View 4 RepliesOn three occasions, my laptop has crashed displaying the blue screen. If I recall correctly, the blue screens occured while I was either browsing the web or reading a PDF..
View 3 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 home last week. However, today, while I was playing with my PS4, my PC randomly got 2 BSOD with in 3 minutes time frame. I was not using my PC. It was turned on, idling. After the first BSOD, the PC restarted and within 3 min another BSOD.I ran Memtest and Prime95, and played GTA 5 without any failures.

I recently managed to get a cryptowall/cryptolocker virus. I wiped everything, formatted c: and reinstalled windows 7 home premium. Was getting constant, seemingly random BSODs 10+ times daily. Tried a bunch of things, didn't work, so recently upgraded to windows 10. The BSOD's are a lot rarer but still occur at annoying times.
I've had the PC for nearly 3 years now. Prior to the reinstalls there was never 1 BSOD and the machine would stay stable for weeks on end without a restart or issue.
My computer has always crashed frequently since I built it a few months ago. I finally did a clean Windows 10 install to see if that would sort it out but it didn't. It appears random. It crashes during resource intensive games, not resource intensive games, browsing, watching a video, or even just idling once every 2 to 6 hours of use. BSOD point their fingers at the RAM (which has tested fine), my graphics driver (the latest), and other things I'm not sure about.
View 7 RepliesError shown is Video_TDR_Failure (NVLDDMKM.SYS). I got that BSOD only one time, every other time the VGA just started stuttering gradually, eventually coming into a halt and then a forced reboot.
I'm pretty sure this was caused by one of the update that Microsoft forces me to install because these kind of problems have never happened before, which you can see here [URL] ...
IMO I think it's because of KB3141032. I could be wrong though
And here's the minidump file: [URL] ...
A clean install of the newest driver doesn't work either.
Right now I've just uninstalled the newest Nvidia driver that I installed in a panic and reversed back to 355.98 (cleaned with DDU) but the damned problem still persists.
So, new computer, was using Windows 7 and getting BSODs constantly. So I decided to make a clean install with Windows 10 and thought the issue was resolved, clearly not the case.
I will be uploading the last mini dump, but let me already tell you that more than one error code happened (more than one BSOD).
I used the forum's guide to collect the mini dump information. The dump archives I got from the Windows folder are huge, I guess we are not going to use that, am I right?
I am suspecting it to be some Hard Disk issue or RAM memory. One of the messages I could capture was "Kmode_Exception_Not_Handled".

Two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart
My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers. The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.
I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.
I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen.
I'm attaching the zip file required.
After upgrading to Windows 10 I've gotten blue screen'd at random times. At first I kept getting them whenever I would plug in my laptop to an outlet, or close it, unplug it, open it back up. One other time I was using my laptop and the power just cut out. No blue screen or anything, just cut to black.
Each time it seems to be Kernel Security Check Failure, I think there may have been one more but I'm honestly not sure. another happens when my computer is on but not plugged in, it gives me Attempted Switch From DPC when I plug the charger in (just happened).
The most recent one (today, right before posting this) I had Android Studio downloading the android SDK, Firefox browsing the internet, and a few other programs doing nothing right before I again got a blue screen with Kernel Security Check Failure. My laptop is plugged in and has been for a while, and I'm tired of these crashes.
Currently I am considering going back to Windows 8.1 just to have some much needed stability.

My PC crahes and BSOD at randowm times, no pattern to it really.
I also sometimes have problems booting the pc, it just hangs on a black screen and will only eventually boot if i turn it off and back on.
Attatched the crash file
Really having some annoying problems ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 pro x64 to Windows 10 pro x64. I play a variety of video games but most recently I've been playing Diablo 3 and for some reason my computer randomly crashes and restarts in the middle of playing. One of my screens goes black (main monitor) and the other usually goes some different color. This may happen with other games but I haven't played many of my other games recently. This has never happened prior to me upgrading to windows 10. I thought perhaps that it was my video drivers so i ran Display Driver Uninstaller and downloaded the latest driver for my GTX 570 Hd.
It will still happening so i thought it was the CPU (3770k) overheating. I replaced the Thermal paste which was almost gone and thought that would be the end of the issue but it is still happening. I reinstalled Diablo 3 along with the battle.net app and still not change. I can a SFC /scannow and that did find and repair some files and i also did a check disk but everything came back clean with that. I then replaced my 8 year old PSU for a new one today and it still happens. For a while, i was not seeing anything in event viewer but a few minutes ago it crashed again so when I looked in Event viewer i found a few Windows error reporting that mentioned BSOD. I read the posting instructions and have run the Dm log collector.
I have a new PC that I built and i'll include the parts at the end. I'm running Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview. Eval copy. Build 10565. This machine randomly freezes on me(No BSOD) and I haven't been able to figure out the cause. It does not matter what i'm doing whether it be, browsing the web, downloading driver packages, checking email.. etc. I feel that i'm experienced enough to figure these things out with 3 years of troubleshooting experience, A+ certified and i'm a SQL dev.

Right now I only have 1 23" Dell Monitor hooked up to DVI because I wasn't sure if it was the other 2 causing the graphics card to freeze up.

View 1 RepliesI have had persistent problems recently with my computer freezing/crashing. This is an HP Pavilion, model 500-123a, running Windows 10 (recently upgraded from Windows 8). What's been happening is that it's been stalling out, both in Word (without broadband on) and on the Web (eg Yahoo, Yahoo Mail). In Word the cursor freezes and will not move, the screen goes opaque white, the blue circle whirls, can't do anything with it, can't shut down, and I have to unplug it and reboot.
This can happen 3 or 4 times a day. In Yahoo, similarly, the screen freezes, the cursor won't move at all, and have to unplug. I used software, PC Health Advisor, to try to diagnose the problem, and it hasn't signalled up anything specifically. From checks I've done, it doesn't look like fragmentation, nor RAM (8GB), nor registry issues, nor a monitor problem.
I have an HP Pavilion 500-123a PC running Windows 10 which has been freezing and crashing frequently.I have attempted several diagnostic and fix options about which I have posted to this forum before, though the difficulty thus far is unresolved. In particular sfc/scannow does not complete; halts at 56% with the message Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
I also attempted a Repair Install using the Media Creation Tool iso file. This was initiated in the administrator account (PC has two accounts) and got to 97% when it failed with the error message We couldnt install Windows 10, The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during PRE_OOBE operation error code 0x8007002C-0x4001E.The diagnostic software PC Health Advisor only came up with 2 registry issues, without specifying further. The Dism tool was OK however reporting. The component store is repairable. The operation completed successfully.Given that the PC is still freezing/crashing at this stage I am perplexed regarding how to arrive at a diagnosis and fix and, again,
My computer freezes or crashes around at least 1 time a day.
System:
Windows 10
GPU Nvidia GTX 970 msi gaming 4g
CPU fx 6300
Ram 8gb
Free space 204 gb
What can I do to stop it?
my computer will always randomly freeze for 1-3 seconds when I do normal tasks (like using chrome and skype). The freezes cause audio and mouse to also freeze during that time.
I tried to swap CPUs, get a new mobo, use different RAM and nothing works. I've got this problem since Windows 8. But its been progressively worse. Now I also sometimes have problems POSTing and the display will turn black when I boot up to the login screen.
I used latencymon to check which drivers are causing the problem and when I disable my GPU drivers the stuttering is gone. I don't have any of these problems when using DirectX apps. My GTX 660 has the latest drivers installed.
My computer is crashing constantly, and its gotten to a point where its just very hard to use. It sometimes crashes 3 or 4 times a day, with crashes including blue screens, random restarts, complete power offs, and a combination of blue screen and mid blue screen it turns off. I've manually removed software, used malware scanners, cleared data, but nothing so far has worked.
My computer is the CyberPower GUA880, with the single modification of an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti graphics card.
My most common BSOD is CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
I've experienced multiple BSOD's in a while now. It occurs several times every day. I thought it was an issue with my graphics card, since it often occured using Adobe Illustrator and other GPU needing applications. Today I replaced my graphics card and I got a BSOD a few minutes later.
I've attached the BSOD file.

Have had home builds for years with no big issues before windows 8.1 and now windows 10. I thought i had issues with memory or graphic card on my previous computer so i ended up buying new parts for a new build.
But nothing changed. Not so frequent as before but up to several times a day my computers gets an BSOD. I must say it is random for me what i am doing while this happens.
Different messages before restarting. The 2 last one while trying to create this thread and making the dump zip file was Kernel check failure and DPC watchdog violation.

First off my windows 10 install worked fine for about a month and then all of a sudden I have been experiencing 2 to 3 ramdom crashes and reboots. There is no BSOD, the computer just simply turns off and reboots, even though I have set the advanced settings not to automatically shut down on error. I have also updated to the latest BIOS ....
My system - self build.
Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard
4 sticks of Corsiar dominator RAM running at 2133 (they are specified up to 2666)
default BIOS settings - no overclocking
2*EVGA Geforce 980s in SLI
I have disconnected all usb devices but this is still happening. What is strange that it just started out of the blue. Before i just do a fresh install, any diagnostic approaches?
As you could see the file which cause the bug is not very current (appid.sys), so i think it's not the real culprit... Of course i've tested memory, ssd, virus, before post here. I've also bought who crashed pro for analyse the dump and installed windbg but for the first, no essential information and for the second i don't have all knowledge for exploiting this tool throughly... View 3 RepliesI have been having an issue for a few weeks now where my computer will BSOD or freeze whenever I play certain games.
At first I thought it was a specific game (Xcom 2) that was doing it, but it has since started happening while playing other games that didn't have that issue in the past (One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 and Sonic Racing Transformed).
I included the file as requested on the posting instructions.
Note I ran the program today, but I havent had a crash since yesterday so I am unsure if the information will be there? If necessary I can run Xcom 2 for a while to force a crash, but for obvious reasons I would prefer not to if it isn't needed.
Never once had a blue screen or crash in the years I ran 7, which is pretty surprising given the stress I've put this thing under. After upgrading, my system's locking up constantly and I got my first BSOD last night. look through the dmp for me? Looks like it's a problem with one of the USB drivers, but I'm not sure where to go from there.
View 7 RepliesI just bought a custom rig and the BSOD keep popping out every now and then. The BSOD are different every time.
Other than that, I noticed that Firefox and Origin program keep crashing as well....
Attached is my dump file for your comment.
Within an hour or so, there are crashes on Mozilla Firefox and several BSODs. The second attachment is the latest dump file
in the last few days when playing games (BFBC2, BF3 and Sticky Bomb), my computer has been freezing at various points (sometimes within a minute, sometimes after 2 hours), and on reboot i get BSOD sometimes with different error messages such as "system_services_exception".
After the initial reboot BSOD i seem to sometimes get a 2nd BSOD such as "system_thread_unhandled_exception", "IRQOL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and other error messages. Occasionally after rebooting I get a freeze just on desktop screen, which never happens unless I have just had a freeze in game.
Before this started happening I have installed a new sound card and installed new drivers for my graphics card. I have since tried taking out the sound card (same problem seen) and also rolling back to the previous nvidia drivers with no avail.
I tried running memtest, but after 2 hours it was only over 50% so gave up for now, but at that point it hadn't seen any errors.
My rig is:
Asus M5A97 R2.0
16 GB Corsair Vengence
MSI GTX 970
AMD FX-8350 4.2GHz
Asus Xonar DGX
Corsair 750Watt PSU
win 10 64 bit
