BSOD :: On Gaming / Streaming / Video Processing

Dec 28, 2015

So I've been experiencing this for a while now on both Windows 7 and Windows 10, any time I stream or process a video my computer blue screens and I have to power it on and off, for all other applications its perfectly fine I have a 4790k proccessor 16gb of of RAM and a GTX 770 Gfx card, the fact it only happens when rendering/streaming/gaming makes me think it's a driver issue, however I use the Nvidia Geforce Experience and always install the latest updates but apparently something is very wrong with the PC, the specifications mean it should be able to do these things easily,

One last thing I'd add is about 8 months after I bought the PC I restored it to factory settings and pretty sure didn't do the greatest job of it, the BSODs have occurred ever since that happened again making me think its driver related, is there anyway to check my drivers and see what could be wrong/incompatible.

I would have posted a log but when i go to event viewer it says the crash dumps been deleted due to lack of space.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xffffe000402c9028, 0x00000000bf800000, 0x0000000000000124). A dump was saved in: C:WINDOWSMEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 14c3a8a0-930a-4b8e-bd5c-6e245fe74fda.

That's all I can seem to find...

BSOD :: Hard Freezes During Streaming Videos / Gaming / Web Browsing

Feb 10, 2016

A friend of mine gifted me with a plethora of new hardware, to the point where I had to buy a new mobo. Did a fresh install of Win10 in the hopes to not run into driver issues and it was solid for about a week. Recently, however crashes have been happening with some regularity, every other day or so, especially when streaming. This is the first time it's actually given a blue screen. Showed the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error message.

Apps :: Video Streaming Failed With Unsupported Video Type Error

Aug 14, 2015

I upgraded my Lenovo U310 laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a week ago. Everything seems to have upgraded successfully. The only problem that I can find is that none of the video streaming from Windows 10 apps can be played. I get an error 'Unsupported video type or invalid file path' when I click on a video article in USA Today or when I try to stream video from any other apps, NBC News, MSN Money, etc... from Windows 10 store.

I have no issue streaming videos from any of the browser though. What could be missing that could cause video streaming to fail?

Crashing (freezes) When Streaming Video

Feb 11, 2016

I upgraded from w7 to w10 a few weeks ago. Since doing so it crashes what seems like 100% of the time when I stream video from certain sites.

Youtube is fine no problems. But bbc iplayer for instance, within 30 seconds the PC just freezes... no ctrl+alt+del option... the pc is just dead and stuck. I have to manually shut it down and restart it every time.

Other sites I'm trying to stream from have the same problem.

I'm hoping there is a quick fix, update, driver or solution I can find rather than doing a clean install because I'm planning to build a PC soon so don't want to have to go through the clean install and downloading/installing all my programs and losing program data with this PC and then the next one too. I'm going to give this PC to family so will be happy to do the clean install at that stage.

Netflix Video Streaming To External Screen?

Jul 19, 2015

via HDMI and my HD TV works just fine except things like Netflix in either IE, Edge or the Netflix app. Audio streams but the windows is black whilst everything else works fine. Windows 8 does not give me this problem. As soon as I move the window or Netflix app to the main screen the video is shown in the window or app.

In case I forgot to forgot fill in my system specs: Laptop MSI GT70. I thought I read somewhere that having an integrated GPU such as this laptop has part of the problem. My other laptop: ASUS doesn't have an integrated GPU and works with Netflix streaming on my HD TV.

Performance :: Video Has A Mild Stutter / Streaming And Some Local Files

Feb 10, 2016

I upgraded to Windows 10 in October 2015 (clean install on a new SSD) and until recently all video looked fine. But recently, sometime after the 10586 update, streaming video started stuttering. It's subtle, like random frames are missing, and audio is smooth, but the picture is annoying enough to be annoying.

In a short while I found that many local files on my hard drive were stuttering, too. I tried every trick I could find and even replaced my onboard graphics with a new nvidia graphics card with 2gb of its own RAM, but nothing worked. Over the weekend, I found that the problem seems to be isolated to streaming files and, for some reason, local MP4 files created at 720p/30fps. Some of these local files were recorded on this PC with PlayOn, which records from streams, so I thought it was still a streaming issue. But a couple of 720p/30fps files I recorded with a Diamond GC2000 also stutter, and so do streams I recorded a year ago with PlayOn, which used to play back properly.

Local files recorded on a standalone device at 1080p/30fps play well. So do files from that same device recorded at 720p/60fps. Local files play better with PotPlayer than with VLC or WMP...Streams stutter with IE11, Edge, and Chrome. Flash is up to date, as are all drivers and Windows updates. For local files, PotPlayer works better than VLC, MPC-HC, or WMP, but video is still not right, and individual players don't work with streams.

The internet connection is not a problem; download speeds are reliably above 200 Mbps, and the modem was replaced to ensure it's not the issue. Besides, my old BD player streams properly, and by today's standards it's a dinosaur.I'm running an Intel Core i5-3570K with 8gb RAM with Windows 10 Pro 64 on an SSD. Data files are on a high-speed spinning drive that I've set to not spin down, and I've set the PC to never sleep, hibernate, or turn off the monitor. I've even turned off the screen saver.

Drivers :: Green Screen When Watch Video On YouTube Or Any Other Streaming Sites

Aug 16, 2015

Since upgrading to Windows 10, whenever I try to watch a video on youtube or any other streaming sites, all I get is a green screen(sometimes black). I have tried in Edge, IE 11 and Firefox , all the same.

My graphics display adapter is AMD 6310HD,my laptop Toshiba C660D previously running Windows 7. Also I don't know if its related but Realplayer Download no longer works.

Checked on Device manager for driver update-result latest driver installed. I have checked Flash Player and Java(both up to date). Before the upgrade all worked perfectly, if there is no solution I may have to revert to Windows 7.

BSOD Mainly While Streaming And Watching Twitch

I have provided my system specs on my profile under the tab "System Spec" if you need to see my setup.

I will provide a screenshot of my recent crashes, and will provide them here, but I recommend looking at the screenshot as it provides a lot more information regarding the crashes. The Bug Check String that says the reason of the crashes are:

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, KMODE_ EXCEPTION_ NOT_HANDLED, ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY.

BSOD :: Browsing Internet / Streaming Videos

Nov 4, 2015

I have had an issue of my computer Blue screening multiple times over the past few weeks. The frequency has increased and I cannot replicate the issue on demand, it comes and goes by itself. The first time I noticed this was when my computer BSODed when I was streaming a video to my Chromecast. Once the computer restarted, it did not have any further issues. However, these past few days when I was browsing the net, my computer was BSOD on its own without really doing anything resource intensive. Is there any way this can be fixed? BSOD Frequent Gaming

Jan 11, 2016

During gaming, I get constant BSOD's with similar error messages. It usually occurs within 5-20 minutes. The computer then reboots and another BSOD always occurs again after i login to my computer. Subsequently another BSOD usually occurs straight after this and completely turns my computer off. These BSOD'S include page non fault, iqrl, memory management, system thread exception (all of the top of my head). I can't recall it happening whilst not gaming and thus I assumed the problem would tend to the GPU which is fully updated. I also ran memtest with a return of no errors and also took each RAM out at a time but still got the error so RAM shouldn't be the problem. I've updated every driver in device manager.

BSOD :: Various Types Usually During Browsing / Gaming

Oct 26, 2015

I upgraded recently to Windows 10, my computer has always had some random BSOD problems but now it's definitely worse, it used to be only while watching videos (on windows media player) then occasionally on gaming,

Now it even happens while browsing and the errors vary from one type to the other, no real constant. I read a bit online and I tried doing a verifier check but my CPU went into a blue screen bootloop so that didn't really solve my problem (had to reopen in safe mode and undo the colossal mess that was)

Not sure where else to go from there. I followed the guidelines and have uploaded a zip of the debug log, I sure hope that will give a good starting point...

BSOD :: Random Crashing And Rebooting While Gaming

Feb 10, 2016

Really having some annoying problems ever since I upgraded from Windows 7 pro x64 to Windows 10 pro x64. I play a variety of video games but most recently I've been playing Diablo 3 and for some reason my computer randomly crashes and restarts in the middle of playing. One of my screens goes black (main monitor) and the other usually goes some different color. This may happen with other games but I haven't played many of my other games recently. This has never happened prior to me upgrading to windows 10. I thought perhaps that it was my video drivers so i ran Display Driver Uninstaller and downloaded the latest driver for my GTX 570 Hd.

It will still happening so i thought it was the CPU (3770k) overheating. I replaced the Thermal paste which was almost gone and thought that would be the end of the issue but it is still happening. I reinstalled Diablo 3 along with the battle.net app and still not change. I can a SFC /scannow and that did find and repair some files and i also did a check disk but everything came back clean with that. I then replaced my 8 year old PSU for a new one today and it still happens. For a while, i was not seeing anything in event viewer but a few minutes ago it crashed again so when I looked in Event viewer i found a few Windows error reporting that mentioned BSOD. I read the posting instructions and have run the Dm log collector.

BSOD :: PC Crashes While Gaming - Error 0xC0000005

Nov 12, 2015

As of lately, my computer will crash randomly while playing mostly graphically intensive games. I can do normal things on my PC all day long and play low end games with pretty much no problem. As soon as I play GTA 5, BF4, or something of that graphic capability the application will crash. Sometimes within a few minutes, but mostly within a 15-30 min period.

Quite frequently, the Runescape Client (queue jokes) window will randomly close too. I kind of feel like this is the same issue going on. However, with this being much less graphically intense, it happens less frequently or takes longer for a crash to occur.

99% of the time I get the same 0xC0000005 error (means the program has attempted to access memory that it shouldn't. ), on rare occasions it will BSOD with a 1A MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error or a 4E PFN_LIST_CORRUPT.

This has become extremely annoying and I don't quite know where to pinpoint the problem, and all of these seem to be memory related issues. Due to the fact that it mostly happens with graphically intense games, I want to point my finger at my video card.

I thought about stress testing my video card to see if it will crash again. I don't really know how to strictly test the memory of a video card, but that was my best guess. Below are the troubleshooting tips I have tried, as well as links to pictures from Event Viewer, Bluescreenview, and debug reports from WinDBG for the 1A and 4E errors are attached.

Troubleshooting steps I have done are:

Tried reverting back to the last "most stable" driver for my GPU (Clean Install)Updated video drivers to the latest version (Clean install)Checked my SSD for errors using software from the vendor (Don't believe this is an issue because two games are on different disks, and the same thing happens)Checked my RAM with memtest86 for 24 hours (Did this twice now)Scanned for malware, no threats foundUsed CCleaner to clean crap off of my computerEnsured Windows was fully up-to-date with the latest critical and optional patches.

BSOD :: During Gaming And Sometimes When Watching Netflix / Browsing?

Jan 23, 2016

I upgraded my video card to a MSI Radeon R9 390 recently. But my Motherboard is a Gigabyte Model: GA-870A-UD3. It is running on PCI-e 2.0 rather than 3.0 but I don't know how to verify that this is what is causing the BSOD.

I am also running two types of RAM in my computer:
Corsair 2x 2GB RAM
Kingston 2x 8GB 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL11

I have a Corsair HX650 as a powersupply. I would've thought that this PSU is sufficient for the hardware that I'm running.

I play games such as GTA V, Starcraft II, Counter Strike: GO and it crashes at random times - sometimes even in the menu screen.

Look forward to hearing back form you and telling me what type of tests I can do to try and find the root cause.

BSOD :: When Using Pot Player And Black Screens When Gaming

Dec 14, 2015

I recently built a computer and am having a few issues. The most recent problems (BSODs - MEMORY_MODULE, IRQL) came while watching videos through Pot Player, which I had just installed.

While not a BSOD, my computer monitor has gone black a number of times while playing even low-intensity games. The computer itself stays on, but my only choice is to reboot. I have monitored temperatures of both the CPU and GPU, and they both stay fairly low (CPU- 35-40C, GPU 45C). I am not OCing. For reference, my outputs are HDMI to monitor, DisplayPort to A/V Receiver, and optical to receiver.

I believe I have the latest BIOS firmware, graphics drivers, etc. I ran 2 passes of memtest without error. I'm worried that there might be a hardware issue, but I don't know where to start.

I can't add a 2nd system spec to my profile, so here are the particulars for this computer:

AMD FX-8350
Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212
MSI 970 Gaming MB
Power Cooler R9 380 4GB
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
2x External 2TB WD MyBook HDs
Crucial MX100 SSD 500GB

BSOD :: Regular Blue Screen Encountered When Gaming

Jan 5, 2016

I have encountered regular blue screen of death when I'm playing. Sometimes the BSOD appeared just after the reboot of my pc too. BSOD :: PC Freezes During Gaming And Sound Starts To Stutter

Jan 23, 2016

During this week I encountered a serious problem with my Laptop. While playing games it freezes and the sound starts to stutter. The only way out is to shut down the PC with the power button. This happens randomly, therefore I can play 20 mins. and I'm fine, or even up to a few hours without any problems, but it could happen anytime and this is really frustrating when playing online games .

My setup is a Clevo-PM15SM with theses specifications:
====================================
CPU: i7-4710MQ @ 2.50GHz (hyperthreaded to 8 cores)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 880M
RAM: 8GB
OS: Clean install of Windows 10 (2 weeks old)

Task Manager and the Strg-Alt-Del Screen do not work.
Drivers are up-to date.
I can confirm it's not a heat issue my PC rarely tops the 50-60 C mark.
The RAM, CPU and GPU are all fine.

I have no clue what's going on. However I took a look at the Event Viewer and discovered that milliseconds before the crash the driver called EnhancedStorage-EhStorTcgDrv crashes. This happens before every crash without exception.
