BSOD :: During Installation Of Programs
Feb 23, 2016
So I started receiving BSOD's and crashes a week ago on computer wake up and bootup so I decided to update my drivers using IOBIT Driver Booster. However during the installation of the various drivers, I got a BSOD and when I restarted my synaptics trackpad no longer worked. I tried System restore, but each time it said it was unable to perform the operation. Following this I used Window's 10's 'Reset this PC' which basically uninstalled everything while leaving my docs and files untouched.
As I was reinstalling everything, I started getting BSOD's everywhere. (Gotten 4 today I think). Each time was during the installation of a program. And I think each time in the BSOD screen it had something to do with 'bcmpiedhd63.sys'. (I couldn't find anything online about this).
This is a relatively new PC, Dell XPS 15 9550, I7-6700HQ, GTX960M, 16GB Ram, 512 SSD.
So far, I've run Dell's system diagnostic on the hardware and it has found nothing. I've also done Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro scans and it has also been negative.

Yesterday (12/7/15) I got on steam to play some games with a friend and about 5 seconds into starting CS:GO my computer screen turns black, and it restarts, with no error/crash message.
Earlier today I got fed up with this so I decided to wipe my computer and do a clean install of Win.10 but the problem still persists. I mean the computer runs really quickly now, but the second I play any game, or compress anything it crashes, and restarts.
How can I stop/fix this issue?

Got a perfect upgrade from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro for any programs that were on the boot disk. However any programs that were loaded on a second (non-bootable) disk were not recognized at all. Is there any way, other than reloading all those programs, to get Win10 Pro to know they are there? I thought this would be caught when the system upgraded but this did not happen. I was trying to keep my boot drive lean and mean.

Recently, any program i install will not be able to start. Example is Handbrake, i want to convert some videos to put them on my Iphone so I downloaded Handbrake to convert them. It all installs well as Administrator. I try to start the program, making sure to run it as administrator but every time it gives me the error "Handbrake has stopped working" Ive tried many different versions of handbrake, even their nightly builds but nothing works. Today i want to test ShadowPlay using Geforce Experience. Problem is, I had uninstalled GeForce experience. I installed it again but it will not start. It gives the error "Geforce Experience has encountered and error and must close" Before this programs were able to install and run perfectly fine.

If I clone a disc with Acronis true home image . Does it just copy programmas and apps I have installed? This would save me a lot of time if this is true. For example if I have Windows 10 Home installed when I backed it up and installed pro, would it keep my windows 10 professional licence and Office Etc. On to my new install.

So I've been trying to update to WIN 10 a lot of times since it came out. Unfortunately the update fails around 80-90% and a BSOD shows up. The BSOD says something like Kernel Inpage Error. I've tried to update from Windows Update, the media creator tool and from the "Get Windows 10" program.

Having an annoying problem where when I try and install a software package for a device the system hard locks during the driver installation phase. No BSOD, simply freezes at the same point during the installation. Doesn't do it for every device I've installed its only done it for my Avermedia C985 capture card and now for a D-Link USB WIFI stick.
I had to manually install the drivers for the capture card through the device manager. The USB stick is harder because I cant get the software separately to the driver so can't complete the installation.
I've tried disabling driver verification but that didn't work.

I have a dell inspiron 7000 and recently reinstalled windows 10 into my laptop after I received a system thread exception not handled error with a bootable usb. After painstakingly spending a whole day (10 hours) I succeeded in restoring my laptop with windows 10. Nevertheless, I accidentally restarted my laptop while the bootable usb is still in the usb drive and now my laptop does not even load/boot. The screen just freeze trying to load up the OS as in the spinning dots when the windows first loaded up, after 3 dots loaded, the whole screen freezes. in addition, when I try to load up windows repair, it'll load up an extra dot and freezes at 4 loading dots; I can't even load into the hard-drive through BIOS. The good thing is that I can still access the BIOS and do diagnostic test and all the stuff from BIOS. Other than that, I'm unable to access my computer.

I recently upgraded to windows 10 however after the download some of my programs had disappeared (not all of them). Some of the ones that disappeared included steam, malware bytes and google chrome. Some that stayed included MS office 2013, ccleaner and CPUID. After some research I found a windows.old folder which I assume is a backup of everything that was on W8.1. Something I found very strange was that all of my steam game icons were there however needed redownloading. Is it possible to just copy the whole steam folder from windows.old into the program files folder in windows 10 or will I have to redone load everything again? Could I also do this with any other programs or will they not work and is it recommended to delete windows.old?

I just upgraded to Windows 10 from 8.1 and I am disappointed to see that some of my programs are now blurry. I had encountered this problem before when I installed Windows 8.1, but somehow I was able to fix it.
I can remove the blurriness from individual programs by manually disabling dpi scaling on each program, but I would like to do this system wide.
When I try to edit the display settings through the control panel, the changes I make result in everything on the screen being too small for me to read. I can't seem to get everything right how it was when I was running Windows 8.1.

Today I've been setting up my new rig and I've been hitting an issue, some programs will not launch. The three main programs I've been having issues with are:
-Paint, won't start no matter what I do
-Geforce Experience, starts the launcher but wont open the main program
-League of Legends, Launcher works but trying to start the game usually wont work.
I've tried various compatibility modes and administrator modes with these and yet nothing, not even an error.

I was having some issues with my previous build (Insider), and hard disk crashing, I went and did a full wipe and a clean install.
Unfortunately, some of my programs refuse to add to startup even when the "Start with Windows" option is checked. I've tried completely removing the programs and re-installing and they simply will not start with Windows like they should.
Aside from manually overriding the situation, (which is a workaround, and not a fix), how to resolve this?
