe/install and everything worked fine. I had working WiFi for three weeks.
Then I noticed windows updating itself when I powered-off the other night. The next morning my wifi was knocked out. Thew wifi symbol is still there, it just has a red circle with an x in it now. It doesn't show any networks. My other devices can 'see' over a dozen networks and can connect to my home network without issue.
Things tried:
-Uninstall/reinstall driver and restart
-"Roll Back Driver" and restart
-Download and install the latest driver from HP and restart
-Tried this solution to a tangentically related problem (that of people losing their WiFi directly after upgrading to windows 10)
Thoughts:
-the driver is very old (2012). the one from HP was uploaded in 2015 but when I click on the info I see it is issued in 2012
-Attempts to find the driver directly from Broadcom result here but these are all for Linux.. I am sure that Broadcom has windows drivers too, but how to find them?
(not sure how to link directly to image hosted on Google Drive. So this link is to a ss of my wireless adapters driver page in device manager) [URL]....
Since upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7, my computer would crash once a day with a bad pool header notification. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue, and am coming here as a last resort. Below is my DM Log Collector zip.
View 1 RepliesI started getting some BSOD errors after updating to Windows 10 from 8.1. Windows 10 updated a couple months ago, and since that update I get bad pool header crashes multiple times a day. I used the DM log collector and attached the file.
View 3 RepliesEvery since I upgraded to windows 10 and boot my desktop machine I get a BSOD with Bad Pool header. It keeps looping and rebooting with the same error. The only way around it is to go into the bios and save changes and then it allows me to log in. I have disabled fast reboot and still no joy. Attached is a log file with all the relevant info
View 3 RepliesUpgraded a stable Win7 laptop to windows 10 and started getting Bad Pool Header BSODs. Some I cleared ( It used to happen immediately when connecting the network cable).
It happens a short time after I connect with the regular windows VPN to our office.
Attached is the dump files...
Updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two weeks ago.
Had problems with Firefox. Tried to download to replace existing Firefox. CNET site appeared to be correct but something seemed wrong so I killed the download. But.
- The windows start menu doesn't come up when I click on the icon, but if I right-click, a text menu does appear and lets me, for example, shut down.
.- If I click on the Windows End icon in the task bar, the screen flashes but End does not come up. Ditto for the Windows Store icon.
- Somewhere SpyBot S&D was erased, but I was able to download it.
- If I double-click on a photo in Windows Explorer, I get a popup that lists the name of the jpeg and says Invalid Entry to Registry. If I right click on the photo and go to any of the options the photo is opened except if I choose Photo.
- Firefox cannot properly display the Yahoo mail page, though Pale Moon and Opera can.
- I have Avast Anti-Virus and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and when I run their scans, they find no issues.
After I upgraded to Windows 10 I have been getting BSODs at when either watching videos in VLC or playing mainly World of Warcraft. The primary BSOD I have been getting is the bad_pool_header which first occurred a week after upgrading and was seemingly a random occurrence. Subsequent BSODs would occur at least every other day, if not longer apart, and I didn't think much of it. However, I experienced two bad_pool_header errors today within 4 hours of each other, both while watching videos in VLC with some web browsing so I am believing that it is a more serious error than random crashes.
View 1 RepliesI just got Windows 10 today and when I did my own stuff, I get Bad Pool Header error messages. It has happened every time when plugging in game controller or accessing internet.
Is my computer not compatible with Windows 10? Or is it something else?
creating the zip file but the dmp files weren't in there when I followed the instructions so i have managed to make copies instead hopefully this still works.
Problem started a few weeks back out of nowhere , had a few watchdog failures but they have stopped now, I have uninstalled most programs which may of being causing it but still having no luck.
Running updated Windows Ten, etc its the Lenovo Flex 2 pro laptop.
My problem is very similar to one described by tomzino earlier this month in this forum. Since upgrading from windows 7 home premium to windows 10, my computer gets a BSOD and reboots daily; so far in November it has crashed 20 times. The only days it didn't, the system was powered down. The error message is the 'bad pool header' . Oddly, 85% of the BSODs have occurred between 12:12pm and 12:43pm EST. I ran the DM Log collector to gather the information from the last two crashes for diagnosis.
View 7 RepliesMy wifi printer Epson sx 235 has stopped working since windows 10 was installed.
View 1 RepliesSo i installed windows 10 and i tried uninstalling, checking for updates and did everything i possibly could.. I have to use ethernet, which im suing atm. Would i have to buy a wifi adapter?
View 1 RepliesI've just installed Wiondows 10 Insider Preview Build 14279 and I've noticed a problem.
It's unable to save my WiFi password, I need to write it again every time I turn on Windows, even if I check the option "connect automatically".
How can I solve this problem? It was working well before, with my "regular" Windows 10 ....
I've been trying to make a PE image and it is working fine. I can add programs (Macrium, PaleMoon, Explorer++) and it works fine in VM (through virtual Ethernet). It also works booting it from USB.
What I can't do is make WiFi work when booting from USB. I need this as I don't have Ethernet at all on my laptop.
I've tried adding the various drivers but can't get it to work.
This is what I have done so far for WiFi:
Code:
# Add any device drivers (.inf files) - this folder contains BroadcomWirelessWin8x64
Dism /Add-Driver /Image:"$WorkDirmount" /Driver:"$HomeDirDrivers" /recurse
# For Wifi - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162453-winpe-40-enable-wireless-support/
Dism /Add-Driver /Image:"$WorkDirmount" /Driver:"$env:SystemRootInf
etnwifi.inf"
Dism /Add-Driver /Image:"$WorkDirmount" /Driver:"$env:SystemRootInf

Just did a clean install on 10 and was researching another problem that required the run box but mine doesn't seem to work.
I get a response that 'it didn't open in a timely manner'.
Sky Go App doesn't work in W10, I have tried different Silverlight settings to no avail!
View 9 RepliesHaving problems with Internet connectivity in windows 10 while having eset nod32 9 installed?I did the latest update to windows 10, and now my Internet doesn't work. I get an error while trying to repair of "windows sockets registry entries required for Internet connectivity are missing". I un-install eset, Internet comes back immediately.
This is a common problem, but people don't seem to be connecting it with their virus scanner. Installing free avast makes the computer go directly into repair mode and won't even boot. Windows 10 seems to not like virus scanners. It is a fresh build, OEM windows 10 home, tried to reinstall the system twice with the same results.
Windows 10 went wrong Again! First I lost all my favorites, then my Computer experienced exceptions (what ever they are?) followed by random Crashes.
So I did a clean install using my ISO disc and tried to Install Page Plus X4 which was working fine before but it won't work now, even though I installed the latest patch.
I get told its an incompatible Programme, even though it worked OK before I did a clean install, with a note that says that Microsoft are looking for a Solution (you could have fooled me!) also I did the bit about using the Settings that worked on a Previous Programme but that didn't fix it either.
Also uninstalled and re installed the Programme but that didn't work either as did installing net framework.
Also when I get new emails, I am no longer getting advised of any new emails, so I have to keep checking my email box myself.
I looks like I may have to do yet another Clean Install.
I've tried turning off the Automatic Updates but that doesn't seem to work (maybe I'm doing it wrong, so how do I do that).
I know some people have had issues with the screensaver not working. In my case all the screensavers work, except the one I want -pictures. I have always used pictures as a screensaver with other windows os with no problem.
What happens is I can see the pictures scrolling in the mini monitor it shows you, but when I hit preview or when it goes into action, the screen goes black. I have tried using different folders in different drives and using different pictures, but still nothing but black.
I have the "Search the web and Windows" bar in my taskbar but I can't type anything into it. If I go to "File Explorer" in the start panel, I can search for files.
This worked in the past and I don't know what might have happened to make it stop working.
