Today, I finally went through with the free Windows 10 upgrade. After the upgrade concluded, my laptop worked fine for about an hour, after which time it crashed to the new and improved Windows 10 BSOD, informing me that they would restart my computer for me. The problem is that, after the initial ACER screen, in which I can press F2 to enter setup, a Windows Automatic Repair screen comes up, and shortly thereafter, crashes right back to the BSOD. It will do this 5 or 6 times before giving up and staying shut down. I cannot press F8 or Shift+F8 to enter safe mode at any point.
Now, when I press F2 to enter the set up screen, I am given the following 5 screens, in order:
As far as I can tell, with an admitted lack of expertise, there does not appear to be any way for me to access the BIOS to at least get to safe mode, and perhaps go back to a restore point.
I worked with my friend install windows 10 on his desktop pc. but after installation, it wont boot, rather showing bsod error 0xc000021a, we have tried reinstalling for a couple of times, but the error persisted. BTW, the previous os was windows 7. We deleted the previous OS's partition and installed it there, but it seems like nothing happened.
View 1 RepliesI have upgraded from windows 8.1 to Windows 10 The upgrade went well and i was able to use my computer initially. After i restarted my computer, i am stuck in Automatic repair loop.
I have downloaded a copy of windows 10 iso image and made a windows 10 USB boot drive. I tried repairing the startup issue as suggested in some of the forums but no joy.
Its a new PC setup three months ago. Sad there was no hardware or app compatibility check before upgrading.
Config: Intel I7 with 16GB RAM. dual boot with Ubuntu
Firstly, I can't generate the dumpfile as I can't access windows at all. I can't access it through any boot options including safe mode.
I've recently upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 through the microsoft updater.
The only major thing I did before this happened was installing the AMD CCC and rebooting, which caused this loop. I actually reinstalled it as switchable graphics wasn't working.
Things I've tried - 1. Automatic Repair - doesn't work. txt file in srt folder says the OS version is not compatible even if I use the Windows 10 usb.
2. chkdsk /f /r - it fixed a bunch of things, there seemed to be a lot of problems but now it says that there is no problems and no further action is required.
3. Fixing and rewriting bcd files - This was the interesting part because my computer some how changed the C: to D: and created a new C:. I've reassigned it so that original C: is renamed back to C: and removed the new C: partition which only had the boot files in it and reformed all the bcd files in original C:
4. I can't run sfc /scanow. It doesn't work with any commands I found over the internet.
5. Other things I found were that if I tried to reset the computer while keeping the files, it doesn't allow me to do it. Also, I found out that some of my drivers were missing by using devcon - graphics (both integrated intel, dedicated radeon m6740) some sound cards, single usb driver. Also when I installed thne integrated intel graphics driver through pnputil, when I restart the computer, the driver disappears and comes up with code 28 again.
I don't mind doing a fresh install but only if I am able to access my current hd files and create a backup, which hopefully should be possible because I can access the files through cmd prompt in WindowsRE.
Win 7 user here, wanting to dual boot with Windows 10 preview (on a different partition).
So I made a Win 10 usb boot disc, and it installed it fine. Played around with the new Windows for a few mins, whilst it downloaded an update, and after installing the update, it said it needs to restart, naturally. So I did.
However, since then, the PC keeps restarting, showing a Windows 10 logo, and below that is the text, "preparing automatic repair". Then it just resets, and goes in this endless loop.
Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it?
I've been having problems recently with my laptop (Samsung 7 series) freezing. I then get a pop up saying "windows has stopped working", and it either unfreeze after a few minutes or I need to force close it.
This happened again yesterday, and wouldn't unfreeze so I force turned it off. Upon restarting, I got a BSOD with the message "critical_process_died", and the laptop restarted itself, only to BSOD again. Now when I turn it on it goes straight into disk repair for C:, saying it is scanning for and repairing errors. However, even after running overnight it never progressed beyond 9% on this, and now I cannot exit the loop without force closing the laptop - but when I reboot it goes straight back into disk checking.
A recent AVG scan was clean, and I cannot recall an update that happened yesterday. Unfortunately. Unfortunately I cannot load up the laptop to even check anything. Hopefully this is a software issue and I can get it fixed at a tech store, but I'm worried it could be a hardware problem (Internet suggested there was some memory corruption?).
I upgraded to Win10 about a month agn Friday my pc was stuck in the Automatic Repair Loop. I tried alt+ctrl+del no result. I reboot and pressed F10 the monitor went to sleep mode. When I pressed the on button on the monitor, the Monitor Status reads as follows:
DVI: No signal
VGA: No signal
Auto Switch Source: on
Default Source: DVI
At a point in time, a msg appeared saying "check video cable" so I used the VGA cable on two different ports no success. I bought a DVI-D cable and used it still the monitor is in sleep mode
I know it's in Windows, because it appears in all three browsers(Firefox,Chrome, and Edge) and in Word, Open Office, etc. It's an ad, but Ad Block Plus, Ad-Aware won't remove it. It just shows up as a band about 4-6" across the bottom of the screen. I can type over it, but it blocks most of what's in back. It basically says Series 5, Hyper Real Engine with a Samsung logo inside. How can I get rid of it? It comes on, stays on for about 15 seconds, disappears for around 15 seconds and the continuous loop never stops. I've tried everything, including anti-virus programs, turning my PC on and off, but no success.
View 2 RepliesEarlier this afternoon I decided to reset Windows 10 as I had a problem with BSOD BAD_POOL_CALLING over and over again. I booted in Safe Mode, went to Advanced Options and so on. It wasn't a factory-new reset, just the one that removes all files, app data, etc. I left it for a while and came back to find it hadn't worked; there was an error message that read 'There was a problem whilst restarting your PC'. I tried again and the error message appeared again. Because of this, I decided to exit and continue to Windows 10 and see if it had done anything.
Now, when I try to boot my PC up, the circle that usually rotates on the 'Zoostorm' screen when loading doesn't appear. The PC then reboots and tries again, again and again, but with no success. I have tried turning off and on, and even unplugging everything, however nothing seems to work. My PC is now stuck in a continuous reboot loop and won't load. Unfortunately, I can't press F8 or Shift + F8 when booting to start Safe Mode. I have never made a recovery drive for Windows 10 and I don't think my computer came with a repair disk.
About a minute after starting up, my desktop begins to start flashing to black and coming back in a continuous loop. The file explorer, however is completely unaffected. Using Google I have found that this occurred back in the technical previews of Windows 10 as well, but a new update from Windows fixed the issue. I can not get the explorer stable long enough to even check Windows Update. I have also run sfc /scannow and it said the integrity of my system is fine.
View 4 RepliesI chose the "fast" ring update on the windows insider app in order to get the preview for windows 10 on my lumia 1520. It updated fine but since the migrating data process began, it has been stuck in a continuous reboot loop. The screen shows the nokia logo and the windows logo briefly, then shows the at&t logo (since I bought the phone in the US) with "not for resale" written in the bottom left corner. How can I fix this? I don't mind losing all my data.
View 3 RepliesSo, my hard drive recently went out on my computer. I'm broke, so I pulled a hard drive out of an old computer my friend gave me a couple years ago. That hard drive has a non-genuine copy of windows 7 ultimate edition. The previous hard drive had Windows 8.1, and I have a valid product key for that, so I figured "Eh, what the heck. I'll just install 10 and use my Windows 8 product key to validate it for the free upgrade."
Now, the problem becomes that the copy of windows 7 on the hard drive is 32 bit, and the rest of the computer is built for a 64 bit OS, and I don't like the idea of not using the full capabilities of my system. I've got 8GB RAM in here. Only using half of it feels horrible. So I'd like to get 64 bit Windows 10. I went and downloaded the iso through microsoft's media thing, then burned it to a DVD5 using a separate tool called imgburn.
However, when I boot to the DVD, the blue, flat windows logo shows up, it hangs for awhile doing nothing, the spinning dots show up, then it immediately crashes, giving me a blue screen.
The blue screen has the frowny face and the "Something went wrong" and the error code 0xc000021a. A bunch of googling shows me a whole lot of problems with the system on boot, but nothing at all related to installing windows 10 and getting that error. Microsoft's site has been less than useful, only telling me that there was either a problem with WinLogon.exe or csrss.exe, with no information about how to trouble shoot that problem.
I've tried making more copies of the disc (I'm out of DVDs now), and I redownloaded the iso and switched burner programs for the final disc.
I was browsing Tumblr on Microsoft edge and suddenly I get a BSOD which said driver_overran_stack_buffer.
Now I get the endless reboot, 0xc000021a.
I do not have a restore point or disc from which to recover from. I upgraded downloading the tool on the Microsoft website... This computer has all my important work files.
I recently purchased an intel NUC6i5SYH kit PC and fitted it with the following RAM and HDD.
Samsung 500GB 850 EVO M.2 SSD: Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories
HyperX Impact 16 GB 2133 MHz DDR4 SODIMM Memory Kit (2 x 8 GB): Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories
I installed a copy of windows 8 that I owned and then upgraded it to windows 10. It was working fine for a couple of weeks, and suddenly it had and error and is stuck rebooting itself with a blue screen error.
The error appears to be different every time but the ones I have seen repeated are "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" and "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION".
I can get into the BIOS and that's about it. I can't find a way to boot into safe mode and when I try and install a fresh copy of windows 10 via USB created from microsoft i still get a blue screen error after a couple of seconds.
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 without a problem, but after a while I thought; why not do a clean install? I went ahead and tried to perform a clean install from the windows 10 settings, and chose all drives, and a quick reset.
It then started the process, after which it crashed with a BSOD telling me something went wrong and that it would restart. After that it kept restarting, sometimes with a BSOD, sometimes just freezing on the windows 10 logo. There were different BSOD errors each time it would crash, I can't remember all of them.
Some of them were along the lines of a driver stack overrun, some were telling me system32/winload didn't exist.
We tried a system restore from USB, but there was no difference. We tried going into the BIOS menu, sometimes it worked, sometimes it froze, and we made sure that the USB would be the first the PC would boot from. Still no difference.
At this point the PC just froze on the windows logo, still trying to initialize the system reset I think. I unplugged the drives and plugged them into my laptop to check what was wrong, and both drives were wiped, with nothing left, no hidden files.
Only with both drives unplugged, the PC would give me something different, an error saying that there is no operating system, which is obvious, so I don't think it's the PC, but windows that is generating this problem.
I tried booting from USB multiple times, with a system restore on it, a windows 10 installation on it, and a windows 8.1 installation on it, since that is what my PC started with.
I'm trying to resolve an issue with a Windows 10 desktop, HP small form factor purchased with OEM Win 7. Windows Update suggested Windows 10 and now the machine boots to the automatic repair screen but there is no mouse or keyboard function where the option panes appear.
While I did purchase the computer myself originally, it was purchased for the use of my church group, and two weeks ago came under the care of my co-deacon and friend. So, let's just say there is no recovery media now for Win 7 or Win 10. I can create a recovery disk here at home from one of my local Win 7 systems, but not sure if that will work or not.
I'd be perfectly happy to un-install Win10 from the machine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get to the recovery partition... all F-key options have been tried.
This is a Core Duo processor.
So when I'm trying to log on, my computer does the whole automatic repair thing, but constantly loops. Now, I know this has been notified before, even for windows ten, but it seems I just can't fix it. All the solutions on the articles I've seen don't seem to work .
View 6 RepliesAlthough, the upgrade this morning initially was successful - it did reboot into Windows 10. When I restarted the machine, it's now stuck in the setup repair loop. None of the options seem to work, even if I try and have it reinstall windows while keeping my files, it still restarts and goes back to the setup repair. I really don't want to do a clean install as I didn't make a backup of my files (which I will always do from now on).
View 1 RepliesSo i found a possible repair on fixing the current situation o the infinite loop from this forum [URL].... around step 13 it said"If any one of them are 0 bytes, then you should stop what you're doing now and seek an alternative method of recovering your system, because Windows cannot function with a 0-byte size registry hive ". I have 0 as my "RegBack" values and i can't find an alternate .
View 4 RepliesRecently I got a new gaming PC which came with windows 7. The day after i upgraded to windows 10 and it was working fine. Yesterday i was using my PC and then the task bar disappeared so i decided to restart the computer to try and fix it. When the computer turned on again it went through the normal startup process but when it got to the windows logo it said preparing automatic install and then kept looping through startup and the windows logo. I have tried doing the system repair but when I press F8 nothing happens, so right now all i can do on the computer now is access the BIOS.
View 3 RepliesI have a booting problem with my Windows 10, after having it for two months. Few days ago after turning my PC on, I had a message Starting Windows Repair, after some time it shows me the same screen with text - Diagnosing your PC. Then after having a black background, a light blue screen appears with error 'Your PC did not start correctly', it gives me options to restart it again or to open on Advanced options. There are so many of them, I tried all except the one with Restarting PC and deleting files, all the others, including Safe Mode won't work. I am stuck now here and can't use my PC.
View 9 Replies have an Asus Laptop running Win 10, upgraded from win 7. While reading one of the many links from Facebook, using Chrome as a browser, I got a popup that looked like some kind of ransomware . The popup would not close so I turned off the computer.
Now when I turn the computer on it flashes the Asus logo. Then “preparing automatic repair”, “diagnosing your computer” followed by “repairing your computer” appear. It then tells me that the PC did not start correctly and gives me the option to restart or advanced options. Restart brings me back to this point.
Advanced options gives me three options, Turn orr the PC that does that, Exit and continue to Win 10 that gets me back to the previous step or troubleshoot. Trouble shoot gives me the options to reset or more advanced options.
Reset is either a partial or full removal and reinstall or windows. I have some academic software that I do not want to lose if possible and in any case do not have any media to do a Windows reinstall.
The advanced options gives me six choices.
1 System Restore, but there are no restore points found.
2 System image recovery, but I do not have an image disc .
3 Startup repair, starts the process all over and does not find the problem.
4 Command Prompt, appears to open a working command prompt.
5 Startup Settings, Gives me a non clickable list of options but just continues the loop.
6 Go back to previous build. It warns me that I may lose apps and any changes I have made, but not my personal files.
The System is an ASUS laptop, X54C, made in 2012 with Widows 7 Home premium updated to win 10. I have no other access to the computer.
I've been using Windows 10 for few weeks now and it's been really good.
8GB Ram
1 TB Hard Disc
Asus Motherboard
i5 processor
Used the PC as I would normally do and shut it down last night. Recently installed the latest update for Win 10 as I recall. Otherwise no new changes or installation to the system.
So now when I switched it on its showing Automatic Startup Repair and it diagnose the PC but fails every time and shows a blue screen of startup repair where I can:-
- reset PC (reinstall but this fails at 36%)
- system restore or image restore ( but can't use either)
- startup repair (doesn't work either)
- command prompt (tried sfc/scannow and they won't allow me to do so unless I restart but keeps getting same error.
Tried unplugging the hard disc etc but same old loop again.
Obviously I can't click on anything or type anything because the loop is constant. I've been reading forums etc for the past couple of days for a fix for this Automatic Repair loop..nothing that would work and I notice many others the past year also never found a solution.
I burned on a dvd a Windows 10 bootup thing- as suggested by someone. That doesn't stop the loop either- and yes, I did get to the page via F12 that allows to change it to boot from the DVD etc.
This afternoon my wife was doing something on the computer, got stuck, and rebooted. Once she rebooted a screen popped up into a repair diagnostic screen and said it was diagnosing the error to repair it. Only problem was that it didn't repair anything and the options that were available were all tried and nothing fixed this infinite loop issue. Luckily, I backed up my system with Acronis TrueImage so as we're speaking my PC is being restored. Windows 10...
