BSOD :: Critical Process Died 4 - 6 Times Daily
Nov 4, 2015
Using as an IT support/general office machine. Get BSOD 4-6 times daily.
As yet to determine what is causing. Have been removing software after each BSOD.
Win 10 Pro on Dell OptiPlex 380. Upgraded to 8gb mem and SSD.
Logs attached.

I upgraded my OS to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 some months ago. After some weeks I started to have "Critical Process Died" error very often. I couldn't figure out why. I've attached the relevant *.dmp files.

Firstly, I can't generate the dumpfile as I can't access windows at all. I can't access it through any boot options including safe mode.
I've recently upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 through the microsoft updater.
The only major thing I did before this happened was installing the AMD CCC and rebooting, which caused this loop. I actually reinstalled it as switchable graphics wasn't working.
Things I've tried - 1. Automatic Repair - doesn't work. txt file in srt folder says the OS version is not compatible even if I use the Windows 10 usb.
2. chkdsk /f /r - it fixed a bunch of things, there seemed to be a lot of problems but now it says that there is no problems and no further action is required.
3. Fixing and rewriting bcd files - This was the interesting part because my computer some how changed the C: to D: and created a new C:. I've reassigned it so that original C: is renamed back to C: and removed the new C: partition which only had the boot files in it and reformed all the bcd files in original C:
4. I can't run sfc /scanow. It doesn't work with any commands I found over the internet.
5. Other things I found were that if I tried to reset the computer while keeping the files, it doesn't allow me to do it. Also, I found out that some of my drivers were missing by using devcon - graphics (both integrated intel, dedicated radeon m6740) some sound cards, single usb driver. Also when I installed thne integrated intel graphics driver through pnputil, when I restart the computer, the driver disappears and comes up with code 28 again.
I don't mind doing a fresh install but only if I am able to access my current hd files and create a backup, which hopefully should be possible because I can access the files through cmd prompt in WindowsRE.

I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 from 8.1. After around a week of using Windows 10, each time I turned on my computer, I get a blue screen saying that the computer will restart. Like in the following picture.
Once it restarts, I can a log in and everything is fine. Except for one thing. When I open task manager, it says that my disk is filled at 100%, and the main program that is causing this is called "system".
I tried to increase the virtual memory, as seen in the next picture (I have 8GB of RAM by the way)
But that still does not seem to work. I downloaded seatools and it says that it is not a disk failure. Is there a possible correlation between the Critical_Process_Died startup page and the 100% disk usage?

Several times since Windows 10 has been updated (see attached file) I have received a "Critical_process_died" notification. Sometimes at startup & at least one time during normal browsing. Have talked with a local computer shop about various problems & he suggested a clean install. Attached is the dump file per your instructions.

For the past week or so I've been getting intermittent CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED blue screens. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary and they seemed to just start popping up out of nowhere.
A couple things of note. After they started happening I tried creating new installation media for windows to try to repair windows if that was the issue. Every time I tried running the Media Creation Tool from MS it would crash before doing anything.
I ended up getting it on another computer and ran through repairing windows, but that didn't fix the issue.
Also, the crashes seem to not write the memory dump file, even though it's set up to do a complete memory dump.
If I can't sort it out I'll do a complete reinstall of windows, but I'd prefer avoiding that if possible, though it's not the end of the world.

Recently while using the internet my computer experienced a BSOD which listed the Critical Process Died as the error. Before this happened my computer kept popping up with a message I believe was saying that the display adapter driver crashed and then was recovered. It should also be mentioned that I recently upgraded my system with a new graphics card, after my old one died, and with a new case. That was my first time ever doing something like that, so I wouldn't be surprised if that could be a problem.

We've had our share of BSOD's in the company, most of them were solved by installing the newest drivers from the support site. There are still some laptops however, that get frequent BSOD's (4 a day on average).
The laptop is a Dell E5550, newest drivers & bios update. I've run the command sfc /scannow; after the scan was completed, it showed that there were errors but none could be fixed. I copied the log...
Also I don't know if I can run the dism / restorehealth command, because we have our own image on the laptops, and I if I understand correctly this replaces the current image with a default Windows image? Or does it only extract the files needed to repair?

I've been having problems recently with my laptop (Samsung 7 series) freezing. I then get a pop up saying "windows has stopped working", and it either unfreeze after a few minutes or I need to force close it.
This happened again yesterday, and wouldn't unfreeze so I force turned it off. Upon restarting, I got a BSOD with the message "critical_process_died", and the laptop restarted itself, only to BSOD again. Now when I turn it on it goes straight into disk repair for C:, saying it is scanning for and repairing errors. However, even after running overnight it never progressed beyond 9% on this, and now I cannot exit the loop without force closing the laptop - but when I reboot it goes straight back into disk checking.
A recent AVG scan was clean, and I cannot recall an update that happened yesterday. Unfortunately. Unfortunately I cannot load up the laptop to even check anything. Hopefully this is a software issue and I can get it fixed at a tech store, but I'm worried it could be a hardware problem (Internet suggested there was some memory corruption?).

I've a Dell XPS 15 9550 (512GB SSD PCIe) that gives me a BSOD after at least two hours of uptime. It doesn't create any dump, it only gives me the error on the BSOD critical_process_died. I alredy tried to do various clean install of the OS redownloaded a lot of times and to set from BIOS the drive to RAID in AHCI with various manually installed driver without any result.. I don't know what can I do anymore..

I am using a Lenovo Y510P, originally installed with Windows 8.1. I upgraded to Windows 10 in July and it worked fine-ish up until now. I have recently (for the past few days) encountered quite frequent BSODs, most of the time with the code CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. I tried clean-resetting Windows 10 but the error kept recurring. It happened really randomly, sometimes when I was browsing the web in Chrome, sometimes when I was typing something in Skype, or in Microsoft Word, or sometimes when I just tried to refresh the desktop. So there's really no predicting when it is going to happen
P/s: After rebooting from BSOD, for some reason the system does not recognise any bootable device (and so it tries and fails to boot from my network?). But when I hard-reset the computer by holding the power button the system can boot into Windows again. I used to have grub2 bootloader for my Ubuntu, but after the first of such BSODs it died, somehow, so the system just booted straight into Windows from then on.

I have been struggling for a month now trying to fix my system, I have installed a windows seven then migrated to 10 but the issue I'm about to talk about has been happening since day one of me acquiring the new rig.
- Everything freezes
- Blue screen
- Varying problem. Either CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED or UNEXPECTED_STORE_ERROR and a couple others.
What I did so far:
- Checked driver updates.
- SFC /SCANNOW.
- Reinstalled system.
What I suspect and hope it is not:
- CPU hardware malfunction.
- SSD hardware malfunction.
- Windows needs a good beating.
I have included the Dxdiag.text file and the CBS.log file.

I have a Lenovo laptop with windows 8.1 pro. I upgraded to windows 10 pro. After a successful install I checked the desktop, All is fine. Then I rebooted the laptop and received a critical process died error (Blue screen) It occurs after I enter my user name and password. Then it crashes.
I have been able to go back to windows 8.1 and removed any 'questionable" software. i then re-installed windows 10 pro (Same error) This has happened 4 times. The laptop always crashes when signing onto windows 10.

I have this critical process died after my laptop goes on automatic update but in the middle of updating my electricity went off and since I didn't plug the battery it goes on hard shutdown.. When i try to start it again it shows this critical process died message. Won't startup, and can't go on safe mode.. I tried to use "reset this pc" option but it cancelled after going around 8% of the process.. I dont have back ups tho

So I was playing around with VBS and I screwd up the loop command and made my computer open like 50 mspaint. I hard shutdown my computer and then it just wouldn't boot up. Put me in the fix screen and gave me two options of restart or more advanced. Restart gives blue screen with critical process died, safe mode takes me back to that screen and nothing is fixing it.

I tend to get a BSOD when working in visual studio, often when doing something requiring heavy processing but occasionally simple things. The BSOD simply says CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. In googling, it seems that might be a driver error. I tried running the verifydriver, following the directions of a windows post I found, which caused the computer to bluescreen before loading windows every time with a driver error that did not specify a specific driver that caused the problem. I'm hoping that will be somewhere in the minidump that should be within the attachment (created by following the posting directions). I was not able to figure out from the minidump what driver might specifically be the problem, if I'm even barking up the right tree about a driver issue in the first place. There doesn't appear to be any minidump from the critical process errors unfortunately.

Have an office computer which bluescreens daily after a certain period of time, but then is fine for the rest of the working day.
BSOD shows CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION,
and bluescreenview shows plenty of ntoskrnl.exe+ 14e2a0
I'm sure its relating to a driver but how to go about finding out which one is most likely at fault. Is there a website I can dump one of the DM log files into and have it bring up a list of outdated drivers?

My computer has since for as long as I remember experiencing bsod crashes at varying frequencies. I have previously searched online for this twice, but without any success. The error messages in on bsod vary a lot, but I think all that information is in the attached file. And I don't think there's much more to say about it.

My problem is very similar to one described by tomzino earlier this month in this forum. Since upgrading from windows 7 home premium to windows 10, my computer gets a BSOD and reboots daily; so far in November it has crashed 20 times. The only days it didn't, the system was powered down. The error message is the 'bad pool header' . Oddly, 85% of the BSODs have occurred between 12:12pm and 12:43pm EST. I ran the DM Log collector to gather the information from the last two crashes for diagnosis.

I've experienced multiple BSOD's in a while now. It occurs several times every day. I thought it was an issue with my graphics card, since it often occured using Adobe Illustrator and other GPU needing applications. Today I replaced my graphics card and I got a BSOD a few minutes later.
I've attached the BSOD file.
