BSOD :: Splash Screen Opens For About 10 Seconds And Then Disappears
Aug 6, 2015
After successfully installing Win 10 it ran without any issues for about 1 day then Edge refused to launch, the splash screen opens for about 10 seconds and then disappears. The only change made to Edge was to import bookmarks from IE. Unsure where to start looking for an answer.
The Windows store won't open and I'm not sure what to do when i click on it, the splash screen pops up for half a second then disappears as if I never opened it, however it used to work. I've tried running commands in the powershell, scanned my computer, cleared the cache, and when I used the store troubleshooter it said that I needed a microsoft account, although I had signed into my computer (and the store before).
I purchased a hp pavilion laptop a few months ago with Windows 10 pre-installed.
I haven't used it for a few days, turned it on this evening and I got a message on boot up saying
"preparing automatic repairs" and then my screen goes blank 3-5 seconds later.
I do not have a cursor and have tried various keys and different ways of trying to bring up some kind of option. I also tried plugging my laptop into my TV to see if it were perhaps the screen that was going wrong.
When I boot up my computer (to windows 10). It will do the Asus splash screen then instead of going straight to windows if does this black screen with the kinda terminal thing (with no writing/text) then goes on to windows. Does this affect my computer?
OK, I recently 'upgraded' my windows 7 to windows 10. It was working fine since Christmas, then today it just freezes on the windows 10 splash screen, which as I'm sure you can guess is incredibly annoying.
I have win 10 pro installed on my dell e6410. When I start my laptop I see very bright blank white splash screen for 2 seconds during the boot process. The sequence is as folows:
1- I press start button and it powers up 2- Windows 10 logo screen appears 3- Very bright white splash screen appears for 2 seconds(This is not normal as i don't see it on work computer which also have windows 10 pro ) 4- Then Windows 10 login screen appears and then everything normal.
How to get rid of appearance of this very bright white splash screen which appears during boot process as it is very annoying when you work in dark environment.
I've just installed Windows 10 Build 10122 on my SP3 (finally) and I have a problem. The old people app seems not to be correctly installed and I'm not able to uninstall it...
And the new People app and Store (Beta) opens but crashes after a few seconds...
I have a desktop that I ran the update on from windows 7 up to windows 10. When I go to shutdown on this system it appears to begin the shutdown process. However, after a few moments with black screens and appearing to have shut down, the PC near turns off and shows the BIOS splash screen and begins to start windows up again.
I have tried various troubleshooting options on the internet though only resulting in - a screen every time I "shut down" that tells me that there has been an error and that the computer must restart, even though I was shutting it down in the first place... It also tells me that there is an error named "apple.sys" possibly causing the problem. The computer then restarts fine every time after that point though the only possible way of me shutting the computer down is manually holding the shut down button on my pc case. Then once I power up after that my computer fails to give power to my keyboard and mouse, to which I must then reset the BIOS every single time and then restart. This is the only way I can turn my pc back on after every time I manually power down - resetting the BIOS to bring power to my accessories. I dont really want to keep doing this every single night and plus I figure it must be bad for my pc.
I am now wondering if a clean install is my only option, or if there is some other way of keeping windows 10… just having it work properly.
I just bought this new ASUS K550J laptop and came with Windows 8.1 with it but I wanted to install Windows 10, fresh install. I did the usual things needed for installation and it was ok but it takes too long to boot up. Here is a video of what am I speaking. It's UEFI and I think it's the Windows Boot Manager, how can I reset it?
Code: Windows Boot Manager--------------------identifier {bootmgr}device partition=DeviceHarddiskVolume2path EFIMicrosoftBootbootmgfw.efidescription Windows Boot Managerlocale
Yesterday I got a notification that my windows 10 upgrade was ready on my MSI GT60-0NE laptop and decided to give it a try because I really disliked windows 8.1. Windows update went through downloading the files and preparing the computer for installation. It then did the usual, configuring updates on the blue screen, got to 100% and just shut down completely. I left it there for about 5 minutes and decided to try to power it back on. When turning the computer back on, it stayed on for about a minute and then cut itself back off.
After waiting a minute it turned back on, then back off again. It kept repeating this for about 5 minutes. During this phase I saw absolutely nothing on the screen, no MSI loading splash screen, no cursor, absolutely nothing at all. I couldn't enter the BIOS, couldn't run recovery or even get into safe mode. Absolutely nothing worked. The battery light was also flashing blue which I had never seen before. During this time the hard drive light was flashing and flickering the usual red light.
I did a hard reset on the computer and then turned it back on. When i powered it back on the screen was still completely blank, no MSI splash screen, no cursors, couldn't enter the BIOS or anything. During this time the hard drive light was a steady red. The blue battery light was no longer there and it was back to its usual constant red light. After about 10 minutes the computer turned itself off. Being frustrated I left it overnight and tried again this morning.
When I power the computer on now, there is no hard drive light. It doesn't even give a single flash of red. The computer will stay on but just stays there at the black screen. I've tried to look for solutions but I can't get anything to work. The only thing I can hear running is the fan.
I've tried to remove the hard drive and boot to see if I could get into bios, still a black screen. I've tried removing the video card and booting to see if I could get anything through integrated graphics, still a black screen. I've tried to plug the computer into another monitor, still a black screen but it does recognize the signal.

Edge on my Dell Vostro has begun malfunctioning. When I open, it double opens and then freezes as soon as I go into a site. Have to go to task manager to close. Not happening on my Windows tablet.
Restarting and clearing all data did not work.
I have gone back to Chrome but miss the news page on Edge.
I recently updated my HP to Windows 10. During setup after I logged in, I got the BSOD. I thought there was nothing wrong until I logged in and found out that I didn't have Start Menu access. About 10 seconds later, the BSOD came up again. Now every time I log in, about 10 to 30 seconds after login, I get the BSOD.
Upon start up of my PC it loads up then the screen goes blank, like its in sleep mode, no mouse nothing, if I turn the monitor on and off, the screen appears for a second or two then disappears again.
I tried restarting in safe to check drivers but it does exactly the same thing here. In safe mode however, under monitors Generic PNP Monitor has the Yellow Exclamation mark indicating an issue. I have tried uninstalling this and also my graphics drivers and it seemed to work for the first time. Next day I turned on my PC again and the same thing is happening. I have to constantly turn on and off my monitor so I can navigate to the relevant areas to uninstall drivers etc.
I have tried a Google search but everything I have read has said something about having a mouse pointer on a blank screen but I do not even have that.
My graphics are built in, not a separate card which the driver for this is labelled Intel HD(R) Graphics. Unfortunately I do not have access to another monitor to check to see if the monitor is faulty. Just to add, this just started randomly before a fresh Windows 10 install.
Since I've updated from windows 7 to windows 10, the computer occasionally freezes for about 10 to 30 seconds and nothing but the mouse pointer works.
It happens every now and then but mostly a few minutes after the computer has started and then every now and then. If it freezes in the middle of a download for example, the download simply continues after the freeze ends.
I have scanned the PC with numerous anti virus applications such as ESET NOD32, Malewarebytes and Norton.
My computer went to a black screen again after installation, but after waiting for a while my computer fell asleep and I went to wake it up and the black screen was gone. I still get the black screen after I restart, but I just press the power button on my laptop, put it to sleep and then I press some button (any) and it's fine.
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Since the upgrade I have noticed the following:
When my computer comes alive from screen saver mode, sometimes though not always all the icons are missing. The task bar is there but clicking on any item there does nothing. It's like everything just seizes up.
W10 (64 bit Home) has been working OK on this laptop but recently I have been able to open the settings screen for only a micro-second. Having found people having the same problem I have tried running SFC several times, as suggested, but it says it found an issue it could not resolve.
Again following instructions on the forum I tried running DISM with an iso loaded and this hung at 40% for hours (overnight).
I do not understand what to look for in the log file, but there are several lines that mention an error. I attach the log file (zipped)....
