BSOD :: Frequently Occurring When Laptop Is In Standby?
Apr 14, 2016
I am little frustrated as my laptop crashes frequently when not in work. It runs well when I am doing any task, I mean when mouse and keyboards are in use. But if I keep my laptop open and there is no activity, immediately after sometime, it crashes and shows BSOD. For each case of BSOD, the problems are different. I have analyzed the minidump file (Though I am not an expert, but tried) and each minidump files says different causes and lists different programs as affected, but I could not make a solution for it. analyze the dump files and tell me exactly what is causing the problems from the attached minidump files.
I am running Microsoft Windows 10 Pro on HP 14-r029tx laptop with 4th generation Intel Core-i3 processor, 4 GB DDR3 Ram and 2 GB NVIDIA GeForce 820M Gfx card.

Issues regarding hibernation on laptop? Since upgrading to Windows 10 I've noticed that my laptop seems to be going into hibernation much more quickly than it did in Windows 7. I checked my settings and my screen saver settings and so on are setup to those recommended by HP but these do not seem to be having an impact on hibernation. What's particularly frustrating is that even when it's plugged in if you have a long download/install/update you must keep the machine active by moving the mouse or be active on the keyboard or it will go into hibernation mode very quickly (under 5 minutes).

My computer has since for as long as I remember experiencing bsod crashes at varying frequencies. I have previously searched online for this twice, but without any success. The error messages in on bsod vary a lot, but I think all that information is in the attached file. And I don't think there's much more to say about it.

I have a problem with my Asus S56C, I have frequent BSODs, but they only occur after few seconds or few minutes out of the Stand By mode. It does not happen after restarting restarting or turning on the PC. I have already tested the RAM and Hard Drives. Updating to Win 8.1 and then 10 did not change the problem or the way it happens. Since it might be a driver problem, I have tried to play a little bit with Driver Verifier but the drivers are so many that I was not able to identify only one and then I stopped because it was really too time consuming. I updated all thedrivers manually from the Control Panel, but it did not change anything. For the rest the computer is fine, I sent it to the ASUS Service when was still under warranty and they replaced RAM, HD, DVD-ROM, but not the 24 Gb SSD. It also came back with a clean Windows 8 but it had the same problem after installing just Avast, Chrome and Mozilla (I have already uninstalled Avast and no improvements).

I've been running windows 10 since April this year (on technical preview mostly)....
I've found that when I'm playing games (Fifa 15, Minecraft, Rocket League, Civilisation V etc) that my PC bluescreens so often, I'm at my wits end.
I'll leave this zipped file that I'm meant to leave, as well as my dxdiag report just incase you need to know my specs and such .

I saw several threads dealing with sleep/standby problems, but I'd like to pinpoint a specific point: My computer goes to sleep (first display switch-off, then CPU/MB standby) but only according to default timings. If I change the timings, they are used when computer sleeps for the first time, but then timings immediately revert back to default. Since I have Windows 10 Home, I can't use gpedit to investigate Group Policies setup.

Since I've upgraded to Windows 10, most of the time when my Surface Pro 3 goes to sleep or stand-by, most (if not all) of the universal apps (mail, edge, etc.) freeze. When I return from sleep, their windows are all completely unresponsive, except for the minimize and close button on the top right.

Steam, games, task manager seem to be the most affected. They typically stop responding for 2 minutes or so and then start back up. Steam in particular is awful, it closes, runs in the background, but I can't physically open it. I have to open task manager (which in turn doesn't respond), end all steam related processes, and then re-open Steam. This doesn't work most of the time, and restarting is the only option.
Restarting often brings issues with not shutting down. I get a grey screen and have to manually restart my pc. I've noticed this issue occurs more frequently when I have a Windows Update.

I have had to remove and add my user account five times in the past because of some random failure of Windows Store or other apps like Photos and Mail. By failure I mean those apps don't launch at all - not from the start menu, or desktop shortcut or app list. Now that time has come again because the mail app won't launch.
I have tried all possible solutions I could find online. I've tried wsreset, powershell commands, nothing has worked for me. On the system where it's happened now, my system has 4 online accounts and one local account which is the only admin account. There are not many third party apps installed except for some like ESET antivirus, WinRAR and PowerISO.

I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8 shortly after release, since then I've been experiencing frequent freezing with audio glitching . I experience the freezing regardless of what I'm doing, it freezes during gaming, watching videos, listening to music, typing, and when the pc is not in use. The strange thing is that I can unfreeze my computer by pressing any button on my keyboard.
My specs
cpu - AMD Phenom x6 1055t
gpu - XFX Radeon r9 270(i'm not sure if it's "x" or not)

After upgrade I notice that Maps app and Photos app keep launching automatically , even after closing them. I'm not sure what is triggering them.

Since my upgrade to W10 from W7 Ultimate I have been having connectivity issues. Specifically my connection terminates frequently many times per day causing me to unplug my wireless receiver then plug it back in. My wifi unit is a Netgear N300 USB adapter model WNA3100. I updated the software from Netgear but it hasn't had any affect on the issue.

My graphics driver crashes very often, followed by a message saying that the graphics driver has crashed and recovered. This never happened before upgrading to Windows 10. It happens most often when I'm playing Hearthstone, but also occasionally elsewhere. Today my computer itself crashed due to this for the first time, giving me an error message that I don't remember. When I'm playing Hearthstone, it sometimes happens every 5 seconds or so, being frozen for about 5-10 seconds. My computer prompted me to upgrade to Windows 10, saying it was compatible, so I don't understand why this is happening.

Since I have installed Windows 10 (reluctantly) my laptop keeps switching off whilst I am working with it.
I have an old Thinkpad and have set so the power settings so it never sleeps whether on battery or mains. However, it is always plugged into the mains and I never use it with the battery.
This may be a red herring but I do have Microsoft Solitaire going most of the time, so wondering if it could be a potential cause.

My HP Spectre 13 laptop won't complete a startup. It has the update of Windows 10 pro (from 8.1), a solid state drive (SSD), and classic shell. The computer started earlier today and I got a message that I could restart it to effect updates -- so I did. That restart seemed OK. Next I got a notice to upgrade my Kaspersky Internet Security (to KIS2016, I think) so I said OK. Then I got a message that I could restart to make the Kaspersky the effect. I did, and that is when I got messages in the following sequence.
(At some point a message flashed, too briefly to read, about a thread missing or something.)
1) "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you."
---- Messages: "preparing automatic repair" "diagnosing your PC"
2) "Your PC did not start correctly" [restart] [advanced options]
3) at [advanced options] offered this menu:
--(1) Continue - exit and continue to windows 10
--(2) Use a device -- Use a USB drive, network connection, or windows recovery DVD.
--(3) Troubleshoot -- reset your PC or see advanced options.
--(4) Turn off your PC
4) [Troubleshoot] offers:
--(1) Reset this PC - Lets you choose to keep or remove files, and then re-installs windows.
--(2) Advanced Options
5) [Advanced options] offers:
--(1) System restore -- use a restore point
--(2) System image recovery
--(3) Startup repair - fix problems that keep windows from loading.
--(4) Command prompt
--(5) Startup settings - change windows startup behavior.
--(6) See more recovery options - go back to the previous build.
So far I have only accessed the command prompt and listed folders with DIR. I am thinking of trying to use a system restore point, but I am worried about creating even more problems.
I suspect the problem is due to Win 10 or to drivers or to Kaspersky or an interaction between them. I will post this to Windows 10 forum, to HP Support, and to Kaspersky Support.

My laptop keeps freezing randomly, and seconds later it restarts itself. I'm pretty sure this problem started when i upgraded to windows 10. It use to happen every once in awhile but now it happens several times a day while i am on a browser or doing anything on the computer. I barely have anything installed on it and its fairly new, i bought it earlier this year. I did a scan with AVG and nothing showed up. It doesn't heat up either. I also updated windows 10 to its latest version and also updated the AMD drivers as well. Should i try to reinstall windows 10?
This is the laptop i have: ASUS Laptop R510DP-WH11 AMD A10-Series A10-5750M (2.50 GHz) 8 GB Memory 1 TB HDD AMD Radeon HD 8670M 15.6" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

I bought this laptop 2 weeks ago, it is a HP Pavillion Notebook. For about a week now, maybe even since when I got it, the laptop sometimes fails to wake up from sleep. The screen stays black, gets slightly lit up to gray, then the computer and goes through all that comes with that instead of waking up.
The event log shows a Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework error.

Recently, whenever I wake my laptop up from sleep (from closing the lid and then opening it again), sometimes I get a BSOD.
I think it started when I updated the Intel graphics driver, so I've booted into safe mode, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, and I still get an issue.
I've attached the debug files, there was a previous BSOD a few months ago that I was getting due to a Nvidia driver issue, but I downgraded to an earlier version and it's stopped it, so I don't think the issue is there.
