BSOD :: Computer Randomly Restarts While Doing Tasks
Aug 28, 2015
I have an ASUS Desktop PC M11AD Series computer with an Intel core i5. I am running windows 10 Home on my computer and ever since I got Windows 10, It has been randomly restarting. It will restart while doing simple tasks, like using Google Chrome, or using Skype. I have tried to monitor what apps cause the restarts, but it is extremely random. I upgraded my computer 2-3 weeks ago, and it is starting to get on my nerves. I have switched my browser to Microsoft Edge and it has been working fine.
When this occurs, my computer will freeze for about 5-10 seconds, and then it will to a regular restart. Sometimes when it boots back up it says "Windows is updating" and sometimes nothing. I have disabled auto updates on my computer and I just can't seem to find the problem. Sometimes it will freeze in chunks like 3 seconds, it works for 1 second and then 4 seconds and then restarts. My friend also has Windows 10, but his doesn't restart. I can't find out what build I'm on, and I upgraded when Windows said I could upgrade.

So I'm a programmer. Sometimes I take breaks, go to my couch and watch TV for about an hour. However, I still have documents open on my computer. My monitors turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Randomly, I will see my monitors turn on and a blue screen on my computer saying something along the lines of "Getting your computer ready". Then the computer restarts. This happens at various times, I've seen it happen at 1:04am, 4:38pm and 10:15pm. The timing seems completely random and its a major issue because it closes all my documents.

It's not a malware , it's not a heat problem . I checked them both and formatted my computer 4 times already, I am pretty tired . The last options remain is a windows 10 problem /hardware is not connected well? . My windows 10 is not a legal copy .
My computer suddenly completely restarts suddenly, even when IDLE .No warning involved , goes straight to black screen .

Yesterday (12/7/15) I got on steam to play some games with a friend and about 5 seconds into starting CS:GO my computer screen turns black, and it restarts, with no error/crash message.
Earlier today I got fed up with this so I decided to wipe my computer and do a clean install of Win.10 but the problem still persists. I mean the computer runs really quickly now, but the second I play any game, or compress anything it crashes, and restarts.
How can I stop/fix this issue?

my computer has been blue screening recently when I'm not even touching the computer. So I decided to check my memory with memtest86+ and it popped up with a lot of errors. So I went into the BIOS and set my CPU overclock back to stock and it stopped blue screening. But what I don't get is how my CPU overclock is affecting my memory. So I have attached my minidumps just to see if there is anything else I could do.

I recently replaced the mobo and the CPU on this system. I am getting BSOD and/or the computer randomly freeze or restart on its own. I did run the computer in safe mode for a whole day and did not have any of the aforementioned issues.

I recently built my PC straight from the build guide by Austin Evans on YouTube called the 'Neutron 2.0'. I got Windows 10 installed on my PC and it has been working poorly. Whenever I play a game downloaded from Steam, the entire computer will crash at random times, freezing and forcing me to restart the entire computer.
When I go to turn the computer back on it will repeatedly turn on and back off within a second. It will go through this cycle until I have to power down again.

For some backstory: I built this computer in late Feb of 2015. Over the last 5/7 months (two of which - July and August - I wasn't around to use it) and have had several issues with it since
Early March - Random BSOD relation to Shadowcopy files (reinstalled OS, issue ceisted)
Early September - Several random BSOD due to GPU drivers (uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers in Safe Mode - doing so in regular boot mode caused a BSOD - fixed this)
Late September - Single, random BSOD again. However, the computer could not get past the Windows Repair Environment (reinstalled the OS, issue ceisted)
Now - random freezing every few days to as often as once every few hours. This is my current issue. These freezes will occur suddenly and with no warning. One second I'll be watching a video, browsing, or playing a game then the next I'll be stuck. Any audio will loop constantly and the screen will be stuck at the last "frame". I've left it for as long as 30 minutes and it will not crash or bluescreen. The only option is to simply hold the Power button.
The event viewer will not have any error or warnings at the time of the freeze but will only have the error regarding the computer shutdown being forced at the time I hold the Power button. I was suggested to check for temps (all were normal) and perform a clean install of Windows 10 (I had upgraded from Windows 7). I had another hard freeze today similar to the ones I was having before. The issue is back and I'm unsure of what to do next. Is this no longer a software issue if reinstalling the OS was unsuccessful?

my cpu is running at nearly 100% usage while playing video games for example the one i play is blade and soul. It gets really hot from times to times and the game just stops. But recently the pc started shutting down randomly. It couldn't start properly and sometimes the blue screen of death was involved. I resetted it thus reinstalling it and while i was downloading blade and soul it restarted again at that moment the cpu was on 30% usage and the disk 100%usage. The specs are:
CPU- AMD FX-4130
Motherboard- 760gma-p34 (fx)
GPU- gigabite GeForce gtx 750 ti

Didn't have this problem until upgrading from Windows 7 Pro. Not sure if it is related to the upgrade. I can shut down but sometimes will immediately restart and other times will restart after some time. I have used device manager to disable any hardware option to wake my computer. No yellow exclamation icons in device manager. Otherwise computer runs fine.I hate to have to unplug my computer everytime I shut down.

I have recently built my very first computer, and for a few months the computer worked fine and everything but one day my computer didin't power down and i had to force it and since then this happens i try to shut down the computer it starts to turn off and for a brief second the LED on my front fan turned off, then the computer rebooted. . I have been pushing the switch on my power supply to turn off my system,, it also happens that i some times lose time and date for some reason.
I had this problem with this build in windows 7 and then I changed it to windows 10 but it also happens in windows 10
My build is asus motherboard Z97-P i have a intel I5 4460 a XFX XTR full modular 550W or 650W not sure and a nvidia gtx 970 .. I tried to reset my BIOS settings and the problem stayed unsolved... This problem is really annoying and also prevents my computer from installing updates...

After upgrading to Windows 10, my computer now restarts after I have left it idle for more than about an hour. I havent caught it in the act so I don't know exactly what it does when it restarts. I changed the update settings to notify me before restart so that shouldn't be the issue in this case.

Windows 10 kept wanting to restart after it has been shutdown. The computer would have its power indicator turned off for maybe 2 seconds, then you hear the fan whirling and the BIOS screen appears followed by the usual boot process.
I don't know how this would work, but my problem was solved by turning off in my BIOS setup 'Legacy USB Support'. Now if I shutdown Windows 10, it would really shut itself down. No problem so far after maybe 10 or so instances.

I tried to install Windows 10. At first, it worked! I was all happy, so went on to login. Once I logged into my microsoft account, I was greeted by a blackscreen where I could move my mouse around. so, I rebooted, shift+clicked Restart, and got to the troubleshoot menu. From there, I clicked on "Reset My PC," since it appeared to be the only solution. It rebooted my computer, and suddenly it said something like "Windows restarted or shut down unexpectedly. Please press OK to continue the installation." I clicked OK, and it just rebooted and said the same thing, so I looked up a tutorial, which said to change something's value in regedit from 1 to 3. This sure made the "Windows restarted unexpectedly" go away, but now it just restarts repeatedly, as if it DID pop up, and I pressed OK. I tried multiple things, and I really don't want to send my PC to a repair.

After Windows 10's failed attempt to reset, it asked me what I want to do next, try to reset again or return to Windows. I gave up and "returned to Windows" only to discover that Windows is gone and I can only get to BIOS (which I can enter). After the BIOS screen comes a black screen and it appears that the system tries to write something but can't, and only shows underlines, and restarts (but the power remains ON, it doesn't shut down completely).

So yesterday I installed Windows 10 on my computer via Windows update. (First went here Home page - Windows Insider Program and followed the steps) It installed normally, after it was done I got the login screen.
I typed my password and pressed "next" but my computer just froze and restarted and kept doing it.
I re-installed Windows 7 today, will probably try Windows 10 later, but not currently.

I am running Windows 10 x64, my computer shuts off for what ever reason, power outage or what not. No error message and when it reboots i have no icons on my desktop. I have checked to see if a new desktop was created and that wasn't it. Normally it is off a restart/shut down of my PC but it does not happen all the time. I have check to see if "view icons" is turned on and it is. I have also checked to see if the show icons in control panel is checked and that is as well. I have also restarted my computer manually to see if it will fix itself and that does not work either.

Over the past 2 days I have experienced 4 (2 each day) shut downs and reboots. All while the PC has been idle for sometime while I'm working on another PC in the same room. Event log screen is attached but the bug check tab has no values.
The system is on a UPS and there have been no hardware changes in several months. I'm on Build 1150, V10586.11.
Attached is the dump of the log files as well.

My laptop keeps freezing randomly, and seconds later it restarts itself. I'm pretty sure this problem started when i upgraded to windows 10. It use to happen every once in awhile but now it happens several times a day while i am on a browser or doing anything on the computer. I barely have anything installed on it and its fairly new, i bought it earlier this year. I did a scan with AVG and nothing showed up. It doesn't heat up either. I also updated windows 10 to its latest version and also updated the AMD drivers as well. Should i try to reinstall windows 10?
This is the laptop i have: ASUS Laptop R510DP-WH11 AMD A10-Series A10-5750M (2.50 GHz) 8 GB Memory 1 TB HDD AMD Radeon HD 8670M 15.6" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

After upgrading to windows 10, I was able to use it. But, when I tried turning my computer back on the next day, it would restart after the Dell loading screen would go away. It will go through this reboot cycle and never end. Ive tried pulling up the advanced boot options but it never works. The only things I can boot up are the regular boot options and the start up options. When going into the boot options I ran the scan that you can do (I forgot what it was called) and it said that everything was fine, that there were no problems. Im unsure as to why this problem started, or, how to fix it.

I would get a black screen for a few moments, before the computer just restarts. No BSOD, no screen tearing or strange noises from the case, no indication whatsoever that it was about to restart. So I started trying to figure out what was wrong. Using Bluescreenviewer and WhoCrashed? I found out that it was a 0x124 error citing the ntoskrnl at fault. Reading online, it seemed that this was generally caused by either a thermal issue, hardware problem or in some cases driver problems.
I started updating everything I could. Graphics drivers, mouse drivers, keyboard drivers, BIOS drivers, etc. Still got the restarts. They seemed to be appearing only when I was playing games (don't use this particular PC for much else, so took a while to realize), so I decided to check thermal issues. Using MSI Afterburner and CPU-Z, I found that my CPU was never reaching any significant heat (my Hyper 212 EVO keeps it under or around 40C even under heavy load), and that while my graphics card got hot, it never went beyond 70, so it didn't seem to be a thermal issue there.I ran memtest86 to try to identify ram issues, and it came back, after a night of running, clean. I did a dskcheck /r, and while it took a bit of time, it too came back alright. In order to truly rule out driver issues, i reinstalled windows 10, and still it kept happening.
I read online that there was a chance that the power supply could be acting up. Since I had been meaning to update my graphics card, and needed a new power supply to go with it, I decided to do that. I plugged in my new PSU, and my new GPU, and it went fine for about a day or two before the restarting resumed. I tried playing with the case side open, to truly rule out cooling issues, and it still restarted. I moved the computer, and plugged it straight into the wall because I had a suspicion that maybe the extra cable wasn't giving it enough juice, but it still restarted.
I'm now at my wits end. I've tried everything I can think of. My new GPU never goes to high temps, my CPU seems to be running fine, I haven't found any ram memory problems, my new PSU can't be to blame, and so I don't know whats left.
Tl;dr
Restarts started after some inactive time. Seems to be a 0x124 bsod error
Tried the following:
-update all drivers
-update BIOS
-re-roll to previous versions of graphics drivers
-re-install windows 10
-purchase new PSU and GPU
-memtest86 came back ok
-dskcheck /r came back ok
-tried playing with side off
MSI never shows the CPU or GPU going into any dangerous territory in terms of temps.

Recently my PC has been restarting after around an hour, when playing any graphically intensive games.-It has never crashed when just using the internet, idle etc. Only when playing games has it happened.-I have tested the RAM, CPU, GPU using benchmarking and HDD is an SSD.-I have tried a clean install of Windows 10.-My OS and drivers are up to date.-I also monitored my temps when in game and they are running normal when the crash happens. The system will hang for a few seconds and my headphones give off a loud buzzing. The PC will then restart after a few seconds but none of the fan or component lights go off like it is losing power.
