BSOD :: Thread Stuck In Device Driver
Jan 31, 2016
The bluescreens are really random and like to happen out of no where. I could be playing League or Blade and Soul and it when it happens. I usually always have chrome open in the background watching something. Some days PC would boot up and I would have to restart because it's slow and not opening anything.

Every so often (once every two or three weeks) it's quite random, normally when playing games. The game normally freezes and then the BSOD occurs.
I am quite good with computers on the basic side of things but all this BSOD solving seems quite complicated so I might get a bit confused sometimes .
Here is the log from the collector and I filled in the specs from the program to the best of my ability.

I have Intel Core i5 and AMD Radeon 260X (I just switched to it).Got my Pro 64-bit Windows 10, but after I start a game or process like for ex. Skype, the system crashes. It is something similar to the blue screen of Win7. I know it is normal new OS to have bugs and glitches, but that is just too much.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 on a brand new Lenovo Z50 laptop. It crashes whenever it is not plugged in with the error message THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER ....
I assume there is some driver that I'm forgetting to download that is related to the battery or something?

So I have read a couple of articles of people with the same issue and they're saying that i should uninstall the graphics card drivers, and reinstall them, and i have done that and I'm still getting the same problem. I can't play any games and it's rough.

So 4 days ago i decided to build a new PC. For my GPU i decided to get a PowerColor Devil 13 Dual Core r9 290x (the cause of the problem), which as i understand, is the same as 2 290x's crossfired. I set up my PC with Windows 10 pro and the OS had installed the r9 200 series driver. Windows messages started popping up, saying that the vidoe driver has stopped responding.
After a few of them, the blue screen of death popped up with and error message:
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTON_NOT_HANDLED, with sometimes some of them being with a different error message- like VIEDO_TDR_FAILURE or CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED.
Still, all of them occurred after a video driver had been installed. I obviously tried installing them myself from the AMD website, but the same happened. Even with the driver auto detect utility, as some said, doing so would fix it, but no. I tried my PC setup with my old r9 280x and everything worked perfectly.

Windows 10 system thread exception not handled error, then it tries to restart because of the fault but instead it shuts down, then if you switch it on again it tries to start for a while but goes off, no way event if you keep on doing that.

Today, I finally went through with the free Windows 10 upgrade. After the upgrade concluded, my laptop worked fine for about an hour, after which time it crashed to the new and improved Windows 10 BSOD, informing me that they would restart my computer for me. The problem is that, after the initial ACER screen, in which I can press F2 to enter setup, a Windows Automatic Repair screen comes up, and shortly thereafter, crashes right back to the BSOD. It will do this 5 or 6 times before giving up and staying shut down. I cannot press F8 or Shift+F8 to enter safe mode at any point.
Now, when I press F2 to enter the set up screen, I am given the following 5 screens, in order:
As far as I can tell, with an admitted lack of expertise, there does not appear to be any way for me to access the BIOS to at least get to safe mode, and perhaps go back to a restore point.

I had the above message on the Blue Screen and when it automatically rebooted, it rebooted 4 times before going into a black screen. I have a (crappy), fairly new Dell Inspiron 3520. I was running Windows 10 on it (yes, I was stupid enough to install it on a laptop that wasn't tested by Dell for Windows 10, that's pretty much my life). It's been fine up until today when that happened.

My computer was just fine and today I turn on my computer and a blue screen says "your pc ran into a problem. We'll restart for you. Error: system thread exception not handled"
How do I fix this and get my computer back? I don't even know how to get into safe mode.

The driver rollback is grayed out (unavailable) for devices in the Device Manager. From what I find doing a search, the user must be an "Administrator" or it will be unavailable. My account is an Administrator account. What do I have to change to fix this?

I am trying to remove the drivers from a device that I am uninstalling but the "Delete the driver software for this device" box to check off is missing. When I go to reinstall the device windows automatically reinstalls the old drivers that do not work. How I can get rid of the old drivers so windows does not automatically reinstall them?

This is not exactly win 10 specific question, i had same problem in win 7, but now that i'm on win 10, that problem is still there. Here's what's going on:
I have high-end gaming PC with GTX 980 and 4k monitor and 1080p monitor as secondary.
4k Monitor is connected via DisplayPort and other monitor is using HDMI
Both of those monitors have built-in speakers (actually i don't think 1080p monitor has speakers)
But here's the problem, windows 10 keeps automatically installing HDMI audio drivers and 50% of the time when i boot my system, all my software defaults to the stupid HDMI sound.
This is extremely annoying and i'm about to pull my hair out over this. All my media players default to monitor audio, even tho windows does not select it as "default device".
Also even tho other monitor doesn't have speakers, system still thinks that the monitor has speakers and sets it as audio device.
Also when i record gameplays using shadowplay or other recorder, lot of times there's no audio on videos, because screen recorders also default to that dumb hdmi audio. I can't be bothered to check audio every time i do something.
I really need a way to tell windows 10 to STOP doing that. Here's what i've done so far:
1. under playback devices, i have DISABLED both of the monitors as playback devices.
2. I have tried uninstalling + disabling drivers for both monitors in "device manager"
3. i used local group policy to force windows not to install drivers (gpedit.msc > administrative templates > system > device installation), then i grabbed the group ID from device manager and entered it there to prevent windows from installing drivers for any audio groups.
After step 3, drivers were not installed, but windows still shows both monitors in "playback devices", only difference is that in device manager it says that this device does not have drivers installed, but they're still showing up in "playback devices", therefore all my software is STILL able to use them as playback and some of my software, like winamp, still defaults to them.
Forgot to mention, that if I disable both of them in playback devices, windows automatically re-enables them at some point. probably at boot, but i can't be bothered to check every few seconds, i just want windows to STOP trying to tell me what's best, i like my Asus STRIX 7.1 headset + 7.1 Hi-Fi home theater speaker system, i don't need some tiny jurassic stereo speakers lol.
I want to punch whoever made this feature. I mean .. what kind of an caveman would buy high-end gaming PC with GTX 980 + 4k monitor and NOT have a proper sound card + headset? Did those low-brainers in microsoft seriously think that anyone using high-end gaming PC, would like to use HDMI as primary audio? that's just ridiculous!
I think my only option is to force windows to think that i'm not using HDMI so it won't even detect my monitors as audio devices, is that possible.

On Windows 8. 1, I had no issues with this speaker. It's a JBL Charge. After upgrading to 10 it worked fine until a reboot when it failed to connect (it pairs, but won't connect, and the speaker doesn't appear as an audio-out option in Sound settings).
The Bluetooth wizard in PC Settings says "Driver error" next to the speaker icon.
Poking around in device manager, I see this error:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
{Conflicting Address Range}
The specified address range conflicts with the address space."
The only references I find to this error online are for different (and quite old) version of windows, and seem unrelated to Bluetooth.
I can't even look at the "resources" tab because it appears to have vanished in Windows 10!
