BSOD :: Crashes And Reboots Two To Three Times A Day
Sep 19, 2015
First off my windows 10 install worked fine for about a month and then all of a sudden I have been experiencing 2 to 3 ramdom crashes and reboots. There is no BSOD, the computer just simply turns off and reboots, even though I have set the advanced settings not to automatically shut down on error. I have also updated to the latest BIOS ....
My system - self build.
Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard
4 sticks of Corsiar dominator RAM running at 2133 (they are specified up to 2666)
default BIOS settings - no overclocking
2*EVGA Geforce 980s in SLI
I have disconnected all usb devices but this is still happening. What is strange that it just started out of the blue. Before i just do a fresh install, any diagnostic approaches?

I'm experiencing a strange problem on my secondary desktop (the crappy Alienware). Randomly, the machine restarts within a mere 5 minutes of it running.
It also restarts just sitting on the login screen, so it doesn't only happen when someone is logged in. It, of course, doesn't do this in Safe Mode.

My Laptop has an ongoing problem (about a month now) persistent through several windows updates. The taskbar will sometimes, with no clear trigger or cause, start to rapidly flash between all my open windows, eventually when I click anywhere on the taskbar I am prompted with a not responding windows and the only option is to end the "microsoft windows" process. All the taskbar icons then disappear and seem to reload over approx 10 seconds, once this is complete, all the same windows are open, its as if nothing has happened?Needless to say this is seriously irritating, and gets me raging so my productivity hits rock bottom,

I am running Windows 10 (64-bit), but this problem also occurred on 8.1 and 7 (both 64-bit) with clean installations. I am also dual booting Ubuntu Studio 15.04, but more on that later.
When I boot my PC into 10, I have up to ten minutes before my PC either resets forcefully by itself, or freezes and never recovers. When I check the Minidump folder afterwards nothing is there.
I have replaced both my CPU (amd fx-6300) and PSU (corsair cx500m), and tested my RAM (with both sticks or just one), but none of that has fixed the problem.
My BIOS settings are at their defaults, no over/underclocking or over/undervolting at all.
The odd thing is, Ubuntu Studio runs fine with no crashes as far as I can see *EDIT: NOT THE CASE* , but if there was a software problem surely there would be a dump file?

Since I installed windows 10 sometimes my computer just automatically reboots, no warning, no notifications, after it reboots it goes back to working fine but I have checked everything I can think of and can not find out why it is doing this, and it is very aggravating if I am online playing games

I was getting a random reboot about once every 36 hours, this is the 1st time I got a BSOD before rebooting
All I was doing when the BSOD hit was listening to music using Spotify
I've replaced the power supply and reinstalled windows. I also ran Memtest86+ no issues reported

I have been fighting with my computer for about four weeks now, and I am not getting anywhere. In a nutshell, my computer started to randomly shut down and seldom reboot. There are no specific patterns I notice, except that when I try to find out what's going on the random reboots/shut downs happen more frequently (3-5 time per hour). When I just use the computer, it lasts longer without any issues. I may get between 1-4 hours. No BSOD and no error.
Now when the computer shuts down, it is a hard shut down. It is as if I turned off the power button from the PSU itself and turned it back because when I turn the computer back on, it turns on briefly and shuts down again, turns on again, beeps the all things okay beep, and boots to window. It is worth noting that this behavior started happening without adding any new hardware, software, or driver.
Here's what I have done so far to try to ameliorate/diagnose the issue.
1) I reset the PC - Here's my post on that issue if you want to take a look.
2) I did a clean install - (truly clean install).
3) I boot into the Bios, and it stills reboot/shut down (this causes me to suspect a hardware issue, but what?).
4) I open the case and ensure that everything is properly seated on the MOBO.
5) I cleaned out the PC of dust
6) My temperatures are normal, no overheating going on.
7) I ran ad-ware/spyware check - nothing has been found.
8) I ran a virus check (yes, with windows defender) - nothing came up. I don't think it's a virus since the problem continues even after a clean install.
9) It's not a lack of power issue. My PSU is 1000W and I am not using that much power.
10) I did a stress test for over an hour, and everything was normal (this causes me to doubt it is a hardware problem).
11) I am sure I have done more than the before mentioned steps, but I can't remember them all.
At this point, I suspect my issue might be hardware related; however, I really do not know what this could be, and I do not want to start buying new hardwares (i.e. PSU) without knowing what the issue really is, particularly when it endured a stress test without any issues. I thought of applying a thermal paste/grease on the CPU, but since I am not overheating I don't think that's necessary. So, I am at a lost on what my next steps should be. I am not savvy enough on reading memory dumps files... my computer is not generating any of those files anyway. But I know I can force my computer to generate them.

It was turned on, idling. After the first BSOD, the PC restarted and within 3 min another BSOD.I ran Memtest and Prime95, and played GTA 5 without any failures.

I've experienced multiple BSOD's in a while now. It occurs several times every day. I thought it was an issue with my graphics card, since it often occured using Adobe Illustrator and other GPU needing applications. Today I replaced my graphics card and I got a BSOD a few minutes later.
I've attached the BSOD file.

Have had home builds for years with no big issues before windows 8.1 and now windows 10. I thought i had issues with memory or graphic card on my previous computer so i ended up buying new parts for a new build.
But nothing changed. Not so frequent as before but up to several times a day my computers gets an BSOD. I must say it is random for me what i am doing while this happens.
Different messages before restarting. The 2 last one while trying to create this thread and making the dump zip file was Kernel check failure and DPC watchdog violation.

As you could see the file which cause the bug is not very current (appid.sys), so i think it's not the real culprit... Of course i've tested memory, ssd, virus, before post here. I've also bought who crashed pro for analyse the dump and installed windbg but for the first, no essential information and for the second i don't have all knowledge for exploiting this tool throughly... I recently managed to get a cryptowall/cryptolocker virus. I wiped everything, formatted c: and reinstalled windows 7 home premium. Was getting constant, seemingly random BSODs 10+ times daily. Tried a bunch of things, didn't work, so recently upgraded to windows 10. The BSOD's are a lot rarer but still occur at annoying times.
I've had the PC for nearly 3 years now. Prior to the reinstalls there was never 1 BSOD and the machine would stay stable for weeks on end without a restart or issue.

Using as an IT support/general office machine. Get BSOD 4-6 times daily.
As yet to determine what is causing. Have been removing software after each BSOD.
Win 10 Pro on Dell OptiPlex 380. Upgraded to 8gb mem and SSD.

So, new computer, was using Windows 7 and getting BSODs constantly. So I decided to make a clean install with Windows 10 and thought the issue was resolved, clearly not the case.
I will be uploading the last mini dump, but let me already tell you that more than one error code happened (more than one BSOD).
I used the forum's guide to collect the mini dump information. The dump archives I got from the Windows folder are huge, I guess we are not going to use that, am I right?
I am suspecting it to be some Hard Disk issue or RAM memory. One of the messages I could capture was "Kmode_Exception_Not_Handled".

I got multiple times BSOD with info Kernel Security Check Failure. I work on laptop with additional usb mouse, usb keyboard, usb cooling pad and second display. I noticed that if I have connected my second display than Windows fall in random time (often after waking up). I saw into records in Event Viewer and there are pack of critical events and all about Kernel-Power (Event ID 41). After disconnected second display it seems to be ok. Second display is LG Flatron L1972H. What can I do with it.

After upgrading to Windows 10 I've gotten blue screen'd at random times. At first I kept getting them whenever I would plug in my laptop to an outlet, or close it, unplug it, open it back up. One other time I was using my laptop and the power just cut out. No blue screen or anything, just cut to black.
Each time it seems to be Kernel Security Check Failure, I think there may have been one more but I'm honestly not sure. another happens when my computer is on but not plugged in, it gives me Attempted Switch From DPC when I plug the charger in (just happened).
The most recent one (today, right before posting this) I had Android Studio downloading the android SDK, Firefox browsing the internet, and a few other programs doing nothing right before I again got a blue screen with Kernel Security Check Failure. My laptop is plugged in and has been for a while, and I'm tired of these crashes.
Currently I am considering going back to Windows 8.1 just to have some much needed stability.

I'm having a lot of issues with a system I recently assembled. Apps like Word, Outlook and Firefox are randomly crashing, BSODs from time to time, and the PC sometimes crashes directly after sleep-mode.
I've tried the following:
-clean install
-updating bios
-replacing mobo
-replacing psu
-ran memtest; no errors
-removed nvidia card, just onboard graphics; no difference

Since some weeks I am having problems with the Wifi connection of my laptop. My laptop is an Acer Aspire E-15. I have been working with windows 10 for some months and I didn't have any problems. Since some weeks it can't find any WiFi network, and when I plug-in an ethernet cable everything works fine. Also, I have the newest drivers installed. My network adapter is Qualcomm Atheros AR956X
When I restart my PC or do a system restore, everything seems to work fine, until the same problem occurs again. It happens very randomly, for example I didn't have the problem for more than a week, but yesterday I had it all the time. In addition to that, sometimes when I lose the connection my PC crashes. I don't know if these two issues could be related to each other.

I have bsods and game crashes of steam. I putted a new ram because the previous ram kit died (faulty rams causing bsods)and also I have a new graphic card r9 280 (because the previous gtx480 died too). What can I do? Bumps are not specific. I believed that sound driver causing problems and I disabled sound controller from bios and uninstalled the drivers. Unfortunately bsods don't stop. I have checked for drivers , updates, memtest but nothing. I noted that bsods and crashes happen in the first boot. If I have a bsod or I reboot after a game crash then BSODS and crashes stop to happen.
